  1. Ive got a full copy of it, bought it about 10 years ago. Tidy little game with a pretty cool idea but where would be the fun for me just copying someone else concept? Falls and EF's pretty much have to be done that way. My thinking is the rate every rider for gating, passing, team riding, small track confidence, big track confidence, consistency, form, moral, white line ability, outside ability etc etc. It means when you sign a rider you have to look at these things to suit your home track and get some idea how a rider will perform away. It's time consuming giving each rider that rating though Incidentally, the speedway challenge card game is a great way to kill a bit of time. I actually programmed that a few years ago, the only issue is you play against the computer and the computers a bit thick.
  2. They're not liked and are apparently arrogant. But they don't break rules left right and centre. And there promoter has been BSPA chairman the last 5 years and has failed badly. in the future I'm sure we'll look back on the last few years as some of the weakest managed and most corrupt in a long time.
  3. Afraid I'm still yet to be WOW'd by Craig Cook. Don't get all the guff form Sky about right result. Edinburgh worked hard to get back into that meeting - hardly their fault Wethers piled into there resereve in a desperate move (best wishes to both Matty and Aaron BTW). If anything it was a hollow victory as Berwick spent all night doctoring the gates and when an Edinburgh possibly, maybe marginally moved in heat 9 on his TR it was called back, in heat 10 the Berwick riders moved even more and it was let go.
  4. Eastbourne/Bob Dugard would be proud of that gate doctoring before heat 9
  5. Obviously doesn't pay enough TBF i don't blame him, he's not going to win it these days - proved everything he needs to for the last 20 years.
  6. The people arguing he should have got a ride are the first to come out and scream at people when they say the NL is a training league with wobblers. Seems they're now advocating this. I'm with you, the league is meant to be a semi-pro league now - so we're told. So it should be treated as such. Saying that, look at the EL and FTD reserves - riders in there to learn, not because they're good enough.
  7. So tonight, there will be a clash between the live Swedish EL on Eurosport and the British PL on Sky. Which will you watch live? Will you record the other to watch later? I'm just curios to see if people would prefer to watch lower league they feel some association with or watch higher level racing with teams that means nothing/little to them. I'll probably watch the Swedish league stuff and switch over to the PL at 7.30
  8. It probably make a tiny difference. But not enough to justify any huge wages. 99% of the public don't know Woffy and Hancock from Ryan Terry Daley and Arron Mogridge.
  9. Harris was given a wildcard. That is a fact. Everyone saw him there. http://speedwaygp.com/news/article/2440/bombers-comeback-in-cardiff - So why does the GP site say Harris was given the wildcard? http://speedwaygp.com/results/56 - So who finished 10th according to the speedway GP site?
  10. Im guessing the top guys issues are not the many race nights but the fact they could be at Wolves on Monday, Sweden Tuesday, Poole Wed, Lynn Thurs, Cov Friday..... Spread the fixture out properly so NO team rides more than 1 away meeting a week. Riders then would get no more than 2 meetings a week. Would suit lesser riders and clubs too as it would aid cash flow too. Cant be good for a reserve to go 6 weeks and ride 2 meetings if they have family to feed. While it can help a promoter to have 10 away meeting in a month with 4 home meetings. The league table will be more accurate then too!
  11. I hate random though. Whats the point then? There has to be some skill in picking the team. Riders have to be given ratings for passing, gating, team riding etc etc or you may as well signed 7 random riders (as Im sure some promoters are happy to do!) and they have to be used. In the past Ive used random numbers for testing purposes but it's a bit too weak for an actual game and where, IMO, "Speedway Promoter" falls down - far too easy to win on it.
  12. Franks was 18 months for pleading guilty and Roger was 24 months. The stupid thing was Franks ban ended mid-September while Rogers run until March - in effect both were banned for 2 years as by the time Franks ban was over there was only 6 weeks of the season left in 2001 - he did get a few bookings in challenge and individual meetings though. And they were taking recreational drugs - if it makes any difference.
  13. I guess technically 4.59 is "near" 6 in the scheme of things. But when you consider he'd average 4.00 just by beating the draft riders, 4.59 is nothing to get too excited about. It suggests thats he rarely beat the second strings in the oppositions teams and then riders are the heatleaders in the PL. So as pointed out, he'll do well to get 6. Lets not forget Proctor only got slightly more than 6 and he's been averaging slightly more in the EL - and that included a spell as a heatleader.
  14. More and more lately people are getting touchy on here and facebook about people having opposing views. Very sad. Just trying to work out the standing now after 3 meetings and the SEC website is crap. It has one set of standing on the front page but if you add up the scores on the results page (which are themselves hidden away!) the totals don't add up to the totals on the front for all riders. You don't get this crap on the SGP website!
  15. Most of the places I have worked have had a drink and drugs policy. Every one of them said if you went to work under the influence it was instant dismissal. We joked in my last place of work that when our boss to us to the bus one lunch time it was so he could sack us that afternoon. Where as a previous job the management knew we went to the pub 90% of lunch times.
  16. I doubt Len Silver remembers what eh said days ago, so no chance months ago! Eastbourne vs Lynn in 2000 was a 75-0 after Kings Lynn walked out because they had booked Danny Bird as a guest but had included the 2.5% GB reduction in his average - the reduction didnt count for guests so he wasn't allowed to ride. The referee told them no so they walked out and Eastbourne had to ride around on there own for a 75-0.
  17. Im guessing we've seen the last of Proctor now. injured? Where did he get injured exactly? Agree with RocketBen about Covatti - 6 pointer IMO. Bloody exciting though and will probably score FX,3,1,2 beating the opposition number 1 and losing to their reserve!
  18. Most people have enough respect not to mention it. Ive seen a few people comment on facebook that they're watching it but none of us have mentioned specifics. Winds me up when people watch Americans shows "live" online so those people who watch is a few days later have to avoid facebook because some people have to be jerks and tell everyone what has happened - I hope nobody does that this afternoon.
  19. Is that a "Bernie Ecclestone"? No punishment if you're rich enough to pay a "bribe"?
  20. No. They're polar opposites. I'd put Puk and Matej in the style category while Greg is in the dull, clinical, efficient mode.
  21. Neil Middleditch said: “It is what most young people do these days isn't it? He wasn't racing or putting anyone else's life at risk on the track."
  22. Puk's always been great to watch, from his early days at Newport he has had an effortless style. I could watch him ride around on his own.
  23. Isn't it if enough riders say a rider is on drugs they eventually test them? Who was the last rider to be caught? Danny Bird in 2007 - and I'm told the authorities were not after him but an Australian rider who on seeing the drug inspector people were there fell over before the meeting and had to be taken to hospital with a bad back!! James Horton in 2003 and Frank Smart & Roger Lobb in 2000. Have I missed anyone else from the last 15 years?
  24. Gollob at his best was wonderful. He amazed you or annoyed you every GP. Rckardsson at times was clinically and boring but other times he was a master, he did things that made you go, "really" (yet everyone bangs on about his flukey "wall of death" at Cardiff - he did many better things that that). While Hancock is boring and I just don't see myself missing him when he's not there.
