  1. Edinburgh put local lad Tommy Fenwick in their team. Glasgow have local lad James McBain in their 1-7. Berwick have Liam Carr as No 8, use him when they can. Yet folk are criticising this, presumably wanting these team positions filled by Ukrainians, Slovakians or English riders from 400 miles away?
  2. They are usually pretty prompt. Parade at ten to seven, racing at seven.
  3. Don't knock him (if indeed you were) as Facu will be representing the Bandits in the final two rounds of the World U-21 Final next month, racing against guys like Jepsen Jensen, etc.
  4. He's not the only one missing out in UK this weekend. Ben Barker and Baby Bjerre are giving the PLRC a bodyswerve. They would all have had contracts signed for Pardubice long before the British meetings were set up, I suppose. In the case of Kus, if he had been going to ride as well as he did as a guest for Berwick, I think that will strengthen the Bears!
  5. No, weather is clearing from south during morning. Heavy overnight, lighter and then dry before noon. It's on!
  6. Club website has the Complin story -- and quite a bit more!
  7. Six, maybe seven, loan fees? Including a 36-year-old Russian who would miss more weekends than Ray Milland? Get real!
  8. I was reminded this morning by a good friend that thirty years ago, Bruce Penhall and Kenny Carter had an incident which virtually won and lost a world title, and that people are still arguing about that decision. No doubt last night's semi-final will be getting dragged up, debated and argued about in 2042. But what matters is that this week's Speedway Star will report that Chris Holder is World Champion, just as Bruce Penhall was in 1982.

  10. They are professional sportsmen. They are highly paid, especially at Elite level. Each stood to gain hundreds of pounds from their extra race. They didn't fall off to spite your play-off dreams
  11. Gary Havelock will apparently be at the Marriot Hotel tomorrow -- maybe coming up with Joe Screen? -- to watch the GP with Tigers fans and hear what's to be announced. The organisers are attracting big names as well as a big attendance it seems
  12. Why? He's a nice wee guy, but he's 28, he's a Scunny asset and carries a 5.76 CMA.
  13. Since Mr Bowden's licence has apparently been suspended, the current Plymouth promotion will surely be carrying on its business through the person of David Short? Since the tragedy of Tim Stone's death left Newport rudderless, the BSPA wisely insisted each club has at least two licensed promoters. Therefore David will no doubt be working with the BSPA to tidy up the Devils' season and in all probability be instrumental in handing over the reins to any incoming consortium, when the new lease is negotiated with the landlords.
  14. Yes, that's the Berwick programme article -- word for word!
  15. Too long to repeat, but maybe someone could scan it on here
  16. Is this a fact, or a guess? Those of us who want to be there need to make travel plans. Only thing is, if Berwick get to Play-off Final, their only possible home date for it would be -- 27th October!
  17. According to the gentleman who was handing out the very eye-catching fliers about the meeting at Berwick on Saturday night, if only thirty or forty people turn up at the Marriot the prospective buyers have a very easy choice to make. They will walk away, believing the city has lost interest in speedway. Which makes it so important for the club, and for speedway all over the north, to have a packed hall this coming Saturday. Interesting article in Berwick programme about past Glasgow problems over the years.
  18. From Berwick's club website, quoting promoter Dennis McCleary: “There is still one other outstanding away league match, which has to be staged over at Derwent Park in Workington, but they are as yet unable to give us a date for this final Premier League match”. “However, as all speedway fixtures have to be completed by the end of October, we’ll no doubt be learning fairly soon when they can fit us in”
  19. Berwick have made clear they are ready, willing and able to fulfil the fixture. This confirmed by my friend last night.
