Berwick's e-newsletter yesterday explained they HAD discussed an ongoing loan deal with Mr Havelock at the AGM, he had agreed it with both Berwick promoters, after which they negotiated their deal with the rider. Only when they later e-mailed confirmation to Redcar did Mr H inform them Redcar had changed their mind, and wouldn't authorise the already-agreed loan arrangement.

It really is about Somerset. Berwick can accomodate Allen on a 5 or a 7 at present, and so indeed could Sheffield (if Sissis doesn't have EU citizenship). Just depends who else they sign up. Somerset are the team who have declared an over-the-limit 1-7, presuming Holder will be a 7.

Redcar have had a transfer request from Aaron Summers, so it is perhaps fair to expect a transfer fee, although the amount they're asking for him has apparently scared even Glasgow off. Now they've refused to continue the loan agreement with Berwick for Matej Kus, and Berwick have published the asking price -- £21,000! So what's the outcome? Two riders who don't want to be there being forced to ride at Redcar or no place -- that'll be productive. If they ask for arbitration on their fees, it'll take a long time to sort out, and clubs like Glasgow and Berwick will have moved on.

The two-year agreement would be with Matej Kus, all parties no doubt presuming the loan deal was a given, as with 95% of all speedway moves. Is Havelock the problem, or is it the Soprano brothers? .
-
But surely the fault was partly with the club, keeping him on board? The owner has admitted that he wasn't even consulted when they released Mark Lemon instead of Wolbert.

No problems hearing things from where we sit when we come to Foxhall.

Your club has confessed to being short of investment, yet people on here are happily talking of signing expensive riders. It is a pity when (not just at Berwick) supporters groups and sponsors seem to think it is more important to shovel money towards riders instead of assisting their favoured club to survive.
-
Just looking at all this from afar, have the "new owners" taken over, and paid Gordon Pairman (and perhaps Alan Biggurt) for their shares in the controlling limited company yet?
-
But not the Sheffield promotion. Josh Bates is their asset, his uncle owns Sheffield and he's wintering in Australia at Sheffield's expense. You can forget him at Foxhall.
-
How about another asset coming back? Facundo Albin, anyone?
-
Did they announce new ownership, too?
-
Amazing money, I have been told.
-
He has, and is Glasgow-bound along with Richard Lawson for very silly money

Isn't is better to stay within a budget and keep a club going than live beyond your means to satisfy the dreams of a few, erm, fannies? If some of the people on here who constantly moan and criticise "their" club actually clubbed together and contributed to an associate sponsorship, that might be a start.

When your team wins the whole league by one point, and you've scored three points, your contribution is as vital as the guys who scored maximums. Well done Derek, you've gone out at the very top!

Speedway Star - Can I Have My Money Back?
smod replied to Rob Lee's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I'm maybe different, but I find the winter editions more interesting. The articles by people steeped in speedway knowledge like John Chaplin and Dick Barrie are fascinating to me and with no live speedway to go to I read the Star in greater depth than summer when I sometimes find I only scan the first few pages and cherry-pick other items because I know all the results. -
Perhaps it was chosen to suit the riders, officials and supporters who find it possible to eat, drink and be merry, fully enjoying such an event without having to drink themselves senseless and unable to function the following day?

Pishy comment that. I think the parallels with ice hockey are valid, and all the holier-than-thou comments on here are somewhat sad. Blood and thunder brings in people to see it happen. Not milk and water.

Panthers Vs Glasgow (9/9/13)
smod replied to LagutaRacingFan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
He recovers for home meetings, but finds his back too sore for away trips. A little ridiculous that Panthers are allowed a facility when he decides not to travel. -
Rye House V Peterborough (premier League) 3rd September

Amazing turnaround going on regarding playoffs. A week ago, Panthers were absolutely certain to be the sixth team, but now......
