Rest easy folks, no Bunyan! e-Newsletter this morning confirms new signing........
-
Au contraire, my tumescent troll..... The match must be eagerly awaited and, who knows, by 8.30 the Bandits could be top of the Premier League? Full preview was in e-Newsletter on Monday afternoon, on website Tuesday morning and with all media yesterday. The opening of the thread was only for people who claim not to read anything but this forum, and to invite discussion.

First PL meeting of the year, with all the hopes and dreams of both clubs fresh and bright! Bandits, although hinting at picking up a seventh rider in the near future, remain with r/r for the sadly-injured Matic Voldrih. Scunny at full strength. Bandits: 1. Ben Barker, 2. Matic Voldrih (r/r), 3. Kevin Doolan (captain), 4. Thomas Jorgensen, 5. Claus Vissing, 6. Alex Edberg, 7. Luke Crang, 8. Stefan Farnaby. Scorpions: 1. David Howe (captain), 2. Theo Pijper, 3. Alex Davies, 4. Carl Wilkinson, 5. Josh Auty, 6. Ellis Perks, 7. Nike Lunna. Comments?

Polish. Wouldn't get start permission. Plus, an average of 7.00. Otherwise -- in a heartbeat.

BERWICK have confirmed Slovenian rider Matic Voldrih will be ruled out for the rest of the season. Voldrih suffered compound fractures to tibia and fibula after a crash in his national championship, and he has been told he must not resume sporting activities for six months. The Bandits are closing in on a replacement, although they do not expect completion this week. Co-promoter Dennis McCleary said: “To be fair to fans, ourselves and the rest of the team it is important we get back to a seven-man line-up as quickly as possible. But with the season a month old already it is not easy. “We had considered the option of waiting until the cut-off date for new averages, which is April 20, but on scrutinising the figures we discovered we’d have less points to play with, so that isn’t too good an option. We are talking to available riders, and are close to making one deal happen.”

Club announcement to media: VISSING MISSING: Danish Bandit Claus Vissing will miss the club’s League Cup match at Armadale on Friday evening, having been allocated a place in the Danish SGP Qualifier the same night. He will however fly back into Edinburgh on Saturday morning, ready to race for the club against Scunthorpe. With two riders missing on Friday, Berwick will be allowed a guest rider for one, and use the sport’s rider-replacement regulation for the other. Following consideration of the circumstances, Dennis McCleary and his fellow-promoters have called upon Peterborough’s in-form Michael Palm Toft, who raced at Elite League level for Belle Vue last season as a guest for Matic Voldrih. Vissing’s races will be covered by his team-mates, with the remaining Berwick riders all available to take a heat.

Whatever, they still defaulted big time. Certainly agree about last three paragraphs.

Claus Vissing and Alex Edberg getting extra track time at Somerset tomorrow for Rye House. -
So here we go: The other Scottish team. Honours even at Shielfield last year, with two wins apiece. What's going to happen in 2015? Bandits: 1. Ben Barker, 2. Matic Voldrih (r/r), 3. Kevin Doolan (captain), 4. Thomas Jorgensen, 5. Claus Vissing, 6. Alex Edberg, 7. Luke Crang. 8. Stefan Farnaby. Monarchs: 1. Craig Cook (captain), 2. Justin Sedgmen, 3. Kevin Wolbert, 4. Erick Riss, 5. Sam Masters, 6. Max Clegg, 7. Rob Branford.

Maybe short of the one that mattered? I do believe Matej Kus, who has been very much in evidence at Shielfield Park during the first two meetings, did go to his van and bring in the jet Matic Voldrih used in his later heats. All of which matters nowt nowt, following that Krsko crash. Get well soon, Matic.
-
I was told the improvement in his last two races on Saturday came after Matej Kus fiddled with his carburetter, loaned him a different jet. Certainly looked good in Heat 8, and had a fair head of steam up when he crashed out in Heat 10. Hope a few can send him get-well messages, as suggested in newsletter.
-
Absolutely correct, Deeks. My error. Berwick can amend 1-7 by bringing in a rider up to 5.66.
-
The CMA availability is currently 5.16, won't change much at the first break. Matic Voldrih will stay on his assessed 5.00, of course. Nearly all the names being bandied about (Matty, Pepe, Tresarrieu, etc) are too high to come in as a replacement.

