Leicester V Coventry Emb 15 03 2015 12:00 Start
lionking replied to TMW's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It is not a new rule to have a clock on the centre green . Most the improvements that were done during the winter people would not notice e.g the medical centre & changing room now based in the pits along with improved lighting in the pits for the riders during evening meetings. A considerable amount of money also went into building this side so i think it's fair to say funds are to a limit with no income during the winter. As for the meeting there was a few entertaining races & a lot of positives from a Leicester point of view espically Wozniak but i think it's fair to say let's not put too much pressure on the young lad let him grow & mature at his own rate he will have bad meetings . Coventry were hampered by the missing Hans Andersen but i am confident it would still have been an easy victory for the lions. Jamrog looked well out of his depth & will not be around long if that is the usual performance. The mass of Coventry fans that travelled today were let down by their team who should really be ashamed of the effort some of them put in espically Stuart Robson who's body language from the minute he walked through the pits gate was like he didn't want to be there. Finally fair play to Jason Garrity for making the effort to catch Szymon Wozniak after the race to sportingly shake his hand after a very hard but fair heat number 8 elbows were galore & 2 young but commited riders with no fear. A good meeting in my eyes but bigger test lay ahead for both sides so take today with a pinch of salt because it's EL which really matter although it is always nice to tonk your local rivals & hopefully seal the East Midlands bowl -

So Hans Andersen can't ride at Leicester on sunday due to a family bereavement but he can fly over for their press & practise day which isn't overly important & there is no mention of any family issues on his twitter . -

I feel even with R/R Coventry will beat Leicester i feel it's a shocking decision to pair Walasek & Wozniak together. Walasek will do well if he is in front but if he gets behind he won't want to know & Wozniak needs time & no pressure so would be better paired with Doyle IMO Ben Morley as guest ??? Out of all the bottom end riders out there that's the best they come up with . -
Riders Gardening At The Tapes
lionking replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That is Nicolai Klindt buggered then because he is constantly off his bike " gardening " but he is usually always first to the tapes to allow him time to do it. What annoys me is riders who are making changes/have a problem & are close to missing the 2 minutes so they goto the tapes on a spare bike then deliberately false start so they can gain an extra 2/3 mins for their mechanic to work on the bike . By the time the re-run is due to start they have their no1 bike ready. That is just damn cheating which I've seen many times when i have been in the pits -
Lasse Bjerre rumoured to be heading to Owlerton . If it is true i will certainly be a regular next season

All this PA is too loud at Coventry & Birmingham. Count yourself lucky you don't have to listen to Chris Popple every week like we do at Leicester

Newcastle V Sheffield (plc) - Sun 13/04 - 6:30pm
lionking replied to ellioth4's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Anyone have any ideas why Simon Nielsen isn't riding ?? -
Just because he has the all clear doesn't mean he is recovered fully
-
Look at the side Simon Stead recovering from a broken leg always injured Leigh Lanham Has seen better days in the twilight of his career Adam Roynon Sick note himself recovering from another broken bone & will be injured by May Taylor Poole Currently recovering from a badly broken femur & will take a few months to get back to race fitness but certainly has potential Andre Compton 1 trick pony round Sheffield is all he is good for proven by his scores last season Simon Neilsen A gater who doesn't leave the inside slick line but does have potential Josh Bates A Young NL standard rider who this is maybe 1 year too early to step up after his disaster 1/2 a year at scunthorpe. Bags of potential if he can stay on the bike. If rumours are to be believed he is only in the side because his grandad is part of the consortium that has brought the promoting rights at Sheffield. To me that is hardly a top 6 side. Will start the season slow & finish strong but will be too late for top 6
-
You are forgetting Taylor Poole is recovering from a badly broken femur currently
-
I agree Leicester fans are gutted he can't come over .
-
I'm being told Kauko Nieminen is to replace Jason Doyle in the Somerset line up
-
In no order Berwick Newcastle Peterborough Dry House Scunthorpe Workington Redcar & Ipswich to just miss out Plymouth & Sheffield to scrap for the wooden spoon
-
If you get a fully fit Simon Nielsen he will do a job for you. He is a gater & a slick track rider so my only concerns are that around Sheffield he will be non effective because he very rarely comes off the inside line. He broke his leg very badly in 2012 & IMO he only really recovered mentally in Sept 2013 . His 2013 record for Leicester were HOME Sheffield 8+2 Scunthorpe 1+1 Edinburgh 3 Redcar 6+2 Ipswich 1+1 AWAY Scunthorpe 4+1 Sheffield 4+1 Edinburgh 1 Newcastle 1 He also rode for Plymouth but i do not have scores for that because i only keep Leicester scores. But they were very similar to those for Leicester

