  1. Everyone will be cheering him on...don't want to see Hansi back really... great popularity and 2012 captain and all that...but on current form 7.00 average and only 5th. in the Cov averages...not in Darcia's league now. Looking forward to seeing Batch, Killer and Doyley, members of that great title-winning squad, at Cardiff tomorrow, along with a few other ex-Robins Zagar, Janowski, Jonasson, Krackerjack.
  2. Tai on Radio 2 last night...good exposure with 6 million listeners.
  3. Let's not forget the late Lee Richardson...was on the podium 11 years ago.
  4. Decent weather and crowd...Wolves were abysmal again at The Abbey...Zengy superb, now moves above Batch into top 20 of EL averages, cant see how he can be dropped if Ward signs. Lindgren used to be the top rider in league poor show although Batch and Hansi and Zagar are also having poor seasons by their standards.
  5. They can and will. Lost 4 plastic bottles of water the first time I went there. Managed to retrieve 2 out of the skip though when they weren't looking! Now wear trousers with lots of pockets. Good to hear Radio 2 feature on the Cardiff extravaganza at about 6.45 this evening, and interview with Tai. They said will be 60,000 there...more like 45,000! Great to see a Brit leading and should be a great atmosphere. Train departs for Swindon at 9.00, hopefully meeting will be concluded by 8.15? Park and walk last year for 10 quid! massive queues for buses...that's why we're going by rail. I would park in one of the side streets nearer the stadium if I was driving. Always seem to get stuck on M4 going, easy coming out if you avoid city centre and head for Cardiff West junction.
  6. Pretty soon the only place to buy a confederate flag will be the black market...oh the irony!
  7. Was great to watch the racing from the centre-green, appreciate the speed, team riding, tactics, and close combat, looks a lot more dangerous! The crowd looks even more sparse, and the track half the size. What a load of bollox a few armchair/keyboard warriors talk on here... Belle Vue deservedly beat The Robins, all-round strength, must be in with a great chance of a League title, the first in many years. We gave them a well-deserved round of applause. Batch's bike definitely cut out in the first race, and it's sad when a guest is their top rider. On this performance not good enough for a top 4, radical overhaul needed. The crowd was only about half the size of the last meeting, great weather though, and the chips were lovely!
  8. Don't think Rosco and Doyley get on that well according to me bruv who spoke to ex-Robin in Adelaide this year...same with North Dakota.
  9. Nonsense I've never heard screaming and shrieking from the Bakers bogs. Still a concern that the Blunsdon back-straight bogs wont be incorporated into the new stadium plan, which will surely result in the disbanding of the back-straight bog crew, in existence since 1949.
  10. Flux knows? Wont be doing park and ride this year after last years shambles. Train from Swindon-Cardiff if timings allow...otherwise will be driving and parking near stadium.
  11. Looking forward to watching a heat from the centre-green on Thursday...will go 48-42 to The Rampant Rockin Red Robins. Zagar will do better this time round. Be interesting to see how many show up after last meeting. Speaking to one of the main sponsors was saying it wasn't promoted well enough. Wardy signing would put a few hundred on the gate...superb talent far better than Batch. Still no sign of a start to the new stadia. Good to see a 2012 Elite League Champions photo at the Bakers Arms, Badbury...best chish n'fips around!
  12. Hopefully will be repeated on Quest Freeview 37 tomorrow.
  13. Briggo was fortunate to win that after Blueboy Booey had an engine failure from what I can remember, Briggo for me was a class apart in the mid 60s. Monkey was just behind Briggo and Booey in the averages and I think he won the Internationale that year at Wimbledon, beating the likes of Briggo, Booey, Fundin, Nordin, and Bjorn Knutson of The Ammers. Remember Hedger, Nygren, Luckhurst at Plough Lane, and Knutson, Harrfeldt, McKinlay at West Am, not forgetting the legend Squibbo at New Cross in 63, the year I started watching the sport, and unfortunately the year it finished in sarf-east London. We moved from London to Swindon in 68 where Briggo and Broady were riding. I suppose Custom House is part of the City Airport complex now?
  14. 18 quid for 10 minutes of racing...Crap value! At least at Blunsdon peeps only had to pay a fiver last week. Feel sorry for the Cov fans. Sky always calling the tune, how the track is prepared... etc.,
  15. That famous pairing at Blunsdon ..Killer and Driller!.. Not good if the skip is messing about..did he have the squits or not!?
  16. If me auntie had bollox she would be me uncle IF they had R/R instead of Batch and/or Killer would have been more of a hammering
  17. Why do they bother with a victory lap...most of the crowd have gone, and the riders are just chatting or looking at their phones. Needs to be more rapport between fans and riders. Coventry lost because Robson, JK(useless) and Bomber(very poor) couldn't win a race, should have taken advantage of the Batch horror show, and Morra Howarth North and Zengy were excellent. 9-6 heat wins to the Rockin Robins.
  18. R.I.P.... saw Arne ride for Oxford at Swindon in the 60s.
  19. Don't know, my pooch would be petrified of the noise! Only racing dogs possibly? Just bought the local rag and the match has taken over a quarter of the front page with action shot!!! Howarth named as reserve for World Cup.
  20. Took my nephew for the first time...recovering from depression after the Town defeat at Wembley!...he loved it and will be back for more in 3 weeks time...only 1 meeting in June though!!!He was fortunate he didn't have to visit the back-straight bogs or pay 17 quid! One of the best meetings I've seen at The Abbey since 1968. Great atmosphere on the back-straight with a smattering of Bees fans amongst a noisy Swindon crowd and no aggro. The Howarth-Morris 5-1 turned the match. Batch shouldn't have ridden if he was that ill, Swindon would have scored more with R/R. After the Poole fiasco early in the season it was good to see the fans returning, almost double the usual crowd. As Rosco said Swindon rode better as the track dried out, was dampened down for the benefit of Sky cameras early on. If paying a fiver cant get fans off their arse and away form Sky what can!!! It's a 10/12 quid sport anyway. Great future in store for Swindon Speedway with the new stadium construction due to start next month, which should attract more fans to the sport.
  21. Agree... but still a disappointing drive back up to the midlands for the Cov fans. A superb advert for Elite League speedway in Britain. Good to see so many Englishmen in the Bees team.
