  1. But 95% of a home crowd don't know, or care, what happens on the road. They only see an absolute star, beating the likes of Cook and Wells every week! So Dany, infuriating as he may be, has to stay as long as he top-scores, and wins matches at home, week after week....
  2. As Sarah says in her blog ('The Dirt Extra' on club website) it is very much squeaky-bum time tonight.......
  3. One for the anoraks: It's fair to say Berwick haven't done well in the Premier Trophy/League Cup/Championship Shield over the years since it was introduced in 1999. When, if ever, did the Bandits last qualify out of the group stage of this competition?
  4. Correct Neil. Bandits must win tonight. If they do, their 14 points will guarantee qualification, either as group winners or 'fastest second'. Glasgow need two away wins to better them. But they must win tonight - - May the Fourth be with them!
  5. I meant that, while the guests may be known, I wouldn't announce them before the home promotion did. That's all.
  6. A point would be really great. To clarify what Steve Hayward announced last week, NBJ is MIA for both these matches. Guests have been engaged, but it is polite to allow home club to announce the line-ups.
  7. It took two or three years for the Linlithgow production line to get going, so it has to be hoped the same will become true at Duns
  8. Consider me among the many -- definately the best in the world!
  9. There's a thread about this meeting already, in the "Testimonials & Individual Events" section.....
  10. Think you need to look a bit further up the order. Danny is learning, and will match his average.
  11. Also at Sheffield and Eastbourne, if surgery takes a wee while to knit the bone......
  12. Jye's May rolling average will be 6.49. If Bandits opt for r/r, it will still be everyone but Spud who can ride. If they choose to go down the 28-day route (which need not start until May 3) there would be a few options, of which the favourite might be a fit Theo Pijper, if available on the May Saturdays. Or a bolt from the blue. But there would be no way they'd permanently redeclare the 1-7 without Jye, l'd say.
  13. A solid Bandits win, with the Heat 8 disposal of the ever-sporting Cookie Monster a highlight. For those who stayed on, the second half saw local boy Mason Watson (#8) who is the first to make the colours straight from the Duns track looking very good for such limited experience, plus a really assured showing by Jedd List, who was so badly treated at Scunthorpe. All in all, a good night at the skids.
  14. Mr Dishington was in charge at the Bordernapolis. Prior to the meeting he called a Riders Briefing on the infield and explained the new procedure to all. The meeting went off well, with no starting gate problems.
  15. Vic Duggan and Jack Parker, who won the non-World Finals of 1947/48 Graham Warren who was seriously injured before reaching a peak Igor Plechanov who ran up twice Phil Crump was the best Australian for a decade Dave Jessup Shawn Moran (imagine the fuss if he'd won the Bradford run-off and THEN got disqualisied!) In the GP years, Jimmy Nilsen, Leigh Adams and Jaroslav Hampel. IMO
  16. New sponsors announced (and new 'powered by' backers, too) plus a new promoter on the block! Getting interesting now, folks!
  17. Yes, but...... Two top scorers have an extra race. Each, if they are No 1 in their team, earns about £100 per point. The riders would expect to be paid for racing for the Helmet. That's an extra £500 to be paid out -- and I can't imagine the prospect of watching that race would bring in the extra thirty adults -- who wouldn't be coming otherwise -- to balance the books. So, although I'd love to see the Silver Helmet coming back, I can't see it as a feasible prospect.
  18. There's a thread in the "Individuals & Shared Events" section for the Bordernapolis. Although at present, only the expected first seven contestants are known.
