  1. Right okay we have established that the trying to get the meeting off is incorrect and I did say I did not believe that one. Your theory that this no worse that traveling for a meeting and the meeting been cancelled due to weather and not getting their entry money back is complete and utter tosh, and you know it. The Promotion does not employ the weather they do employ the medical team and they do have some control over that matter. And hopefully someone will correct me if I am wrong has this not happened before to Workington. If it has then what happened today show a lack of disregard by the Workington management and they should have made plans that when a replacement medical team comes they have the necessary equipment. Like I say if it has happened before then the buck I am afraid stops firmly with the Promotion and for me the club should receive a fine for what has happened. .
  2. That is fine but what about the extra's that go with it, fuel and food etc. There will be Sheffield fans who will be well out of pocket. I do hope that the rumors that Worky wanted the meeting off are untrue as the sport does not need any further controversy, and to be fair I don't think that Laura Morgan and the team are better than that and I don't think that they are like that. But it would be interesting to hear what TaylorJ has to say on the matter as she is very good at condemning other promotions.
  3. Rosco was absolutely spot on with his team selection for this one, choosing Simon Stead was a brave and inspiring choice, especially when you saw Simon take heat 1. A message to Craig Cook, put the dummy back in and grow up and be man.
  4. Yep not the most popular especially after riding Sheffield twice this season and winning 5 out of the 8 races he raced. Mind you the lad does have a lovely smile, maybe Colgate could sponsor him.
  5. Nice to see a good performance from Sam Masters after his match winning performance at Sheffield the night before.
  6. I think there was many Sheffield fans who felt that Lawson was nailed on for Sheffield. To be honest I wasn't, I find him a bit one dimensional, if he gates he wins if don't then he fails.
  7. I don't know usually found Redcar to be very loud, although they have used props in the past via a big bass drum. Berwick can be loud but you spend a lifetime deciphering what they are actually saying. Leicester could be loud when they used to come to Sheffield, but like there track they were boring. Never really heard Workington before, mind you we have one that stands with us every week and she can be a little bit loud when she wants to be, and using my linguistic skills I can actually speak a bit of Cumbrian. But out of that lot I would say Redcar are probably the best have more different songs and more original.
  8. Added to that how do Sheffield get Lawson as a Guest when Redcar riding the same night? Should read Lanham, Proctor and Bates out. Masters, R/R and Perry in.
  9. Called forward planning and you never know what will happen with other clubs and whether they may need a Guest rider. If Steady is dropped or Team GB fail to progress then we simply cancel the booking.
  10. Early indications say that nothing broken, but suffered bruising..
  11. Something we discussed ias group at the last Sheffield meeting with a Comets supporter in our group. For years now Workington have built teams that on paper for the start of the season are very attractive, but for one reason or another never seems to achieve its true potential. Has to be frustrating for the Promotion and fans alike.
  12. I disagree with those comments, Ash Morris is an up and coming youngster who had the potential at the start of the season to make big strides in the sport. Mills at reserve was a decent call as you would have expected him to score a few points. The top 5 was as good as any tea on paper at the start of the season. The big problem for Workington this season ids the injuries to to riders and it seems to have knocked the stuffing out of the team.
  13. Really fancy us to maybe take a point from this meeting. I think the key is Ty Proctor and Taylor Poole. Ty has been off form , but the home form is starting to pick up if he can bring his present home form to Ashfield he could prove a trump card. And young Taylor riding at reserve again could be very useful, he is starting to hit some form and with the chance to take some extra rides, again could be a matchwinner..
  14. I think that Ben Wilson proved a point tonight. Two full seasons out of the sport and a handful of National League meetings. He not only goes out in heat 1 and gains a paid win behind his team mate, he also beats the opposing number 1 who is in the Team GB starting line up. He then goes on to score in every race, gets yet another paid win Not bad for a start from Ben. .
  15. I am guessing you did attend this meeting, because if you had you would have realise that the score line flattered the Diamonds.
  16. Not only that, but now have to make our way to Rough Park according to the title of the thread.
  17. Of course he has got it right, and when he says horses for courses he has got bang on the button. If the meeting was held at the Wolves then you would have Cookie instead of Stead and Barker instead of King. Rosco is playing to his squads strengths.
  18. Taking the bottom three of the Sheffield team and their averahges from rides for Sheffield this season, we can see that this is not so much a gamble for the club. Home Taylor Poole 5.47 with BP and 4.55 without BP. Simon Nielsen; 4.40 with BP and 3.60 without BP. Josh Bates; 4.53 with BP and 4.00 without BP Away Taylor Poole 5.07 with BP and 4.00 without BP. Simon Nielsen; 3.87 with BP and 2.97 without BP Josh Bates; 3.75 with BP and 3.50 without BP Overall Taylor Poole 5.27 with BP and 4.25 without BP. Simon Nielsen; 4.23 with BP and 3.32 without BP Josh Bates; 4.00 with BP and 3.57 without BP Out of the three Simon has looked the least comfortable around Owlerton, and I am sure that Ben Wilson can at least match or even more improve on them.
  19. Micky Dyer is a good call, if he had not retired. Like I say if we are going to make a change then it has to be for the benefit for the club and to improve the team. I am all for make a change, because if you look at the league table yes we are bottom, but we still have a hell of a lot of meetings to race and points to pick up. The Ty Proctor move seemed like a cute move by the Promotion at the time and he should be doing better, it was a big move by the Promotion that showed to me that they are prepared to think big when the chance comes along. And I stil think on the quiet the Promotion are looking to bring in somebody, but someone that will make a big difference and not Richard Hall.
  20. The big problem, with this seasons team is that it was more or less put together at the end of February, so basically we put together a team that was what was left on the shelf, so I think that it was always going to be a season which we would have backs against the wall. To be fair the Promotion has made one change bringing Ty Proctor which should have made the team stronger, unfortunately Ty has been a bit hit and miss, more miss. Comparing the new Promotion with that of Neil Machin is a little unfair, I would be more incline to reserve my judgement on their team building next season when the Promotion are on a level playing field with the rest of the league.
  21. Anton Rosen is Swedish and rides in the Swedish League on Thursday, people need to put any Swedish riders out of a possible place for Sheffield. Richard Hall would yes score some decent scores around Sheffield, but we need someone who can do it away from Sheffield.
