  1. There used to be a rule that you could not be an EL promoter unless you had promoted at PL level or had an experienced promoter working with you. The rule was dropped when Nigel Wagstaff (and Brian something?!) took over at Lynn, we saw what happened to Waggy!!
  2. TBF if you're basing good commentators on how they do or don't say riders names, Nige and Kelvin are poor but they tend to Anglicise the name and say them as we do. Also, as his name is a translation from Russian, the spelling doesnt mean a huge amount
  3. Since when? No such rule and AFAIK never has been a rule. Certainly not in my 10 years of taking an interest in the rules anyway.
  4. Ive often wondered about something like this. It's about finding the right amount/number of people. Too high and you'll not get the required number.
  5. "they" are whoever they want them to be!! Its a response to Oscars claim that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, it may be but it is also the most intelligent.
  6. I went to Wembley in 2012 for the FA Trophy. 20,000 people there and it was a bit flat. Bets bit was the coach journey up there. We had a 15 minute walk to find a pub and somewhere to eat. It just wasnt that great. Now compare that to Cardiff, from Friday lunch time the city is filling up with excitable speedway fans, the bars, pubs and clubs are slowly taken over by the speedway fans. I probably would go to Wembley but lets not lose Cardiff, it works so well - its the one speedway meeting every year I would not miss for anything and not because of the speedway!
  7. They say sarcasm is the most intelligent form of wit. I guess its wasted on here
  8. TBF, the OP does raise a fair and valid point. Kings Lynn has gone crap this season. Probably 6 or 7 meetings I've seen from there now on Sky or Bet365 and they've all been rubbish.
  9. Hmmmm. Maybe Rosco has called this one correctly. Always said Rosco was the man for the job as he;'d make the right decisions Still not convinced though.
  10. Any season ticket holder gets into Coventry and Peterborough for £10 I believe. It would be nice if all clubs could agree to do something similar though. That said, I think it excludes seasons tickets for the club who are the away team that night - so only any good if you're a neutral.
  11. Stead wasn't that far off the pace in heat 1 tonight. #OhDear
  12. No Lindgren for Sweden. No Pedersen and Iversen for Denmark. The Poles threatening to play silly buggers. Is this Team GBs years?!
  13. One thing I really didn't get with the intro was we have a British World Champion, a rider who was in a good position to be Champion again this year but they announced Greg last. Why? They also messed up Jason Garritys into too.Its not the first time they have messed up the intro for British riders.
  14. I thought the into was a bit of a let down after the build up on here. Without the build up it would have probably been ok. Should know by now to take anything Phil Rising bigs up with a pinch of salt though.
  15. If Wright is refreshed and back on it this is an immense signing. Does seem odd to drop Adam one meeting after a comeback!
  16. Rye House, BV, Eastbourne and Leicester. All FIM tracks in recent years. Oh the shame. But so have Sheffield, Peterborough, Poole, Coventry, Lynn, Swindon and Berwick been FIM tracks. It means jack, it's nothing to do with being a good track or not.
  17. Oh dear. Oh dear. We're going to finish 2nd. Frankly we could have limited ourselves to FTR riders and beat Italy (Kerr, Blackbird, Garrity and Newman). As for America they have Hancock who will beat anyone we send (Woffy apart but he was always going!), Wells who frankly we should be looking to beat whoever we send then Manzares (who again should be being beat by FTD riders) and erm, well, Bobby Schwartz?! So in that respect Stead will beat all the Italians and all but Hancock while finishing behind all the Aussies. Robert Lambert, Craig Cook and Richie Worrall could all do that but are younger! Stead, really? He failed in the SWC as a youngster, he failed when at his peak so why the hell is he being given another chance? It's not as if he's riding well this season. He's averaging less as a second string than a poorly performing Cook is as a heatleader. Robert Lambert is averaging more this season from the same position for FFS!! Kind of understand King. He's an odd one for me, still cant make him out but Id give him a chance.
  18. If you're talking less than £100 difference stay in Cardiff IMO. The fact you can wake up and be sat in a pub in minutes, or wandering around the shops and can pop back to the hotel after the meeting before going out later just makes it that much better. But otherwise Newport isn't a bad shout as its 15 minutes on the train cost about £5 return - but Id try and stay as close to the centre or you're messing about with buses and taxis. If it was me I'd want to roll up to Cardiff Friday afternoon and stay there until Sunday and not have to worry about travelling. The GP itself is always 10 times better in the flesh than on the tele -you'll love it. I dont know anyone whos ever been and not actually enjoyed it.
  19. Denmark gets two GPs. There league crowds are tiny to the point of irrelevant and their main GP does not get a crowd the size of the Millennium Stadium does. So why can't we have a second GP? Why isn't the Olympic Stadium, Wembley or even the pretty much empty Ricoh in Coventry if you want to go to a speedway city used? The argument given for us not having two GPs is pathetic. Cardiff is a huge success, now try London, aswell!
  20. Looking on the bright side, you were saved form spending the best part of a fiver on a pint! Sadly I was too drunk to realise it was a bad idea
  21. How odd. Greg Laguta withfraws from the competition then Artem doesnt get a wildcard. Have the Lagutas upset someone?
  22. As in perfecting timing before they have a GP in the USA?
  23. Great meeting, not a bad result (Tai top scored) the while thing just gets it right. I've been to every Cardiff GP and I still wake up excited, in buzzing on the train down and then stepping into the stadium is WOW!! Just a shame about the idiots we had sat behind us who kicked off because me and my 5 year old niece were supporting Tai and not Greg - in the British GP and because we were blowing a horn FFS!!! Most importantly, Dietbowers got his sausageroll!!
