  1. Agreed - a clued up TM would have a plan in place before the first race. The plan may of course have to change but it should be constantly under review throughout the meeting. How on earth one can get to heat 14 and it has still never occurred to them is quite shocking.
  2. My all time favourite rider. I was fortunate enough to be able to be in attendance to watch three of his finest individual achievements:- 1975 British Champion at Coventry. 1975 Third place in the World Final at Wembley after a run off with the great Ivan Mauger. 1979 Winner of the BLRC at Belle Vue following a truly memorable race with Bruce Penhall. Tiger was a fantastic team man as well and led the Witches to back to back titles in 1975 and 1976. A true legend of the sport. My condolences to Chris and all the Louis family. R.I.P. Tiger Louis!
  3. Before the day itself I don’t think there is a forecaster that is more reliable than any of the others. The BBC seem to be very pessimistic with sometimes rain nearly all day, everyday. Of course given the current weather they will be right a fair bit of the time. I would say the Met Office is a bit less pessimistic and they seem to forecast less rain than the BBC. On the day itself I use AccuWeather as I find a combination of their rainfall radar and minutecast to be quite useful.
  4. Yes quite right, just like at Oxford, where a poor start for the Tigers cost them dearly. Last night they got the two points but it was far closer than it should have been. The way the Tigers team is constructed the heat leaders need to perform consistently well especially away from home.
  5. Tai clearly has a very limited range of vocabulary to call on and expletives are a fundamental part of his rudimentary language skills. I’m not sure he has the ability to behave much differently.
  6. It goes from bad to worse at the Hotel. The Manager’s Van has broken down so he cannot get there this evening. The new Russian Chef they have hired has gone down with food poisoning. Two employees tested positive for excess alcohol in their system last night. They should be ok though as they have just carried out further tests this evening, at their own expense and are clear. I’m so glad we don’t get any of this kind of nonsense at Speedway.
  7. Agreed. Maybe no club can accommodate Steve’s holiday requirements?
  8. Agreed it was (once again) a total shambles yesterday. One look at the track and it was obvious there would be no Speedway. It was also of great concern that young and inexperienced riders were allowed to prove it! Goodness only knows what would have happened with four of them on the track at the same time. The shambles continues today with nobody knowing whether there is going to be a restaging (obviously not at Leicester) or precisely what significance is to be placed on the meeting at Oxford tomorrow should that go ahead. I just get the feeling that fans apart nobody is in the slightest bit bothered by all of this.
  9. Over the years there is also plenty of precedence for not completing competitions so I guess they’ll make up whatever suits them at the time.
  10. I doubt many of us were too surprised at what happened today even though we possibly still retain a capacity for being disappointed. Unfortunately there are not so many of us fans left now to take advantage of as so many have been driven away over the years. I think the KO Cup should be awarded to Mildenhall as Leicester presumably will have to be sanctioned in some way for failing to complete their fixtures. As for the Grand Final I guess that it will be over one leg at Oxford on Tuesday. If that doesn’t take place then I suspect it will go to Leicester for finishing top of the league. Maybe though they’ll do rock, paper, scissors, best of three!
  11. Vinnie managed to complete his laps without falling as did Max Perry (who looked very stylish) and Dan Thompson (who looked somewhat disinterested). Ashton Boughen had two falls and Tom Spencer and Max James one apiece. Max J’s heavy fall pretty much signified that was the end of any hope of the meeting starting. Jordan Jenkins was the only Oxford rider to put in some laps.
  12. That probably explains why they were not letting anyone in at the advertised gates open time!
  13. It’s off - postponed to 3pm tomorrow!
  14. On that basis hopefully we’ll get an early decision to postpone.
  15. No surprise it’s off at Leicester on Sunday. At least they didn’t wait until start time this week. Over to you now Buster!
  16. That being the case let’s hope they have the decency to call it off well before start time this week.
  17. Denis Zielinski Tate Zischke Cristian Zubillaga
  18. With regard to Tai’s comments. He sure is a great rider but one with an extremely limited range of vocabulary which probably explains his difficulty in communicating without expletives.
  19. Based on the weather forecast, if it is on tonight, quite understandably the track may not be up to its best so will be interesting to hear what our play off saviour has to say about that!

  21. Well done to the Witches but it’s not over yet! All Sheffield riders will be on their game for the second leg on a track where speed will be of the essence. Emil and Doyle were excellent with lots of good back up. Pickering and Edwards rode very well for the Tigers and I was surprised Holder was given a fourth ride. Lambert rode to his ‘average’ so there should be no complaints about his contribution. Should be a good night at Owlerton.
  22. That could well be the case. I also wonder if strong representations have been made /are being made to try and get Becker in?
