I do this all the time as well. The Eurosport coverage of the Swedish League was the ultimate bargain basement effort. Just pictures as supplied by C-MORE minus the Swedish talking heads. Felt a bit sorry for Ermolenko and his mate commentating having to make the best of it. Wouldn't have minded the delayed coverage quite as much if Eurosport had taken the trouble to record the early heats and edit together to show a whole meeting, but they often just showed the last half of a meeting "as live" ! Poor. I'm sure that BT Sport will bring a much higher quality production of the GPs to our screens if their coverage of Moto GP is anything to go by. Will anyone pick up the Swedish League (or Polish Extraleague) for 2016 ? I would love to see BT Sport do these leagues as they would do a great job of looking behind the racing itself and adding production values.

Thanks. Interesting that both the GP and British deals will run out at the same time. What the media landscape will be in three years, who knows? Come to think of it, who knows what the British speedway landscape will be in 3 years? Traditional TV deals may not be the best way for sports like speedway to get revenue/exposure in the future. Look how the NFL is looking into doing deals with the big streaming companies like Google and Yahoo.

Very interesting to see a big hitter like BT Sport showing interest in the sport. It can only be a good thing when British speedway negotiates a new TV deal. When does the current Sky deal end ?

Scunthorpe Scorpions 2016?
EC Rides Again replied to Paul Johnson's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The best news this year ! Heartily approve of the Sundays at 6.30 idea. As for the team...... Tommy Gun nailed on along with Ryan D. Other than that I'm not too sure. Personally I don't want to see Carlos back as he was too much of a loose cannon this year. -

Poole Vs The Aces For The Title

As a neutral I must say that the two meetings this week showcased the sport as well as it's been done since Peterboro-Reading in 06. Exciting times for Belle Vue with the new stadium. Just hope the track is better than the Kirky Lane dog/trick track. My lad has just started at Manchester Uni not too far away so I look forward to attending the new place early next year. Congrats to Poole, commiserations to the Aces. -
A good way to end the season for the Scorpions. A meeting with some cracking racing in between some follow my leader stuff. Newman and Davies going shoulder to shoulder for four laps in Heat Six was a highlight. The Devils gave it their all tonight but just didn't have enough to really threaten the win. Some positive noises from Rob that they will return to the PL next season, so fingers crossed.

David Howe Annonces His Retitrement
EC Rides Again replied to Sotonian's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Good luck for the future, David. A real stalwart for Scunthorpe and a nice bloke (probably too nice!). On his day he was untouchable. I saw him get an immaculate 5 ride max at Sheffield for the Scorpions but then he had the gasstrack accident and was never the same again. -
Have to say that's the best meeting I've seen at Lakeside. Get well soon to the injured lads (the only downside of an entertaining match).

Future Of Scunthorpe Scorpions

The start time mentioned in the programme notes was 6.30 pm. Suits me, as it brings back pleasant memories of my childhood summer Sundays and 6.45 tapes up at New Hammond Beck Road. -
I can't argue with you probably having a better view of the incident from the back straight. I am calling it how I saw it from the terracing on bend one. To call the refs decision "laughable" is a bit strong. He's looking at it from the start line, a worse viewpoint than either yours or mine ! Don't mistake me as an apologist for the ref though, he had a stinker tonight. Tungate off 1 and Auty off 4.
