Not sure what you would have thought the bspa could have done here. Clubs are like franchises. The bspa can only report what they are told. If Horton told the bspa to stick around, and there would be more info later, thats all they knew.

I have never witnessed such a shocking performance of a speedway promoter sticking his head in the sand. Whilst hands can be tied as to what is said in the public arena, club statements can still be issued to keep the beleaguered club's fans up to date on proceedings without giving much away. The silence eminating from Mick Horton is deafening. I can't blame Neil Watson as he is an employee of Hortons. Wrong place at the wrong time for Neil. Bet he wished he was anywhere else at this time. But the dreadful way this has panned out for the fans has wrecked the name of the club and all its past history. The fans have been treated with utter contempt. Not answering the phone or returning the local newspapers calls is amateurish in the extreme. What is he frightened of? The truth getting out? Is he happy for the truth to come out in dribs and drabs as then he doesn't have to do it himself? Gutless.

Unfortunately for you he is not. He is the son of the bspa chairman Buster Chapman. I believe you can take his information as 100% correct.

Wouldn't it be funny if Sandhu's stox meetings now got contunuously disrupted by Coventry fans. Not that I would condone this in any way, shape or form.
-
Very sad news to lose a club. Sandhu finally getting his way. And to think some actually supported him on here. Feel for the riders, some of whom will miss out on a job, and feel for the long suffering Coventry fans who had to watch their club slowly wrecked by someone only interested in building houses. The removal of assets at Coventry Stadium was an act of vandalism with the sole purpose of bringing about this result.

Horton stood in a burning Brandon The wind was blowing a gale The arsonists had finished the job And Sandhu had nicked the shale I'll get me coat.

Shame I couldn't make the quiz last night but was in Sussex all day and due to the train strikes the roads were particularly busy. Didn't get back to Poole till gone 7 so too much of a rush. Sure I missed another good evening as the quizes Nij puts together are alwwys entertaining. As for Gavan, his attitude on the Poole threads is antagonistic and causes friction. Posts where he tries to be constructive are ruined by a dig at 'certain Poole fans', either calling them names are dissing them by saying they won't debate. The problem is Gavans viewpoint is twisted to anti Poole. Quite a few Poole fans have wised up to this. Lisa the latest victim as she has seen through him. And no matter how hard he moans about the way his posts are treated in general on the Poole threads, a change of attitude is needed over a long period of time for people to start acknowledging his posts. For me the horse has already bolted and its impossible to debate with someone so negative towards our riders and club.

Because there's no failure to get excited about.

What about the local newspaper? Dont they have an investigation team? They have been in contact with Brandon estates, so who are they? Very suprised the paper hasn't reported a lot more rather than wait for information to come to them.
-
Whys that? Brandon Estates now building in graveyards?
-
Thats Gemini.

There he goes again. And he wonders why he is viewed with mostly contempt on the Poole forum. And who the hell is Alanis Morrisette? Never heard of them. Edit. just googled the name and she is a alternative Canadian/American rock singer from the 90's. No wonder I haven't heard of her. Edit 2. I have played the track Ironic, and do recognise it. Wouldn't have had a clue who the artist was though.

No one likes to hear a gew home truths about themselves, least of all sportsmen with egos larger than the averageperson. Speedway riders are no different. When a normal person gets an earful its only them and that person. With a sportsman its the world listening in and the defences come up pretty fast. Watty was abysmal and looking back now I bet he would agree. With Poole there is no hiding place. Matt will not carry a rider in the team for long and he did have awarning that his form needed to improve. All water under the bridge now anyway. When Davey finally hangs up his kevlars he can look back at his career with pride.
-
Hope this is true. If a rent can be set that is fair and gives the opportunity of the speedway clubs survival that would be good news. What I don't understand, however, is why the BSPA would want Mark Hennessy? What experience has this person got at speedway promotion for the BSPA to want him as their preferred option? A genuine question.

Would be more than happy to see Davey Watt have a great season in 2017. He has been constant in the EL for many years. But last year his head was not in the right place and he was woeful. It didn't improve when he went to Leicester either. Perhaps the break has focussed his mind, and being happy in life again always helps. He will always be well received by the fans when he comes to Poole. But Poole definately did the right thing in releasing him last season. Hopefully a move to a new club will give him several more seasons of racing before he calls in quits.
-
Didn't realise just how close the two tracks are. I drove past the turning for Beaumont Leys and 25 minutes later I was outside Brandon. If Coventry don't run Leicester is very close to watch some racing. Clearly it won't be the same but better than nothing. Trouble is that its not the same as watching your own club though you could support the oppostion. In the whole I have always looked forward to my trips to Brandon due to the quite intense rivalry and this will be sorely missed if Coventry don't run.

