  1. Thursday May 7th - everyone's chance to make the change.....
  2. Didn't you go to see the Witches at the Cornhill? If it was big enough to warrant a full parade Speedway would've got one as well....
  3. When promotion is worth around £150 million I think you can understand the celebration! It does highlight the stark reality of Speedways finances when the flipside is that it could mean a reduction in the crowd at Foxhall that is the difference between a break even season and a large loss The usual 1500 would traditionally be raised to 5000 on a good weather bank holiday If that is down to 3000 then the 2000 difference costs the Witches in the region of £40k Peanuts in relation to the football club - a weeks wages for just one player but vital to the Speedway club!
  4. It can only be that as he is not in a Premiership 1-7 that the converted Championship figure is used
  5. The official cop out for that one was the regulations being 'interpreted' as a rider that has never achieved an official match average as opposed to being assessed Lambert had of course achieved a match average prior to that time and although officially (re)assessed at the time of the booking this was conveniently 'clarified' to allow his inclusion
  6. The regs are different for a rider at reserve as you cannot run RR at 6 Also it is (was) that a rider couldn't BE a guest whilst on an assessed average as opposed to no facility if they were missing
  7. I watched from the turn 2 exit (with the Danny King fan club) but moved to turn 4 for the last heat Did the same as Bojangles - there were a number of exits direct to the field car park for a straight forward quick getaway I was back in Ipswich by 11:15 having beforehand feared that might be the time we left the car park if there had been teething problems/delay with the meeting and then car park carnage Thankfully there were no such issues
  8. Congratulations to Northampton on a smooth and successful opening night - I'm glad I made the effort to check it out An easy 2hour(ish) journey from Ipswich, simple to find and pretty well organised parking A good location to take advantage of those supporters sadly missing their own teams A great turnout (3-4k?) Lots of 'neutrals' but hopefully a good number will become regulars Track very slick with any outside dirt pretty much unusable particularly on 1&2 where the significant descent negates the camber A number of decent battles without oodles of passing. The general buzz of a bigger crowd meant these probably came across better than had it been an empty stadium (take note promoters - atmosphere is a big factor in perception) I can certainly see that there should be an improvement in the racing with some relatively straight forward adjustments to prep Gate 4 was a huge advantage , with gate 1 a graveyard - a couple of clever/experienced first bends off the less favoured gates made the difference in the Witches favour - Score totals 1) 13+2 2) 21+6 3) 22+2 4) 34+2 Decided to make a dash for it during lap 4 of heat 15 to ensure our exit was possible in decent time Generally a very positive evening for the sport
  9. Going by the Foxhall result it should be tight Expecting a much needed home win to support the politically correct narrative
  10. The 396m was apparently the barrier 310m is the kerb (or 1m from the kerb which I believe is the official way to measure)
  11. Welcome to British Speedway where your face fitting is more important than talent and results.....
  12. Those running the sport love a happy clapper but need to be more attentive to what Mike and those like him are saying It's not negativity it is realism - they have abused 50 years plus of positivity from Mike and those of us like him and don't deserve anymore
  13. A poor spectacle from a racing point of view kept a little more interesting by the unexpected start by Northampton taking the lead Stream was decent with improvements to the graphics Camera angle still too narrow on occasions meaning you missed a background tussle - which is more important action than a close up of the leader imo
  14. Bright and breezy day so will be drying out quick if too little water used earlier No chance of rain so got it down and soaking into the base hopefully
  15. If the Witches score begins with a 4 then they will have performed a miracle I'm expecting a 16-20 Aces win
  16. You must sleep with one eye open and have a baseball bat in hand just in case of a break in....
