  1. can't find the form to hand now but i think your user name is pretty accurate. The form clearly stated that it was just "fun shares" and effectively just a way of raising funds for the club, the "shareholders" were never entitled to any voting rights, details of accounts, to have the shares brought back or dividends paid out. Put simply its a nice way for people to offer a little sponsorship into the club, get their name in the program and receive a certificate for their contribution. On a personal note i think the £100 minimum was a bit steep and stopped any further interest but for several who want to do their bit its a nice enough idea (providing the money gets spent correctly etc). Anyone who thought that for £100 they would be entitled to see full company accounts, have a say on how the club is run and potentially receive dividends should really be supervised when using computers and mobile devices and have the child locks firmly turned on.
  2. Agreed. IOW also have the luxury of an excellent large race track which makes the other disciplines more appealing. The reason IOW have been successful is because they assessed what they have and marketed the product to suit rather than forcing a one sized fits all approach that it causing so many others to suffer.
  3. I suspect for any racing to take place there would need to be an air fence and im guessing the Buxton one is out of date / deteriorated? Throw in some higher insurance premiums etc and the probable need for more extensive track work and you can see why its less appealing. I fully respect why the Moss family have stepped away from it after years of being beaten down and any hope of a return rests solely on a new promotor who is willing to invest heavily for little return.
  4. I think the numbers speak for themselves, looking at NDL competitors last year i would estimate over 50% raced MDL in the past, the rest are made up from MJL or youth rounds with just a couple who i can't recall doing any dev leagues and heading straight into NL (doesn't mean they didn't do it just means i can't recall it). I personally think the leagues are vital for riders of all ages to develop and hone their skill sets and see if they are prepared for the rigours of full league racing, unless it starts to get further backing from the powers that be i fear the sport in general will decline further.
  5. Hugely important. Only got to look at the brits at CL to see that the vast majority came through MDL and NL. Today sought after riders like Hume, Thomas and Mountain served thier time setting up in the rough end of the pits and having countless meetings abandoned because they simply were an inconvenience to some. Todays annoying, turn up just for the laps riders may well be tomorrow's team saviours.
  6. With respect will that even be possible next season? There were 3 teams only this year (thanks to the board) of which Eastbourne aren't competing) so leaves Brum, Wolves (who will also be PJL) and possibly Kent? A sad demise when it featured double figure entries 10 years ago
  7. I know its "silly season" but there is a line.....
  8. So Thompson x 2, Spencer and Simpson. Foord & Perry leave just over 6 so Coles or RTD (probably the latter would be my guess).
  9. The potential at Buxton always was and is there but sadly the place was tired and ultimately the racing surface needed work. Budgets and food intentions kept it going longer than many expected but often a refusal to listen or accept anything was wrong ultimately led to its closure.
  10. Suspension for 30 days and summoned to a scb hearing.....no idea if that has taken place yet?
  11. Don't know if Ace is on 500s yet but could be if he wanted i believe. Also there is a hearing yet to be staged after events that took place at Plymouth.
  12. Sums up Josh and his fortune with injuries really. Used to happen at Rye House a lot, come along, show us what you are all about etc only shame was that the team had been picked months in advance but it certainly boosted the attendances at the practice days.
  13. Equipment sounds like its up to task if its maintained ok but a 6 point average is huge considering Wright returned on a 4.00. If Complin can do what Wright achieved last season i would consider that a mega comeback but maintaining a 6 feels like dreamland.
  14. Powell did all/most of the speedway meetings on the IOW last year and looked mightily impressive however he did represent Oxford and it wouldn't surprise me to see Powell, RTD and Coles all at Oxford this year. Wood gave speedway a good go but sadly never had the funding to make the most of his talents and it started to tell across his commitment levels. Powell adapted better than i thought he might and was probably a victim of averages / a little unlucky not to get a place when he was left out of the Eastbourne side. If Iwade get him on a 5 or even lower average he looks a bargain but i fear he will line up elsewhere this season.
  15. Quite possibly but i still see the comparison closer than to James Wright which the promotion are trying to make. James after all rode competitive grasstrack in the gap years, stayed lean and honest about his aspirations. Id love to see Lee back to what he was capable of in his prime.
  16. Whats he going to ride the track hire bike? I do find it a little disparaging that time after time names crop up that have been retired for a respectable amount of time and for multiple reasons. Its a little disrespectful to all the available riders with kit who are actively looking for team places. (to confirm thats not just at you Jimsboy but the ever growing list of posters living in the past)
  17. I just hope that Complin doesn't have a load of money thrown at him for new kit etc then packs up after a few weeks because the comeback hasn't been as good as in his head when more deserving riders could benefit from that level of sponsorship. Touch of the Bridgers comes to mind but as ever i hope to be proven wrong.
  18. Danno 2nd string or 3rd heatleader? Either way two good signings and two good guys of the sport. Solid and sensible start from the new promotion.
  19. I will be amazed if NDL heatleaders / CL riders are in the PJL. Its going to be a rebadged MDL or lower.
  20. Age is no issue but preperation and attitude is. I don't rate Muff on the grounds that his prep is poor, his skill set is limited and any results are often throttle jockey related. Certainly look poor against Belle Vue. Top 2 are strong, Spooner is a good signing for anyone but 2nds strings are iffy and reserves should be the lowest pairing in the league (but probably wont be)
  21. Definitely has its own micro climate like Buxton. Little bit more squeezed for space around the track but a much better racing surface. Seen plenty of good riders round the place and setting some quick times. The plus side is the training track, 2nd halves etc can all be a breeding ground for future riders with an actual progression route (rather than the BSPL mickey mouse ones)
  22. This post will be referenced time and time again to prove that you are a clueless fool.
  23. I think its a great venue and offered track time to a huge number of riders over the years. Its the type of venue that is more sustainable if the sport has a long term future. However its certainly rough and ready and won't be everyones cup of tea. The other divide will remain between track owners versus promotors as to who provides the investment for any upgrades etc. As stated though, field parking, hired toilets, bars and catering a-la grasstrack and theres absolutely no reason why its not a sustainable venture. Next up is a team that fans can relate to of Kent connected or based riders.