Yes, it has. Full marks ("Excellent") to preparation, surface and fence. Again. Since you ask. -
Berwick V Glasgow (sat April 4) League Cup

Matej Kus took a heavy shoulder knock in false start of Heat 3 at Sheffield last night, was uncomfortable thereafter. This in addition to machinery difficulties resulting from the tangle with Ty Proctor. He is undergoing treatment to his shoulder today but would have been unable to race in Redcar's (now cancelled) meeting planned for tonight, and with such doubts Berwick and the rider have agreed his name should be withdrawn from Saturday's line-up. Berwick have therefore recruited his team-mate Lasse Bjerre (who had been lined up to race for the Bandits at Newcastle last week in another postponed meeting) to take up the No 1 slot tomorrow. -
E-Newsletter has a couple of interesting items tonight: POSTERS: As was announced on Saturday, a supply of bold, bright posters advertising Berwick Speedway are available -- free, of course -- from our Track Shop on race-nights. These, as can be seen, advertise all our matches in April. New posters will be released at the end of the month. We would be delighted if you could take one or more of these posters-- there are small A4 ones and larger A3 jobs -- away with you this Saturday, and put them up somewhere the public can see them and learn about our Saturday-night fun'n'games! In schools, on factory notice-boards, shop-windows, house windows -- anywhere and everywhere, spreading the good word about YOUR Dixon Building Bandits. REF'S REPORT: Did you know that after every meeting, the referee in charge of proceedings is required to file a report to the Speedway Control Bureau, detailing the night's events and marking the condition of the track on a sliding scale? Having just received a copy of Graham Flint's report of last Saturday's match, we thought we might share the first night's ratings. Track Preparation: Excellent. Track Surface: Excellent. Foam barrier (bends): Excellent. Regular safety-fence (straights): Excellent. Such overall praise is rare, and when we saw a report such as this, we just had to share it with you. Full marks and congratulations to George Hepburn and his talented track-team!

Bandits latest e-Newsletter confirms guests, etc: MATEJ ON SATURDAY - - SAM FOR SUNDAY: With Ben Barker's bashed-up hand not yet fully responding to treatment, your Dixon Building Bandits will deploy guest riders this weekend to cover for our missing man in the two League Cup matches against the big-money Tigers of Glasgow. At Shielfield Park on Saturday, Matej Kus returns to the team he served with such distinction in 2014. Hie liking for the Berwick circuit and his respect for our promotion means Matej will Czech in (sorry!) with high scoring on his mind. Go for it, Matej! On Sunday at Ashfield, we have invited Australia's Sam Masters to wear black-and-gold. As Sam was unbeaten by any of the Tigers in last Sunday's soggy stramash in Glasgow, we're hoping he'll just carry on winning all his races! The teams at Shielfield Park on Saturday night will now be: Bandits: 1. Matej Kus (guest), 2. Matic Volrih, 3. Kevin Doolan (captain), 4. Thomas Jorgensen, 5. Claus Vissing, 6. Alex Edberg, 7. Luke Crang. Tigers: 1. Richard Lawson, 2. Kozza Smith, 3. Aaron Summers (captain), 4. Dimitri Berge, 5. Nick Morris, 6. Victor Palovaara, 7. Ellis Perks (guest). -
Berwick's e-Newsletter on Tuesday night reported Luke Crang would be replacing Ben Morley at Redcar on Friday.

Kyle Bickley?

The question asked by Berwick's newsletter is "Are they (Glasgow) really that good?" Let's find out! Berwick: 1. Matej Kus (provisional guest), 2. Matic Voldrih, 3. Kevin Doolan (captain), 4. Thomas Jorgensen, 5. Claus Vissing, 6. Alex Edberg, 7. Luke Crang. Glasgow: 1. Richard Lawson, 2. Kozza Smith, 3. Aaron Summers (captain), 4. Dimitri Berge (woops!) 5. Nick Morris, 6. Victor Palovaara, 7. Ellis Perks (guest). Weather prospects look fair, holiday weekend, looks good for a big crowd. Edit: Nobody's perfect. (except on here)
-
The Glasgow team has been changed for Saturday (notification received after Newsletter was issued) and will now be: 1. Lawson, 2. Smith, 3. Summers, 4. Berge, 5. Morris, 6. Palovaara, 7. Ellis Perks.

Why? Who'll be the reserves for these teams in May?
