Got a proper job - worked hard and probably made more from it! Took on responsibilities, got married and priority changes. I believe he only wanted to ride in the Championship last year and reluctantly agreed to take the Premier place. Wouldn't surprise me if it was only ever meant to be short term in the eyes of both parties......
