Fantastic meeting...superb comeback from Swindon to beat the league leaders...car park full...good weather...2000 plus crowd, good racing and atmosphere...if only all meetings were like this...well worth the promo. Hope Hansi is ok... GO YOU RAMPANT RED ROCKIN ROBINS!!! -

Triffik win for those Roscos Randy Rampant Red Rockin Robins coming from behind...bring on the Bees, the midlands number 1 side -
Swindon trackman BIG RON on the show tonight being interviewed in a pub about the event when he chinned the geezer who was trying to kidnap Princess Anne. Received the George Medal for his troubles. GERTCHA SON!!!

Nearly as bad as Swindon-Poole over a month ago...left after heat 11,( first time I've ever left before the end), had been stood there for 3 hours for 12 minutes of racing! Haven't returned since. 3 Swindon riders were taken to hospital, meeting was eventually abandoned through lack of medical cover. Have better things to spend my hard-earned dosh on. And probably a few of the 2500 crowd thought the same. The ref Robinson didn't help matters constantly stopping races with belated red-light decisions. Pants!

Swindon - Wolves 30.4.15

Looks like this season The Elite could be one of the most closely contested for a while..hopefully. -

Some of the bollox you come out with son...no Swindon team fails under The Great Emperor Rosco! Wolves are awful at Blunsdon, apart from that superb comeback last year, Freddie a very poor number 1, and they really miss TW. Definite bottom 4 for those Big Black Country Dogs I fear. -

52-38 to those Rampant Red Rockin Robins...Wolves wont live with Morra, Killer, Batch, Howarth and will be sent back up to the Black Country licking their wounds! GO ROBINS!!! -
Occasionally listen to Vic's show on the internet as worked with him for the Inland Revenue and played cricket and football together in Swindon in the 70s. Massive STFC fan, never misses a game home or away, and sometimes visits Blunsdon to see the Robins when in the area. Nice geezer.

Used to sell accident insurance to the speedway riders, footballers, jockeys/stable lads, sportsmen of Swindon and Reading in Wiltshire and Berkshire via Combined insurance of America and also Alico(don't know if they're still going). Small premium for such high-risk activities £42 for 6 months cover but the payouts weren't great. more surprising was the amount of riders that didn't want it! And it guaratnteed free entry at Blunsdon and Smallmead..brill!

I've watched horses play Badminton and they are generally very good apart from their clumsiness around the court..not cruel at all.

Rip Ritchie Benaud

Superb commentator and cricketer, up there with Johnston, McGillvray, Arlott, Trueman. Could have done with him at the World Cup final than the Star Sports rookies, terrible TV. He put his brain in gear before opening his mouth. -
not forgetting topless darts, and nude hanggliding. Watch football(come on you Gunners)on tv, horse racing live and on tv, Bath/Gloucester rugby union(tv/live), Surrey cricket(live/tv), Wimbledon tennis, golf(play only...badly!), ice hockey..Swindon Wildcats, athletics, Aussie rules footie.

Swindon V Lakeside Thur 9th April
van wolfswinkel replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
You need a 30-plus year break like I had!63--72, then 2004-present... Although since watching for a 2nd.time since 2004 losing a bit of enthusiasm meself after the 3-hour meeting on Monday . At least the weather was good, and we sat on the chairs. You don't get any atmosphere at speedway now. Will probably go a few more times this year then look forward to the new stadium next year and a guaranteed seat. The music is ok..AC/DC is compulsory at speedway stadia. -
I went to a game at The Den once and a football match broke out That's what pees me off about following The Gunners, saw some right rubbish in the 60s/70s in crowds of about 20000 at Highbury, near relegation, now the posh hospitality brigade moan if they only finish 4th, and you cant get a ticket with 60000 capacity every home game, have to pay to get on waiting list for a season ticket!

They do a nice line of padded silk jackets with eagles on the back and front! Unfortunately just sums some speedway fans up. No point moaning about the weather the forecast is rarely right, Pity some fans had to travel a fair distance. Well done for re-arranging the meeting for Monday. I live 2 miles from the track and thought no way is this meeting going ahead tonight. Rare you get more than 50-100 Poole fans turn up at Blunsdon, and same with Coventry. The away support is generally poor thesedays and some teams only bring 10-20 at the most..no atmosphere at speedway now. -

van wolfswinkel replied to False dawn's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The entrance money to the Cardiff GP hasn't gone up in 10 years..29 quid is good value. The Elite League has weakened but they have still put prices up in the last 10 years. Swindon's crowds are down by about 500 per meeting, but GP attendances have been pretty consistent in this period. -