You make some very good points here. Leicester are almost certain to be Elite League in whatever form it is Kake is god at Leicester very much like he is at Workington but by his own admission he has had a very poor season , spent 80% of the season with little niggle injuries & suffer mechanically. Kake made it common knowledge that he is seeking a new EL team so hoping that can be Leicester. But he also said he plans to spend as little time as possible on the road & in the country as Mervi his wife is due to have a baby in the next 4 weeks so naturally he wants to be at home in Finland so 6 hours each way from Stanstead every week is not going to be high on his agenda 1 thing is for sure on his average i think he will have plenty of offers. As for Bjerre another rider who moans week in week out about travelling but he is motivated by 1 thing that is money so if you pay him a good screw & provide a Thomas Armstrong van you will be laughing but if i'm honest i can't see him being a Tony Jackson man with lasse outbursts i guess time will tell.

Did anyone else hear the Chris "f**k up" Popple is presenting the Elite League final at Birmingham next week because their presenter is away. This will be interesting to see how long it takes to make himself look a twit . I might even pop along for a laugh

PL team of the year. 1. Craig Cook 2. Ashley Birks 3. Nick Morris 4. Cameron Heeps 5. Micky Dyer 6. Lewis Kerr/ Max Fricke 7. Ryan Douglas (maybe a surprise choice) But anyone who has seen this lad ride in the last 8 weeks will fully understand why he is in there.
-
I understand that this would fit. 1. Magnus Karlsson 2. Jan Graversen 3. Lasse Bjerre 4. Henning Bager 5. Kevin Doolan 6. Sergey Darkin 7. Alex Edberg

This seems totally unfair to say Redcar are 6th at the cut of date so should take 6th spot. Their match to be run is at Rye where a 24 point defeat or more puts leicester in the play offs . Redcar lost by 20 in the KOC 2 weeks ago when they were lucky it was only 20 (why wasn't this ran as the PL match with the cut off looming). So to say redcar won't lose by 24 is debateable. If you go head to head Leicester took maximum 7 points off Redcar. If you delete Leicester last match so they have rode equal matches as Redcar . Leicester make the play offs. I await an announcment in next 24 hours
-
DH told me that the lads had simply rented the stadium. But then SCB kicked up saying any riders that rode would be banned because it wasn't run by SCB registered promotors. So to get round it Alan Jones was named as event organiser on offcial paperwork to get round the loophole. So the event was run by the 2 young lads but paperwork will say the speedway was run by Leicester.

I stood with some MX fans who said the speedway was a complete waste of time . They were saying they would rather watch the ink dry on the grand cheque. Chris Popple made Leicester Speedway the complete laughing stock in front of a massive crowd . He just gets it so wrong everytime i counted 3 times Rob had interrupt Chris to tell him he was wrong. Like the wrong fixtures they are in the programme chris only had to look instead of blabbing his mouth off. The MX fan next to me asked if the Midland Defence League was skin headed blokes with tattoo's racing round abusing with cans of special brew in their hands. I was jumping for Joy when they had the crash & it appeared Chris mic broke while he was speaking so he went silent. I hoped that would be last i heard of him but no such luck. But that was the best yet. Asking Danny King what he would do with his grand in the hand for winning the meeting when he had finished 3rd . DID HE EVEN WATCH THE MEETING. Why do they let him loose with a mic for interviews when we have Rob there. Just when i thought he couldn't get any worse he produced the dire stuff on sat. This was a big chance for us to promote speedway to some new faces but CP f**ked it up big time with his usual balls up. Time to do us all a favour Chris resign and go back to your 80's DJ booth in a back street bar playing to 10 people maximum.

Do you mean announcer as in results from the box or presenter like Rob does at Scunthorpe ??
