I suggest you look up the word hypocrite in a dictionary.

And equally nobody knows that he'd not just got back from the pub where he'd had 4 pints with his lunch and was way over the limit. But they're still defending him!

I jumped a red light in March 2010. It went to court in January 2011. 10 whole months, was closer to 11 in fact. All that time with that possible conviction hanging over my head. It's amazing that I didn't top myself with all that pressure. I guess I could have pleaded guilty when I got the letter about 3 weeks after the offence and then waiting a month for a letter telling me of my punishment but I chose to prolong the whole thing. Also, a Mr Darcy Ward was accused of sexual assault on August 17 2011 but didn't go to court until 10 May 2012. That was 9 months! Obviously Darcy is using a different solicitor this time

If You Could Bring Back One Rider...
SCB replied to TonyMac's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think it's being suggested you have missed the fact there was a war and no World Finals. But I read your posts as, "..he would have won a World Title if there was not a war on causing there to be no World Finals". -
When ever I used to go and visit one of my elderly relatives (now sadly passed away) she'd often ask me about the speedway. She ask how "Crumpys son" was doing and without fail would tell me the story of a test match at BV where the Russian gated in heat 1 and beat Ivan, "nobody did that" apparently. They travelled from Newport to Manchester to watch a BV vs Russia meeting because it meat getting to see a load of riders whos name they probably couldn't say for the first and possibly last time back in the days when it wasn't the easy 2.5 hour run there that it is today!

Kenny Carter for me. Whats I've seen in video/youtube the guy was clearly something special and if half the stories are true then he knew how to cause a scene -
Any letter in the start that starts with, "i have been following speedway since..." Or "I have been a fan since 19..." should be ignored.

I don't see how Alex Davies meets the criteria.

The Tasmanian state final was known as being the last resort for riders. It was basically a state final run for the benefit of the 2 or 3 riders who had failed in other state finals.

Greg Hancock How Good.?

He tweeted about 2 weeks ago that the SCB had been on to him as someone had complained to them about his tweets

TBF I said about 3 weeks ago I hope they take the full 45 days as Middlo and his band of merry men and women would provide us with a great deal of comedy. They've not let me down

Obviously discovering all his "names" don't have the same power at FIM level as they do at BSPA level. #SadTimes

So what happens if a Russian, Argentine, Brazilian, Chinese or any other non-EU national rides in an Aussie state final (which they can do) and finishes top 4. They have a work permit. What is their average? It should be simple. Are you foreign? Yes. Have an 8 point average. Are you British and have raced NL? Yes, have a 3 point average.
-
As I just added in my edit - "great mind...."
-
Now this is where, IMO, we fail massively. We should be arranging such meetings. I'm also sure if you invited the Latvians (all 5 or 6 of them LOL) over for a test series that people would go and watch as it would be new, exotic riders. Same with a Russian touring team. People would go to watch new riders, probably not so interested i a GB vs Aus full test match as we see the Aussies every week on Sky, the SWC and the GPs.
-
So, the rules about assessed averages for new riders in the PL... So if you're American or Australian then you have to come in on a 7 now (highlighted in blue) But it's you're Russian, Argentinian, Brazilian, Chinese or basically any other non-EU national then you come in on a 5 (highlighted in red) Piss ups and breweries spring to mind. Surely 18.6.1 should say, "Cat 3a: EU Riders not riding in a Professional Speedway League Cat 3b: Non-EU (to a maximum of 4 each season) Riders new to British Speedway"
-
All joking aside, what is staggering is the number of likes/dislikes the posts are getting. Clearly the feeling amongst the public is not as positive as Darcy, Middlo and the Echo would have you believe it to be! edit > great minds eh BWitcher?

My point, which reading back I expressed badly, was that Woods could do anything at all. He could get 2 or 3 and not cope with the change from grass to shale, he could be a Tom Perry and get 6-7 or he could even do an Adam Ellis and take to it like a duck to water and get 9. I hope he gets the 9, we need as many young lads as possible making it. But right now, anyone who predicts an average for him would, IMO, just be really lucky if they were right come October!
-
Probably a good job MPT quit as the rule that allowed him to drop back down on an old average no longer exists.
-
It won't. All that'll happens is what happened at the Exeter Farewell and the "Richest minute of speedway" at Poole - all the riders will agree to share the money, making it a damn squib
-
Proctor should be OK as he averaged 4+ in the EL last season and one of the criteria is to average 4 in the EL. As for you argument for him getting a work permit, the counter argument would be that while Taylor is here doing a job Andre Compton or some other Brit could do he is putting them in the dole queue. He's not really adding anything to British Speedway. Would you be happy if they let him in to work in McDonalds or stack shelves for Tesco when there are 1000's of Brits out of work?
-
Anyone who can accurately predict what a rider will average this season, let alone next season or the season after after one session on a speedway bike should be sat in the bookies and a millionaire by now! I remember seeing Tom Perrys first speedway meeting, we were told at that time he'd only had one practice session and a P&P day. He scored about 6 but he looked good. He averaged 6 that season from memory. 3 season later he was a 10 point man. He's never really converted that into PL form though.
-
So how should he be judged then? "nice guy"? "loveliest eyes in speedway"? Or maybe failed to get a 7 point PL average as the criteria suggests?
-
When you look at the level of some of the rider who have raced in the SWC it should not no difference at all. for a start it would mean that every year the Aussies or Americans could just put a youngster or two in their team to get them a work permit regardless of how good they are.
