King's Lynn v Ippo 17/08/23
WembleyLion replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Indeed and there is absolutely no reason why KL could not have done the same today and start the meeting! I expect it will be confirmed that the real reason for the call off was the absence of Laguta and they dared not play the food poisoning or wrist injury card again. -

Ipswich had a weakened team last week with Rew on international duty and Dan Thompson injured in heat 2 meaning they had a number of races with only one rider. Had that been KL tomorrow would they have tried to abandon the meeting or can you only play the injured rider(s) card a day or two beforehand? -

Assuming R/R for Klindt I can’t see this has been called off because KL could not get a guest for Thomas Jorgensen. There are plenty of possibilities to choose from all capable of taking points off Rew, Hume and a RS which is pretty much all TJ might have reasonably been expected to do against the Witches. So the problem must be elsewhere in the team? I wonder where? -
It seems it was only a question of time before it happened.

Yes indeed better than Nick Morris also who was the 5th best Leicester home rider this season. Harris was second, ahead of Lawson also.

Oxford vs Scunthorpe - Champ - 2/8
WembleyLion replied to Bojangles's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
When I arrived at 7pm it was clear the track was in a poor condition and 40 minutes later it was called off. Having seen the track at close quarters I don’t think there was ever any realistic chance of seeing any Speedway tonight given the earlier rain today. The return of Speedway to Oxford has by and large been a great success and one to celebrate but these questionable decisions to chance it to the last moment do a lot of damage to the club and undoubtedly will drive fans away. -
Un arranged Fixtures

Looks like the Premiership KO Cup final and Play Offs have been put back a week with the first week of September now beginning to fill up with re-arranged fixtures. -
Un arranged Fixtures
WembleyLion replied to InTheDeepStuff's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Some slight movement in the fixture list now sees Peterborough v Ipswich on 7 August changed to a league fixture and the Bank Holiday meeting on 28 August is now a cup one! No real impression that anyone is too bothered about sorting out all the other missing fixtures - some have been missing for months now! -

Nothing much really changes does it? No urgency at all. Well done though to those clubs who look to be in a position to comfortably complete their home fixtures in good time. -

I can remember seeing England v New Zealand from Wimbledon in 1970 which was shown on a Saturday afternoon. -
50 years ago today saw the final of the Daily Mirror series which resulted in the much talked about and controversial run off between Peter Collins and Anders Michanek! It was certainly a great occasion!

I suspect Artem is as injured as ruthless Robert was when Belle Vue rode at King’s Lynn after they had won the title last season!

That actually seemed to be the case to me as I thought Dan backed off in heat 13. As you say a smart move by Mark Lemon! -
