  1. The bottom of the top tier and the top of the bottom tier are closer than ever. Somerset v Leicester this season would be very hard to predict over 2 legs
  2. Points limit is fine, as many have said. Funny how the clubs with the big hitters are complaining but whats the difference having Holder on 12 and Newman on 6 or having Holder on 9 and Newman on 3? Its the same differential across the board. Why should the points limit be 60? So the clubs with the biggest asset base can then have 4 riders of 12 average? This limit brings things closer together. The big names will never ride over here apart from the odd 1 or 2. Those days are gone we need to get used to it
  3. To be fair to Poole fans it is just the usual ones who are moaning as they realise that using their own assets will be hard this year based on the average conversion for them. Most Poole fans on here have seen the bigger picture and have accepted the changes and are trying to work out the best 1-7 that Poole can come up with, something all fans of all clubs are doing on here. But as you say it does smack of the fact that because it doesnt suit Poole then they think everything is wrong. But please dont tar all Poole fans with that because quite clearly its only 1 or 2
  4. you say that but it is all relative as you would expect Holder to outscore say Batchelor every meeting by 5 points as there averages dictate. Holder, Doyle and Iversen could be nigh on unbeatable in this league if you feel that other teams will go strength in depth as they will have fairly weak heat leaders. Have a 43 point limit and give Holder his true average or go to 50 and have it higher its all relative, The decisions will be based on wether top heavy or lower strength same as its always been. Leicester or Rye House could have a rider on 9 , 8 ,7 ,7 7,6 and 6 against Poole with a 12, 10, 9 , 6 , 6 , 4 and 3. Both add up to 50 but Pooles 3 heat leaders should outscore the other 3 by some margin and if you get the bottom end right with potential improvers you would expect a win for Poole. One thing Matt Ford does is build good teams and having Holder is a huge plus in my book
  5. Again it shows how misleading the list is in terms of ranking ability. Nobody would ever say Screen was the best British rider there has ever been but his record in the British Final itself shows it that way
  6. 100% spot on. People are to hung up on the quality of the riders i.e must have gp stars. As you rightly point out the best races tend to involve other riders. Glad you can see the bigger picture rather than some on here moaning that they cant fit in the riders they want
  7. If you see that as a top flight team then it shows how poor the standard in the sport has dropped. Would Harris be any better than Josh G? And expecting Holder and Tungate to be heat leaders shows how far the standard has dropped. However i do wish Somerset all the best, great track, great fans , good promotion
  8. i always do hold my hands up and yes in some cases i make a prat of myself i know that. Technically i was right as i said no way would the EDR's from last season be converted i.e Newman wouldnt be 3.79. So i was right in that sense. Anyways apologies again
  9. Just goes to show how lists can be misleading. If you were to list the top 16 brits who have ever raced i would say that the likes of Screen, Smith , maybe Chris Louis and most certainly Evitts wouldnt be in it. But their British Final records are pretty impressive
  10. Im guessing Mark Fiala is Karl's brother and who is Kelvin Marlarkey?? I remember Kelvin Mullarkey though. I used to go Rye House in the early 80's. Bobby Garrard, Steve Naylor, Andy Hines, Marvyn Cox, Steve Bryenton, Kevin Bowen and then a young 16 year old Andrew Silver coming through. Also with the big hoo-hah with Jens Rasmussen being the first foreign rider allowed in the league. Does anyone remember an Aussie that rode there called Kerry Grey?? My uncle used to take a family to speedway and one of them who was 22 started dating Kerry and he turned up christmas day at my uncles place with her! Anyway i dont go Rye much these days (used to enjoy the Sunday afternoons over there) but i wish them every success in their new adventure
  11. Did you or did you not say that Newmans average would be converted? Yes you did. You also had a pop at me for being wrong. His average hasnt been converted like i said it wouldnt. I rest my case I said that they wouldnt convert averages for last years EDR riders. They havent No reason for me to be annoyed as its at last a level playing field I thought when i read the rules that they had converted all premier averages...........so yet again i was right in that it wouldnt just be EDR riders I misread that its not conversion just the same average for all. So just to sum up................i was 100% correct that they havent converted just EDR riders. Are EDR riders from last season on converted averages?? ...........NO Is Kyle Newman on a 3.79 like you said he would be??.........NO Is Adam Ellis on a 3 like you said he would be?? ........NO The fact that i thought ALL were being converted meant i was wrong in that assumption, even though that would have still been fine.
