  1. Good to learn of the young Bandits, and Academy riders such as "oor wee Luke" getting pointers from the greatest Australian rider of all time. The GHT Academy at Duns is running on Sunday August 23rd, open to riders of all classes and experience. £35 per rider, must have your own equipment -- social distancing will be observed (of course).
  2. Poole currently are in the best league. As you'll hopefully find out.
  3. Wherever it is staged, Britain are looking good with Tai and Robert L --- but who will be the third rider?
  4. With all holders being admitted free to the meetings still being planned for this year
  5. Very clear message from club, I thought. Still committed to staging speedway in 2020 and great continuity in stating that the same team is planned to line up as FTS Bandits in 2021. Fair deals for season ticketeers, being admitted free to all meetings this season. Bring it on!
  6. The proof is in the figures. Wales, Scotland and Ulster have kept a firmer lid on masks and distancing, and are down to about two or three Covid-19 deaths in a week between them. England, where the vast majority of marches and beach ignorances have been taking place, is still recording around forty deaths a week. To get speedway back, the virus has to be reduced and later eliminated (not eradicated, that's a pipedream) and if everyone plays their part -- and the Westminster parliament concentrates on saving lives rather than saving rich people's profits. It does appear that outdoor activities create a lesser risk than crowds indoors -- bad news for cinemas, clubs and pubs -- and this may allow 25% stadium capacity to be invoked, and speedway to make a return.
  7. Its a fair bet it'll be against Berwick. Hull closed in 2005.
  8. Great to learn the OTA will hear bikes again in a week's time! Even if we can't be there, there'll be hopefully be a few phone-films of the riders who turn out in action......
  9. Maybe they will indeed contact season ticketeers, but only once it is known what (if anything) is happening with this season? This would allow the club - - who seem to have, from where l stand, a good record of offering fair deals at season ticket level - - to work out exactly what can be offered to ticket holders. Rather than just firing off emails, saying they don't yet know exactly what will be happening? But l do believe season ticket holders are more likely to find out what's going to happen if they do contact the club, than expecting the news to surface on this forum before they've been told directly.
  10. Well, are these seats filled, or lying empty at regular meetings?
  11. This is pretty awful stuff for "The best league in the world"
  12. What is the regulation on social distancing in Poland, do we know? All I heard was that stadiums could admit 25% of capacity. While I would have thought the audience would be required to wear masks and socially-distance (1 metre, 2 metres, who knows?) do we know, or just assume they should be kept apart like some, only some, other nations.
  13. Is there a point at which they can declare a result?
  14. Does it always rain on Fridays in Poland, causing these very early postponements, or are there other reasons?
  15. The instructions regarding (even reduced) social distancing, masks and the like will be laid down by the local H&S, not the clubs. The clubs will be required to police the instructions, which may well vary from stadium to stadium - perhaps obligatory masking in seated grandstands, not on open terraces - - and the councils will have people at meetings to ensure the requirements are complied with. If spectators refused to obey a club's directions, and the local authority felt strongly enough, speedway at that venue might be shut down. So, if we are able to get some meetings on, and spectators behave as if they are on Bournemouth beach or Liverpool, they'll be the ones to blame if they lose it again.
  16. Glasgow correctly identified their double problem of having almost the whole team living overseas and their stadium (while very well-appointed) being very compact, meaning social distancing would make it impossible to admit a paying audience. This may also be true at other stadia, while others again might, indeed will, be able to run to a worthwhile, socially-distanced crowd.
  17. I rather think they know a good bit more than you, mate...
  18. Technically it would by the H&S depts of local authorities, acting in accordance with government policy.
  19. Nasty ending, which was a pity, but of the matches so far that's been the best racing. I thought the track shape probably helped, not quite as round-and-flat-out as the other Polish tracks they've shown. Dare I say, ever so slightly more technical?
