  1. Surely they can't afford to have another season in 2008 like this year? They can hardly save costs by reducing the strength of the team, even when they are relegated to the Allsvenskan next year - it's more or less an Allsvenskan strength team already! Can they not take a 1-year break from the League, then come back in 2009?
  2. Yep. Bound to be 30 or 40 of us, hope we will see you! He won't be happy you spelt his name wrong though
  3. No BFD! Next saturday June 30! Been at the amber nectar again???
  4. Ah yes, one of the great moments of GP racing, and we had a perfect view of it from just behind the start line! Still laugh today whenever I think about that. Sadly Crumpy got his come-uppance when he fell on the first bend! Anyway, after 3 rides each at Miskolc, Schlein (8 pts) and Holder (6) are both in qualifying positions ...
  5. BFD, in this week's Speedway Star Johnno says of the Australian SWC team: "If some of those guys in their early twenties are riding the same as me, it would be better for Australia if they were picked ... we have to give the youngsters that experience" So it'll be Holder then! P.S We met on the 2004 Ullevi Gothenburg trip!
  6. Full result from Terenzano, thanks to Giorgio Lazzari, who posted this to the yahoo groups list: 1 IVERSEN 33333 15 2 PAVLIC 12333 12+3 3 DUBRUCKI 21333 12+2 4 HALL 23223 12+F 5 LEGAULT 32222 11 6 KLINGBERG 30331 10 7 JOHNSTON 32122 10 8 HOWE 21221 8+3 9 MOLLER 13112 8+2 10 FERJAN 01112 5 11 MAIDA 03100 4 12 STOJS 0120F 3 13 FRANCHETTI 2F010 3 14 FRANC 12R00 3 15 GREGNANIN 10011 3 16 GREGORIC 00001 1 17 MILANESE DNR
  7. Lonigo, Italy July 7, Ljubljana, Slovenia July 8 Fantastic performance by Kyle!
  8. Can anyone tell me at which track Kaparna's meeting was held? Thanks
  9. Sounds like one of those situations where SVEMO are damned if they act to try and do something about the situation, and damned if they don't! No doubt the "do nothing" brigade will win in the end.
  10. No, just four qualifiers (i.e quarter-finals) Then 2 semi-finals, and a Final. BUT a few riders have been seeded directly to the SEMI-finals.
  11. Thanks to you both for your help, but the website only has the Pit Shirt, not the t-shirt. Sandie - I'll e-mail you
  12. Great, but I just wanted to buy a Bomber shirt to support him at the GP's and World Cup. I thought I might have a problem getting one, since I've hardly seen anyone wearing one at the GP's so far. Can I buy one at the GP merchandise stalls? No way - no t-shirts for any riders, useless! Can I buy one from Bomber's web site? Amazingly, no ... there is a "shop" on the site, but it dosen't actually sell anything OR give even an address or phone number to contact. He should be cashing in on his GP riding, not missing out on a lot of potential revenue! I'm not a Coventry fan, and don't live anywhere near Brandon, so I can't go there and buy one. So how do I get a Bomber t-shirt ???
  13. Colin Gooddy - there was a great favourite at Sunday afternoon speedway at Eastbourne in the 60's, along with Pete Jarman, Jim Heard, Ron Swaine etc Not to mention those young Dugard brothers, Bob and John. Now that was cut-throat racing, when those two raced each other! Bob, of course, still bombs around Arlington, I'm sure he must hold the track record for a tractor driver.
  14. It was 7 Sept 1964 against Middlesbrough Actually "Reg" didn't do too bad, he scored 4+2 from 3 rides. Even then, some riders had problems with the Exeter track!
  15. While in Sweden last week, I found a Swedish magazine called "Dirt Track" (I guess it just dosen't translate!), which some of you may be interested in. It's very similar to the UK's Vintage Speedway Magazine. The copy I have is number 4, has 36 pages, all in Swedish naturally, but includes excellent pics (including from pre-war Sweden, and a great 1949 Vargarna team pic with a young Olle Nygren), and article and memoirs of Dan Forsberg. Cost 30 kroner (£2.30), contact address is gunnar.hagberg@nt.se
  16. Positions in a particular GP are determined by the riders' postions in the final. Positions in the GP SERIES are determined by the accumulated points. Easy peasy!
  17. It's all a long way from, say, the Cardiff GP, isn't it? Although I bet the track was better at Camberley ...
  18. The report I have of Camberley starts "For the first time in history dirt-track racing has been held in England!" But the racing was clockwise The telegraph poles on the inside line were a novel touch
  19. I seem to remember that the circumstances fo David's death were never released at the time (2004). Has it since been confirmed that it was suicide?
  20. According to a contemporary report (The Motor Cycle), the first Audenshaw meeting had "thrills, but no broadsiding". It says that "the surface is the typical comparatively hard cinder track, similar to that used for pedal cycle racing." Neither of the Australians, Keith MacKay or Billy Galloway, were able to demonstrate broadsiding because of the surface. In other words, it was not a "loose" surface, which I always think is one of the essential elements in defining speedway (dirt-track) racing. By that definition, of course, High Beech 19 Feb 28 wasn't speedway either. Just a personal opinion!
  21. Not according to the Gdansk fixture list at http://www.lotosgdansk.pl/serwis/terminarz/9
  22. chris67bug, Kenny Carter has been discussed many times on this Forum. There was a good discussion last year at http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/ind...topic=24051&hl= If you put "kenny carter" into this site's search engine, you'll find many discussions about him. There are, understandably, a lot of strong feelings about him, both pro and anti. Backtrack are publishing a new book about him soon.
  23. Many thanks for all the details, Anders, much appreciated. Going to be a tough season for Kaparna, isn't it? Team looks weak, no home track ...
