What Time Does Millenium Gp Finish Please?
OveFundinFan replied to Gresham's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Back on the April 20th - soon after the Warsaw disaster I posted the following (on the Warsaw GP thread) "To those who say they not going to Cardiff because of Saturday (Warsaw GP)..... have no worries, they dare not get Cardiff wrong this year, and if they can get it right at Cardiff then that sets the stage for all other indoor meetings". I still hold to that, I do think this year it will be a very good year, and if it is then thats the standard they got to work to at all other temporary/indoor stadia. -
Yes, looks like Woffy is on top form, but Greg beat him last Sunday in Poland, so too soon to be called a "has been" as some would make out.

The Dilemma Of Greg Hancock
OveFundinFan replied to Grand Central's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Watched the speedway meet from Sweden on Tuesday night, Nicki and Freddie Lindgren had a good dice. Plenty of room left for each other on the straights, and Nicki did a similar pass on Freddie as to what he did on Greg, but plenty of room left. Obviously you dont invite you opponent to pass you, but you got to leave room for racing, yes, block pass but not trapping an opponent between you and a solid fence. Freddie won that encounter, good race. -
Its going to be hot on Saturday, my weather app shows 23 degree (5 degree cooler then Friday). If long queues in that heat, tempers could go haywire, then no food or DRINK (water) to be allowed in the stadium, so the queues for the buffet bars will be long (and they were bad enough last year), the wife has a need to drink little often so we could be in a pickle, If things turn bad this could be the last trip to Cardiff which is a shame cause we like the place.

Oh dear..... only been the last two years and again on Saturday, so I am listening to the comments on here about the 4:00 pm gates open time. Not too comfortable with what you all saying, last two years it was a comfortable experience getting in, looks like this year could well be the opposite. I am also thinking about the bus from the out of city parking ie Cardiff City football ground and others. If everyone aiming to get to the stadium during a smaller time period then that could well be chaos as well. I certainly hope you are all incorrect...... we'll see.

Seen elsewhere Peter Kildemand has concussion. He needs to learn, and learn fast, that you dont win meetings, or get through qualifiers, when you lying on the track. -
Malilla Gp July 25

I dont know the age of Sundstrom, but that selection doesnt hold up to much for Swedens future. No 17 and 18 would be a good chance for younger riders to soak up the atmosphere. -
The Dilemma Of Greg Hancock
OveFundinFan replied to Grand Central's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I certainly not writing Greg off yet, certainly on the judgement of one or two USA team meetings where he hasnt much incentive nor support to go flat out. Apart from that, everyone is entitled to have off meetings, Tai didnt start 2014 off too well, nor finish it well, same with KK this year. -
Swc Final 2015
OveFundinFan replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
As already stated it is on You Tube and without adverts. I was away on holiday when it was live, set Sky box to record it, but the meeting cancelled to the Sunday and I didnt get it recorded. Great meeting. Poland have a good future with such competant youngsters, and more didnt get the chance to ride. -
The Most Secret Speedway Meeting Ever
OveFundinFan replied to Grand Central's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Earlier in this thread Phil Rising listed the riders, not seen the full results. The get together was'nt a meeting as such, it was to test the track, that was the main purpose, get opinions, and they now still have over a week to improve/consolidate the track before Sat 4th July First, for those who have enquired, the line-up: Kyle Howarth, Lewis Blackbird, Stuart Robson, Robert Lambert, Danny King, Charles Wright, Kyle Newman, Ritchie Worrell, Ashley Birks, Richard Lawson, Jason Garrity, Adam Ellis, Lewis Kerr, Josh Bates, Edward Kennett and Adsam Roynon. -
Hope you enjoy it Sue, this is the third year running the wife and I are going after a long time away from speedway. The atmosphere is really good, and sounds like the track may be a lot better this year too.

The Most Secret Speedway Meeting Ever
OveFundinFan replied to Grand Central's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
hopefully this year will be a good racing track all through the meeting, but lets not forget what has been done this year can only be repeated if a) the stadium is available for the extended time needed. the powers that be are prepared to pay for the extended time. -

The Dilemma Of Greg Hancock
OveFundinFan replied to Grand Central's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think it was right to exclude NP for fencing GH. Nicki knew very well greg was there, he had gone under a wide riding Greg. Knowing he was there I feel he is obliged to leave room. I was pleased when the pole, was it Pawlicki snr, was excluded after the race for clashed with the Rusian coming out of the bend too. And I feel Sundstrom should have been excluded for taking the other Russian into the fence which caused Hample to fall and break his leg. I cant remember such deliberate fencing in the 60's and 70's, nothing like now I'm sure. Recall Emils injury that took him out of the 2013 GP season. Think it was Medinski at Torun. He knew Emil was there, took him out of the meeting and season with serious injuries. I know the throttle works both ways and it surely has to be closed if you catching someone and the gap closes when the rider in front doesnt know you coming. I know its a fine line, but with modern technology it doesnt take too long to get different shots of whats happened. -
The Most Secret Speedway Meeting Ever

Why is it we expect to know everything about everything. Access to Cardiff stadium has been made available sooner then ever before (I understand), purpose to lay a track well before any other time, thats what forum members were wanting, and now the organisers say they going to have a test day with riders that wont be competing on July 4th. Fair do's. It might be nice to know who riding and the results of the test day but surely we can't demand information, therefore we should'nt expect it. Only my opinion, no doubt others will have theirs. joe -
It was a good meeting to watch and, as we all know, on a track that can be raced on. As to the quality of the entrants compared to the World GP series, rarely if ever, has the world championship had the top 16 riders in the world in it, and I say that considering the one off world title meetings and the gran prix series. Sure you could take some of those riding in the European championship and they would fit nicely into the gran prix series, but it isnt going to happen, so we get on with what we got. And in my opinion there is probably only one rider, Emil, that is consistent enough to warrant slotting into the gran prix series to replace a rider already in the world series.. From the rest, yes they can race well, very well at times, but are not consistent enough, and I am talking here about the Laguta brothers, Vaculik, and some others. Lets face it, they all have a chance of going through the qualifiers or having a permanent wild card.

The Gerhard engine seems to be trialling well by harris and Lambert over in the uk. Performing well enough to encourage more then a few to purchase when they come on the market, especially if servicing costs are slashed. And whilst not everyone can afford to pay for their GM engines to be highly tuned, its a fact that not every rider will be able to benefit from the tuning - ie not everyone can ride a highly tuned engine to its full potential.
