One person did say that the old NL was full of MEDIOCRE riders and JOURNEYMAN and as it was Div 2 so it had to be EASY and it was a was a poor relation.That person was WItcher that statement was the one i hated totally untrue and everybody else have come up with great debate and put there case well you included.I don't agree with what you said about Yeates that year reaching the OVERSEAS Final outweighs anything the riders you named have achieved in there careers up to now.In the EL Ward,Puk,Doyle Janowski are the only in/out number 1s in my opinion. Tai is the example for Ward, people on here not so long ago were saying he didn't deserve his chance back in the series.He was not that popular was hardly flavour of the month even with me,but he has won people over me included.After his beloved Dad Rob died Tai changed and what a transformation he is a credit to our sport and as World Champion what an ambassador he is a breath of fresh air.Darcy by what i have heard is well liked if he can get his off track stuff sorted well he is in the mix but TAI will take some dismantling and Emil is a huge threat.I believe Ward will win World Titles in the next ten years, but the hard work begins now watching him ride is a absolute pleasure.Can the Robins get him to ride for us next year? open the new stadium we can only dream i suppose.

I think this post summed everything up pretty well, Poole really did under perform Holder i will give him a bit of slack after heat 1 he looked slow Newman rode ok he also looked slow.Gomolski the race he even won he looked mega slow and Magic was not at his best but he showed his class in heat 15.North and Watt are the weaknesses,Poole will make the play/offs and with the right change can still win the league.Swindon i was chuffed to bits with there performance BATCHELOR is key for me if he performs we can still make in roads on getting the points needed on the road.Wright was terrific gutsy put himself on the line and he now is getting in the laps at the abbey and is improving.I like Charlie and i always thought his away form could be a massive bonus for us his scrap with Newman was brilliant.Ward dont need to say much that heat 11 that was awesome he just squatted away Janowski like he was not there and in that race looked mega quick.I came away last night thinking in that heat 11 i had seen a great rider on show no doubt in my mind at there best TAI, EMIL, Ward are the best riders in the world.Tai has done it won a title and is in the driving seat,but i believe Ward is the better rider and will prove it over the next ten years.For Darcy also which is bonus maybe i could be wrong his gating has improved alot which will help him when he gets back in the series roll on Wolves on Monday night.

S No not because of there age because the league was damn hard, if anything Lee did better in the old BL i think he averaged 7.43.As an example if you were a Eastbourne rider and had the challenge of riding at say the big Ellesmere Port that at NL level the standard was a bloody hard sometimes people forget that.Maybe i misunderstood? are you seriously saying there is not that much difference between the NL now and the old NL.?

Michael Lee did and would of struggled with the new rule over a period i believe, he shouldn't have but could not except the change.Also when i first see Michael ride i did not think his gating was his strongest point,from 78 onwards he improved it bigtime.

What about good old Bernie the bolt? was he MEDIOCRE i think not i enjoyed watching him for the one season when he was with the Budgies he was very loyal and got his bonus when Reading won the league in 1980.

Mauger was the best/ most consistent gater i ever saw he never seemed to ever rear or lift at the start Kilby was the best gater i ever saw he just was not as consistent as the galloping Mauger.

I think the two reserve races could decide tonight, i think a close home win and Ward to score a minimum of 10 points plus maybe? only Magic to beat him.

I am not that bothered about the winning and losing aspect,as long as i see some decent racing and seeing Ward in action for a few months is a massive plus it will be weird seeing him in red though.

Lee,Collins, Havelock,Loram four English world champions they started there journey in the NL oh but they only rode in it because it was EASY yeh Right!!!

I hope so to GR,and i admit i am chuffed to bits he is riding for the Robins.But really i don't care who he rides for we are lucky that he even wants to ride over here.His job is to keep a low profile, keep his head down and do his stuff then next year back on the GP trail.He has world titles in him i am convinced of that,just up to Darcy now i wonder if the Robins management regret putting tomorrows meeting for a tenner?. It should be packed a great gesture though like Leicester at least they are trying new thing's and good on them for that.