Trouble is he doesn't understand the difference between an opinion and trolling. If he doesn't agree with it, its trolling. Yet he got pulled up on here this morning for coming onto the Poole thread and slagging off our riders in Aus. Lisa-Collette summed it up perfectly and now she is under attack from him as she has sussed him completely out. If it wasn't trolling, then why didn't he go on the somerset thread to criticise Tungate? Gavans hatred of all things Poole wreck the Poole thread as he takes every opportunity to dig the knife in. He is bound to get a reaction and when it comes he starts throwing abuse and name calling at other forum members. Lisa is the latest. He does it to me I report it to the mods. Simple. Certainly never going to get into any kind of conversation with him.

Wouldn't give up yet, but the fans should really be kept in the loop. So why did workmen go into Brandon between Christmas and New Year to tidy up? Did Sandhu send them in, realising the vandalism caused looked very bad and a tidy up might not look so bad if it came to court? If the place now has no floodlights, how can speedway run? New lighting would cost a small fortune. I suppose lighting can be brought in every week and powered from centre green generators but hiring is not cheap, especially with the amount of light required to light up the speedway track to an acceptable level.
-
Oh dear your turn for the trolls bile. He has been caught out on here and you are now a face for him to vent his venom. Lol. Pretty sure you can handle it. But he has overstepped the mark with me so I have reported him for his abusive posts. I don't tolerate people calling others names on here. Its meant to be a discussion forum and people like Gavan bring the place down to an unacceptable level with his constant moronic attacks.

At this time the club has no owner, and therefore no money. Surely rather than no speedway at all, a few people could get together and run a NL team on the old track. This would surely be preferrable to having no speedway at all. The costs would be minimal in comparison to taking on a top flight team in a stadium which has so far proved to be too expensive to run. Can you understand now why I suggested this? I don't believe the idea is unwarranted at all and needs to be considered.
-
Gloating? Are you truly mad? Why on earth would I gloat over the demise of a club? I said it was terrible news and it is. The very respected Gordon Pairman has just pulled the plug on his efforts to run Belle Vue. I believe its a complete smokescreen to say he is out of the country in January. That might have been a decent excuse years ago but you can be in complete contact in the middle of the Atlantic. It doesnt matter where you are if you have a phone signal as facetime and Skype work just fine. Why would he need to be in the room? More than likely he didn't like what he saw and pulled the plug. I do hope for Belle Vues sake that there are others who are willing to spend, by the sound of it, vast amounts of money to get the club back on an even keel. Unwarranted? Are people on here not allowed to have an opinion on what is going on at Belle Vue? Pairman pulling out is clearly worth debating. Too many on here trying to be politically correct and afraid of speaking out on an issue. If you think Pairman pulling out is good news then fair enough. Pairman pulling out. Belle Vue's options getting smaller with the clock ticking. I hope that something can be sorted but the season starts in about 8 weeks time with the fixture list published in a couple of weeks. Time for this preferred option to get his hands in his pockets and cough up the readies.
-
Terrible news for Belle Vue. Looking pretty desperate right now. Feel sorry for the fans and the riders who need to get fixed up. Is the track next door still there? Running a NL team at the old track might be a solution?
-
Doesn't fit his trolling agenda. Absolutely in a nutshell you have summed him up perfectly. Has he posted on the Somerset thread about how badly Tungate has done today? He was desperately eager to come on here and report how badly our two were doing. You are so spot on with your please do badly post. His post proved just how much of a troll on the Poole threads he is as most Poole fans are not bothered by these meetings as they are pretty meaningless to what transpires in our league and anyone with speedway knowledge knows this. He'll be back soon with some disparaging post about me but we all know what he is. The only good news is I won't read it as he's blocked unless quoted.

With this winter being so benign there has been nothing to hold up the construction of this new stadium. No snow, not much rain, no bitter winds. A bit of frost but that wouldn't stop construction from taking place. Since the end of last season Blunsdon has seen two or three guys, a portacabin and their joint offorts have seen some metal cages filled with pebbles. In Ten weeks. No groundworks, no marking out, nothing. Questions now need to be asked. The Advertiser should start an investigation into exactly is actually going on here. They are clearly completely taking the p*ss and the token three men in a portacabin to pretend something is going on just doesn't wash. Time for the Swindon fans to start shouting about this. Loudly.
