Not sure whether you think 3 to 4 points or 5 to 6 is what we should expect from Perks. He’s a battler but he’s not a trump card at reserve like Covatti, Douglas, Becker, Allen or Berge have been at times this season. His average is an underwhelming 3.57. Hopefully next season will see a break through for him.

How about a more intense season condensed into just ten or twelve weeks with 8 or 10 clubs riding against each other just twice (home and away) and with a home meeting every week, culminating in the play offs and grand final? May to July or June to August. It should focus the interest of the media and speedway fans and encourage more of them to travel to away matches.

Did you not see Darcy Ward?

Come on, Steve, that’s not saying much. Surely an entrepreneur of your considerable magnitude would never get out of bed for a meagre £50?
-
Pit might not be a bad idea. A few seasons in the Championship could give Poole a chance to re-build and maybe see Holder and Kurtz become proper number ones?

That’s a bit harsh! To be fair it will never burn down ...... there’s far too many willing to pee on it.

No, but I’ve heard the saying “Poole are out, yipppppeeeeee!”

Playoff Semi Final 2nd Leg. Ipswich v Poole 28/9/19

For those fans without tickets to Rome.

Trouble is, we don’t know if there’ll be two leagues or one league and what the team building limit will be. If it’s one league and a 38 point limit we’ll be lucky to have Jensen and Ellis!

Big decisions in November.

Hi Mike. I think you’re over-thinking it. If BT made it clear to me as an advertiser wanting to sell conservatories or Zimmer frames that speedway gets 50,000 viewers over the age of 60, I might want to advertise if the price were right, regardless of speedway’s rules, the sport’s coolness factor or whether or not there were only 200 people in the stadium. -

You often have sensible suggestions but I’m not with you on this one. I can’t think of any sport where I’m particularly aware of the crowd or the advertising or where I make any correlation between the two. If BT have crowd figures, there’s a clear audience for advertisers. -
Poole on their downward spiral. 44-46.

Poole are on a losing home streak so it’s doubtful that they will get any more points at all.

Apparently Ricky Wells is having physiotherapy on his troublesome shoulder tonight ....... from Matt and Muddlo.

“If you’re not prepared to die to win ...”? Are you mad? This is sport, not war.

No, not saying Crump was not a legend. Just taking issue with your view that he was more of a Swindon legend than Ashby. -

Yes, apologies for my remark in that sense. I just remembered him riding for other teams. Looks like he rode for 9, compared to Ashby’s 3. -

Just looked it up on Wikipedia. Looks like a journeyman! “The Crump family had a home in Bristol while Phil was racing in the British League, which he started doing in 1971 with the Crewe Kings. He also rode for the Newport Wasps, Wolverhampton Wolves, Oxford Cheetahs, Hackney Hawks, King's Lynn Stars, Ipswich Witches, Bristol Bulldogs and Swindon Robins during his British career.” -

I went to speedway from 1975 to 1978 and started again in 2005. I remember Martin Ashby as a Swindon speedway legend in the 70s and Phil Crump riding for Bristol and Newport. It was hard enough to accept Bob Kilby coming back from Oxford without you telling me that Crump became more of a legend than Ashby! P.S. chill. -

Ashby and Adams are out and out club legends for Swindon. Crump and Doyle are journeymen in comparison, without the same timeless commitment to the club. -

Like you said, let it go. You won’t get the time back and you’re best advised to rise above it. -

Crump before Ashby and Doyle before Adams? Just, no.
