  1. Yes, an e-mail was received by the promotion on August 24th, replied to on August 27th. The detailed and constructive suggestions put forward are under active consideration. Such a scheme is broadly very positive, but the current promotion are anxious to ensure such a "trust fund" would be properly administered by (1) responsible and supportive people who are not (2) part of the actual promotion. The bigger question has to be whether they (the current promotion) can be convinced by this, and other still-necessary funding assistance, to re-apply for league membership at the AGM.
  2. What? Is he actually going to ride for Rye?
  3. Sadly, Thomas Jorgensen re-injured his left shoulder at Plymouth last night. He was in pain throughout, pulled off track during Heat 5 and really hurt it in Heat 11 when he took a big lunge on the 3/4th turn (and nearly wiped out Coty) and finished the race more or less a one-armed Bandit. He was signed off by paramedic, and won't be racing tonight. Ryan Fisher will make the 475 miles trip to guest for Bandits at No 1 against Rye House.
  4. That's correct. I don't think he missed any meetings through the injury, although he was of course injured.
  5. So, is this to be the final match for the Bandits at Berwick after 48 seasons? Hoping not, and would urge anyone and everyone to now work together to save the speedway club. From e-Newsletter: THOMAS RETURNS: He's coming back earlier than medical advice suggested, but TJ is anxious to prove his damaged shoulder ligaments are sufficiently healed enough to let the young Dane wear our No 1 race-jacket again, and as a result he will resume his role at Plymouth on Friday night. "I've been out on my mountain-bike, and my shoulder seems strong enough" he reported. "I'm looking forward to racing again this weekend, especially at Berwick on Saturday, as I want to say thanks to so many nice people before going home for the winter!" Thomas will then be heading for Sheffield's Owlerton Stadium on Sunday, where he will be our representative in the annual PLRC meeting. Go for it, TJ! ANDERS WITH A POINT TO PROVE: Our next, and final home Premier League match will be against Rye House Rockets this coming Saturday night. Rye House -- the team who sacked Anders Mellgren by e-mail last week to allow their occasional use of the services of Robert Lambert. We obviously hope to gain some retribution on the Rockets to avenge their defeating us in the KO Cup -- and be assured that Anders will be intending to wreak a bit of revenge of his own, to show the Rye House management just how wrong they were in dumping him! Bandits on Saturday: 1. Thomas Jorgensen, 2. Claus Vissing (r/r), 3. Theo Pijper (guest), 4. Anders Mellgren, 5. Kevin Doolan (captain), 6. Coty Garcia, 7. Richard Hall.
  6. Think again, the speakers are football property. Speedway has an excellent amplifier, but has to feed into the stadium's speakers. If a speaker goes out, speedway has to ask football to get it fixed. Not supposed to touch them.
  7. Nice to read those sentiments, Thinker -- but if you have positive ideas to help the club, please don't keep them for on here, send an e-mail to the club@berwickbandits.co address and they'll be considered. As for trying to discourage anti-promotion attacks, I really wish you well, but.......
  8. Per Berwick e-Newsletter, the guest (for TJ) is Rohan Tungate.
  9. Well, I think Angus would know. If he thinks it was a perfectly civil question ('please' might have confirmed the civility, I thought you were a tad abrupt) he'll no doubt tell you. What a post about Liam has to do with Berwick's attendances is unclear -- but could I, ever-so-gently, mention that John Campbell's programme columns have also explained that (sadly, I think it is a great track) Armadale might also benefit from a few more fans?
  10. Former Bandit Robin Aspgren has joined Sheffield, I note.
  11. Once the teams appear on the SCB website, I'll be happy to post them here. Although I do agree with Angus -- who cares who the Comics bring, we have the team-change, we've got The Fish and we've got a good feeling around the place!
  12. Perhaps this might be because Berwick hadn't received the Comets' line-up from their promotion at the time the e-Newsletter was published?
  13. Stepped back, Steve. No longer having to put in all the draining work on track preparation. Still a director, still involved in the club -- and still having to chip in when outgoings exceed income!
  14. So the old enemies reconvene on Saturday. Riding order to be confirmed, but Berwick will have Jorgensen, r/r for Vissing, Mellgren, Ryan Fisher and skipper Doolan, plus Coty Garcia and Richard Hall. Anyone know Worky's squad? There will be a "world premiere" of Retro Speedway's new DVD.
  15. Your point being what, exactly? Bandits shouldn't have brought in Anders Mellgren when he was dumped by Rye House this afternoon? Does being available make him a mercenary> Does trying to make their team more attractive for potential customers who might actually consider attending meetings make the promotion bad people?
  16. Thanks for that. Important to note the club only gets a kick-back from sales actually at the track on August 29th (and from the Track Shop on September 5 & 12th) and if we can all buy our copies at the track it won't cost us anything extra, but it will help keep the club going.
  17. These things happen, injuries are part'n'parcel of speedway and always have been. Three good guests, three willing Bandits and good old r/r will see us through!
  18. Berwick newsletter tonight more or less put the 'bad track' story to bed by publishing referee's report to SCB. Which says it was excellent in all departments. Shall we move on?