  12. i misunderstood that premier league averages werent being converted but just being transferred and i held my hands up to that. I said EDR riders wouldnt have a conversion and they havent had a conversion so i was right in that sense as Newman isnt 3.79. And yes i got that bit wrong which i admitted. 3 people told me that i should be annoyed because Newmans average was converted..........it wasnt. I will apologise that i misread the rules But so did all the others when they said it was being converted. And technically i was right anyway as there have been no conversions so everything fits in.
  13. Im not sure Ellis has been that harshly treated. He averaged the same as Newman but from riding mainly in the top 5. He is quite clearly a better long term prospect then Newman, and it can be argued that he is a better rider already What would you have expected him to average in the Premier league last season? Around 7 would be a good guess. Kyle Newman is 6.91 next season Adam Ellis is 7.71 next season, a difference of 0.8 which probably is a true reflection of there ability. I agree that there is no premier average to work from but when you compare him to the likes of Newman then his average is bang on
  14. Ok so now i get it. Premier league averages just transfer across so Newman will be 6.79. I await the apologies from Shovlar and Skiddet and Lisa Colette as the premier league conversion has been scrapped. Wow Poole are in the deep stuff. Newman 6.79. Ellis over 7. Kurtz over 9. Buck Gomolski over 8. Andersen over 10 and Holder over 12.
  15. which bit? All riders who have solely ridden elite league will be multiplied by 1.4. That's Holder Andersen Buck Pedersen Lindback Gomolski Watt to name a few. If a rider rode in both leagues they will be on their premier league conversion so Newman only from last season. Riders like Cook King Worrall Starke and many many more will use premier conversion not there elite average multiplied.
  16. And I was correct they won't convert only the EDR riders and they didn't. Newmans average although low ties in properly with the likes of Worrall and Bates. Ellis has almost ride himself out of a team spot as his average will be over 7. Seems daft that a young Brit is penalised but as his dad has said its the average we can take it as truth. Newman stalling in his career gets 3.79, Ellis far more promising lumbered with over 7!! Only on British speedway!!!
  17. in answer to the troll I'm totally happy with what I said which was a mockery if the EDR riders had converted averages. All premier league boys have been converted so I was spot on. But yet again you failed to read properly. Oh and Adam's dad has already said his average is high next year so no he won't have the National league taken into account. In response to Gater you have Holders average correct but Newman will have a premier league conversion so is 3.79. Poole can't even use their asset base as they are all elite league ridrrs whose averages will be multiplied by 1.4, so to high for the likes of Lindback or Madsen. Tough times for Matt Ford I'm sure he has his head in his hands right now
  18. wrong averages there for everyone except Nicholls. The others all take their premier averages divided by 1.4
  19. no your wrong mate. Newman and Kurtz will have converted Premier league averages
  20. wrong. If a rider rides in both leagues he converts his premier average. The 1.4 multiplication is for riders who SOLELY ride elite
  21. correct but a couple of the usual Poole suspects seem to have not understood lol
  22. maybe but I can see lots of skullduggery going on. All of Pooles assets have there average mulitiplief by 1.4 so those who have ridden for them solely in the elite league become riders nobody will want. Holder will be over 12 for example. This means that after the first set of averages are published and teams are way under the 50 points that a 4 pointer can be replaced by an 8 pointer. So to start with Poole will have issues but they will change half the side no doubt
  23. ok you need to learn to understand buddy. I would be pig sick if premier league averages had been used SOLELY for the EDR. As it happens ALL double uppers have been converted including the likes of Cook and King so no I'm not pig sick because although Newmans 3.79 is a mockery then so are so many others so it levels up. Poole have lost out big time with Ellis have you read the AGM?? I'm guessing not as you have no idea as to why some of there assets can't be used
  24. mwhahaha nope not at all because you yet again don't read what I wrote. I said Premier league averages won't be used for EDR only as it would be farcical. And there not its every rider who rode both so Belle Vue get Worrall, Cook and Jacobs on great averages where as Poole lose out with Ellis being multiplied by 1.4. So they at least saw sense in making every double upper convert. And the fact that Poole can't use some assets makes it tough
  25. Not surprised that yet again the powers that be haven't done anything to improve the sport. So glad my team haven't gone up. But yes Poole have been hard hit by the new rules
