  1. not sure they raced less, you had big individuals where they all met up, like olympique, blue riband, golden sovereign, pride of the east, star of Anglia, was grand prix series in 70s, was test match, golden helmet, thats before strong british final, overseas final commonwealth final, intercontinental and world final, id say they raced each other loads!!
  2. proper relegation would keep it interesting at the bottom in a "professional" sport...trouble is teams for some reason choose to go down!
  3. it was kings lynn, maybe because I knew this bloke was genuine, not a freebie grabber, he was purely interested in finding a hobby for his boy.. by the way, I started cruising by booking a 2 day taster, not knowing if id like it, I now had 6 cruises, so it worked for them. no, kings lynn wasn't interested (which I clearly understand) there response was "we have one last match, its free for kids, £11 adults".....that was it. no mention of what match it was, no date, no start time......now I had no gripes with there answer to the query, but my god, PR in speedway is pretty non exsistant!!
  4. at no point did I mention I would expect them to ride at a loss, that's a crazy statement..sport is competitive, you play/ride to win, its "normally" done by those with talent, to want to be the best...emil is capable of being the best. to me, imo, I dont understand a rider of his ability to turn down the chance of being world champion....
  5. had interesting chat to a would be newcomer today..so much so, I emailed his query to a elite league promotion..(which was replied too) the conversation was as follows. my mate has a 4yr 6 month boy, his dad watch speedway on tv and the boy liked a bit when the tractor was going round, (think recent Swedish match).. so my mate asked me today "do speedway have tasters, for would be new fans? id like to take my boy along, but if he don't like it and wanna go home, I may want to leave by heat 4, if he"s grizzly"?... would they let me in and pay at the end, or if I go at heat 4 could I just pay half price"? anyone think this is a reasonable request? bare in mind speedway "could" win a brand new fan for life here????
  6. if meetings wed/fri and sats, how can they host the world cup? that's thurs for the play off?
  7. with Swindon in doubt and Leicester having the wobbles, the bspa will be interesting!!
  8. I know times aren"t what they were in speedway circles, but surely 2,000 turnout in a play off is not a massive success?
  9. I don't get the sportsmans mentality of doing the chosen sport for money..surely its a inner thing to be world champion of your chosen profession?
  10. Brandon such a wonderful stadium, set up, it surely should remain in elite, with its great history
  11. something bold at bspa need doing, instead of cost cutting/tinkering round the edges....squad system, same night fixtures, rejuvinate the sport!!
  12. plus a pen with plenty of ink for the rider changes!!
  13. 60% of riders in tonights play offs ride in prem league!!! 7 at poole and 9 at Swindon.....sojealous of Sweden/Poland leagues!!
  14. whilst that doesn't sound much, how much would you pay a 3pt rider per point?
  15. for what kk is earning in gp"s and being his last, would he fly half way round the world to score around 3 pointless points??
  16. maybe once the start marshall get them upto the tapes, something can go behind the 4 riders (tape/bar etc), to stop them pulling back to try and get a roller!
  17. absolutely, pathetic reserves that just a waste of time lately
  18. I think you Swindon fans are fortunate in that, both Robert buckland and Justin Tomlinson, both very much appear on board. this is reply from Justin Tomlinson today.. "As it stands Swindon borough council are still waiting on the reserved matters application. This would confirm the exact details of the building drainage and all other associated works. This would also trigger the work commencing. This has now been due some time, hence why there is concern at the delay. Gaming international maintain that the flood alleviation works and the sound attenuation barrier have taken longer than hoped to organise and they will be submitting the reserved application shortly, with build out taking approximately 8 months from there. I have double checked are there rules built into the original application have now been triggered, that no more new development can continue until the stadium works begin.. This was put in place to make sure the stadium would be developed. If they were to walk away at the moment,a significant development area/opportunity would be lost. As an aside, we know gaming international have spent quite a lot of money on the preparation work, which if they were never intending to redeveloping the stadium, they would not of bothered wasting the money. As soon as I hear more I will contact you again"
  19. was just looking back to 1976, was "12" preliminary rounds to the british final..final line up..simmons, wyer, chris Morton, dave Morton, mike lanham, john Louis, peter Collins, john davis, reg Wilson, dave Jessup, jim McMillan, bob kilby, George hunter, chris pusey. ray Wilson, terry betts.....no wonder Brandon was packed, pretty clear the speedway public no when they are short changed!!
  20. It beggars belief, only last week I read zagar comment on rosco......utter p*** take and 2 fingers to british speedway, and people wonder why sport here is in the state its in...if belle vue management had respect for that famous ace on their race jacket, they should make sure zagar never ever wears that again!!....
  21. I thought that, holder shouldn't of been allowed on track in that state
