Poole Vs Scunny league 24th May
Steve Shovlar replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well done to Ryan Douglas a class above everyone else tonight. Though Ben Cook might have had a sniff in heat 15 but no, Douglas powered from the gate and was gone. Punched the air when crossing the line. ‘Scunthorpe put up a very decent fight, with Simon Lambert having his best ever meeting at Poole. Heat 4 was a complete mess though with Ben Cook falling in a race he would normally have won and a normal 5-1 from the Cooks turned into a 2-4 which set the tone for the first half of the meeting. Eventually Pirates got the upper hand and pulled away but it wasn’t easy. Douglas could have had 15 rides and would have been unbeaten. -

Not sure I would have chosen Sedgmen as a guest and perhaps would have preferred rr but an incident could stuff us so see the reasoning. Get well soon Lawson, you are needed! A glorious day in Poole. Patio doors open at 8.30. Hopefully the track won’t be too wet at the start of the meeting and will be regularly watered throughout the meeting! -

Turner looks like he could be a decent rider given the chance. Trigger is a bit like Nathan Ablitt and raw. What about Sam Hagon? Has he been picked up? -

Only idiots and morons would expect more from Ben Cook in his first season in the top flight. He has big potential. Anyone with knowledge of the sport can spot the talent a mile away. -

Big crash for Richard Lawson in heat 15 at Leicester. -
I it wasn’t for the Pole this would be a snooze fest.

Jesus Christ the cameras completely missed the passing!

First Eurosport meeting of the season so teething probs. Main camera doesn’t seem high enough. No one for Kelvin to share commentary with. As for the racing, typical Leicester. Very small crowd but the football team are playing tonight on tv. That would have cost a lot of customers.

It’s not going to be a 60+ scoreline. I remember fans saying we would rip Plymouth a new one and it was 45-45. Pirates should win this with relative ease but 51-39 is more realistic. And staying away as meetings are too easy brings about clubs folding. As Poole are one of the strongest, if you don’t support them against teams like Scunthorpe, you will only go one or two times a season! -

That’s a fairly weak lineup there. Douglas is good at Poole and Mountain at reserve should bang in a few points, but struggling to see how Scunthorpe can keep this one close. -
Redcar vs Poole BSN SF 2nd leg 20th May

While Basso is young, Vissing is in the twilight of his career. Both Ben, and especially Zach, are young riders learning their way. Vissing isn’t as good as he was (though still a very decent rider) It will be interesting to see who is the better rider in a couple of years time between the Cooks and Basso. I expected Ben Basso to have a Stellar rise last year but it failed to materialise. Perhaps it was a year of consolidation. Will Basso have a career path of Nikolai Klindt or Nicki Pedersen? I don’t expect either of the Cooks to have such a career but both could make solid heat leaders in both the Championship and Premier league. -

Noticeable how good the Cook pairing have become. Ben Cook has come on leaps and bounds and is now a proper heat leader. Just seems to improve week on week. Zach is being dragged along and also striding forward. Both riding in the Premier helps no end. To be honest I expected Redcar to come out fighting but they were never given the opportunity. Hume and Bailey were no match for Cook and R/R tonight, and Edwards had a mare. Mulford is finding it as tough as Ablitt found it at Poole last season. Those that had Redcar as favourites for the league might have to re-assess. Glasgow look the strongest team but will they see off a Poole team in the final? Should be a thriller. Record viewing figures for BSN? -

Think Plymouth would have put up more of a fight. Very surprised just how easy this was, especially after Wednesday. -

Heat 11 was correct call. Worrall well past Edwards. Not like Doyle Zmarzlik. we must stop dropping points to ef’s. -

Glasgow will probably cry off. Best chance they have.
