  1. Well, I think Angus would know. If he thinks it was a perfectly civil question ('please' might have confirmed the civility, I thought you were a tad abrupt) he'll no doubt tell you. What a post about Liam has to do with Berwick's attendances is unclear -- but could I, ever-so-gently, mention that John Campbell's programme columns have also explained that (sadly, I think it is a great track) Armadale might also benefit from a few more fans?
  2. Former Bandit Robin Aspgren has joined Sheffield, I note.
  3. Once the teams appear on the SCB website, I'll be happy to post them here. Although I do agree with Angus -- who cares who the Comics bring, we have the team-change, we've got The Fish and we've got a good feeling around the place!
  4. Perhaps this might be because Berwick hadn't received the Comets' line-up from their promotion at the time the e-Newsletter was published?
  5. Stepped back, Steve. No longer having to put in all the draining work on track preparation. Still a director, still involved in the club -- and still having to chip in when outgoings exceed income!
  6. So the old enemies reconvene on Saturday. Riding order to be confirmed, but Berwick will have Jorgensen, r/r for Vissing, Mellgren, Ryan Fisher and skipper Doolan, plus Coty Garcia and Richard Hall. Anyone know Worky's squad? There will be a "world premiere" of Retro Speedway's new DVD.
  7. Your point being what, exactly? Bandits shouldn't have brought in Anders Mellgren when he was dumped by Rye House this afternoon? Does being available make him a mercenary> Does trying to make their team more attractive for potential customers who might actually consider attending meetings make the promotion bad people?
  8. Thanks for that. Important to note the club only gets a kick-back from sales actually at the track on August 29th (and from the Track Shop on September 5 & 12th) and if we can all buy our copies at the track it won't cost us anything extra, but it will help keep the club going.
  9. These things happen, injuries are part'n'parcel of speedway and always have been. Three good guests, three willing Bandits and good old r/r will see us through!
  10. Berwick newsletter tonight more or less put the 'bad track' story to bed by publishing referee's report to SCB. Which says it was excellent in all departments. Shall we move on?
  11. Berwick are looking for a guest on Friday, Kevin Doolan is out of action.
  12. No deep ruts. No ruts at all, in fact. Referee marked track "excellent" and sent report to Control Bureau calling it a good, grippy track -- his actual words. I'll go with the referee -- the guy who disqualified Master Bates.
  13. He is named by Sheffield at No 2 in the line-up supplied to Berwick for printing in programme, and to referee for checking averages, etc.
  14. Although not specified in e-Newsletter, Bandits will be operating r/r at No 4.
  15. Newsletter carries the good news that Ricky Ashworth will be in attendance, plus a good hospitality offer. Track has been resurfaced, fence refurbished and the weather looks set fair. Let's go racing!
  16. Worth noting that the Bandits' e-Newsletter tells folk that, if they buy this dvd at the track on September 29th -- or from the Track Shop at a subsequent meeting -- the Berwick club will benefit financially from the sale. In these days of worry over the club's future every penny earned will be vital, so if possible, Berwick supporters should buy it at the track, rather than by post, when the club won't get a kick-back.
  17. As the club awaits notification of interest, or offers of assistance -- the show must go on! The e-Newsletter tells us Liam Carr will be at reserve and Thomas Jorgensen deservedly moves to the top of the order. Mathias Thornblom will have his own equipment in the pits and the Claus Vissing slot is at No 4. For Sheffield, with a "horses for courses" guest at No 1, Jason Garrity should be exciting to watch, David Bellego will be anxious to put on a Shielfield show and it will be good to see Arthur Sissis back for his first official outing around Berwick. We must presume Nikolai Klindt will be rehearsing his starting-gate manoevres, hopefully waiting for the tapes to rise before he gets moving.
