  1. Norbold, the match was declared void because the contract of Graham Drury, who scored 10 points in Oxford's win at Rye House on Apr 4, had not been registered at the BSPA. Oxford were heavily defeated 64-32 in the re-run on Sept 26.
  2. I'm surprised the moderators haven't done something about this - I've never seen such blatant advertising on this forum! This degree of SPAM is well out of order, I reckon! Didn't quite catch the name of that website ...
  3. You can watch the weekly Swedish Elitserien matches on line by going to http://tv4.se/sport/ On the menu in italics at the top left, click on TV, then on Speedway. Still some of last season's matches available to view, including both legs of the play-off finals. I'm assuming you have broadband!
  4. Go to http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/speedway2/tourtntc.htm

  6. Any results from that meeting, Ozyace? Neither Pinjar Park or Bunbury seem to have a website
  7. Like many fans, I'm all in favour of indoor speedway - provided the track is good. But Cardiff was nothing short of a disgrace this year, and if that track had been served up at an outdoor speedway for a league match, I think there would have been doubts about whether the riders would have agreed to ride. At the top level, speedway should be a test of skill and speed - NOT a lottery! Parken was a reasonable track this year, but the best 2 GP's by far were at Krsko and Bydgoszcz, where Olsen left the dirt on the tracks. I'm willing to go to the (provisional!) German GP next year, and hope it's a success, but the pricing will be crucial if they are to attract the all-important Polish fans across the border.
  8. Mariusz, official results are at the AMA website at http://www.amadirectlink.com/amrace/2006/speedway/round3.asp
  9. A controversial incident at Pardubice in the third and final round of the second semi-final. Adams had already qualified for the final, so chose not to compete. Nicki Pedersen had already qualified too - but, strangely, chose to ride. The reason soon became clear. Nicholls missed the gate, but got up to third on the final lap, behind leader Pedersen (who had been continually looking behind him throughout the race), and second place Kasprzak. This would have meant that Nicholls would have qualified for the Final, and not Kasprzak. But on the run-in to the chequered flag, Pedersen - still looking behind - slowed dramatically, allowing Kasprzak to win, and replacing Nicholls in the Final. If he goes to those lengths to prevent somebody qualifying, I can only assume that Pedersen was frightened of meeting Nicholls in the Final ! Then, to make Nicholls' day, he stalled on the line in the Consolation Final.
  10. The crowd wanted Tomicek to win the trophy, which was a memorial for his grandfather, and he led the scorers with 14 points in the qualifying heats. He had been beaten only by young Croatian Jurica Pavlic, who beat him again in the final, but Josef Franc outgated them both to win a Jawa engine. Pavlic proved at both Prague and Pardubice that he is an excellent gater, though it has to said that I don't recall him actually passing anyone at either venue. But he's a gutsy kid, and would NOT throttle back when Rymel took him wider ... and wider ... and wider, in one race at Prague. The meeting, unfortunately, featured freestyle motocross jumpers (with a 10 foot high landing ramp which remained on the centre green throughout the meeting), cheerleaders (who performed even while the races were going on), a rather good fireworks display, a cops-and-robbers type chase (yeah, I was baffled too), an under-15 race, gymnastics displays by the cheerleaders, a BMX display - oh, and 23 speedway races. But no amount of variety could disguise what was a lower quality field than is usual for this event. By the way, the Italian Guglielmo Franchetti is completely mad, out of control rather too often, and extremely entertaining. But you wouldn't choose to be riding the same speedway track as him!
  11. Still no official news from the AMA apparently, 48 hours after the event, and nothing on their website. These UNOFFICIAL series results were posted on the American discussion group: Greg Hancock 36 14 20+1 57 1 Billy Hamill 35 13 18 53 2 Mike Faria 29 12 16 45 3 Charlie Venegas 36 10 9 45 4 Tommy Hedden 19 12 14 33 5 Nate Perkins 18 8 11 29 T6 Eddie Castro 19 9 10 29 T6 Bryan Yarrow 20 6 8 28 8 Bart Bast 15 11 12 27 9 Shawn McConnell 14 6 7 21 10 Bobby Shwartz 15 3 4 19 11 Shaun Harmatiuk 10 5 6 16 12 Josh Larsen 15 0 0 15 13 Buck Blair 7 4 5 12 14 Gary Hicks 5 0 0 5 15 Josh West 1 3 3 16 Wieslaw Oskiewicz 2 0 0 2 T17 Ivan Severt 2 2 2 T17
  12. Always amazes me when UK fans come on here and criticise foreign riders for riding in meetings in their own country! Presumably all the British riders should let their Polish or Swedish fixtures take priority when there is a clash of dates?
  13. Topinka did not compete in either of the semi-finals
  14. Hazzman, 2006 Finnish Champion is Kaj Laukkanen (July 1, Seinajoki) 2006 Finnish U-21 Champion is Teemu Lahti (Aug 12, Haapajarvi) 2006 Norwegian Champion is Rune Sola (Aug 20, Elgane) 2006 Russian Champion is Renat Gafurov (Sep 16, Togliatti) 2006 Russian U-21 Champion is Alexei Kharchenko (Aug 23, Togliatti) 2006 Polish U-21 Champion is Karol Zabik (Aug 5, Torun)
  15. I was confused too, Subedei, which was why I asked for details on here. What a wonderful idea, and I hope Greg was rewarded with a big crowd.
  16. Does anyone have the results of this meeting? Thanks!
  17. Probably best to go to the Canadian SRA site at http://www.speedwaybikes.com/canada/csra/contact.htm and someone there can ask Mike Tams.
  18. Result from Sweden VMS Elit 52 - Hampel 15(5), CRUMP 12(5), Holta 12(5), Richardson 6+2(5) Vastervik 43 - Hlib 11+3(6), Gollob 11(6), Ulamek 9(6), BJARNE PEDERSEN 4(4) Att: 7,901 ! Full details at http://www.speedway.nu/2006/Report.asp?ElitF.CD VMS Elit win on aggregate 103-88
  19. How many of VMS's 18 league matches has Crump ridden in? Just THREE! Belle Vue fans deserve better than this
  20. The EL Knock-Out Cup is in no way a Mickey Mouse meeting. K O Cups have a long history in the UK and are second only to the league title in importance.
  21. Apart from London, Manchester, and Glasgow, speedway was also raced at White City Cardiff, AND White City Hull (1930)!
  22. Try http://www.speedway.org/history/index.htm
  23. Not surprising. Lindback picked up a knee injury Monday, then surprisingly rode at Poole on Thursday, but pulled out of the meeting after a couple of rides. Poland to win by 12 points
