  1. It's all part of the master plan! Sending Middlo to work with the Danes next year and Havvy with the Poles. Team GB (also agree, why not just Great Britain - technically they're UK too as anyone from NI could ride for them) cant fail to win then!
  2. BINGO! If 1% of rider who buy a bike making it to the GPs one day and you have 100 kids, 1 of them will be a GP rider. If you have 1000 then 10 of them will be. There could be 20 potential World Champions out there on the shore of the UK but they'll never sit on a bike in their lives. We need to get more people trying speedway to find the decent riders.
  3. Interesting to read that you think a rider needs a few seasons in the EL. I didnt realise it was being lazy, just more than they didn't need it. TBH, Poland don't have too much to worry about with their juniors, look at what Sweden and GB have right now, not a lot in the 18-21 bracket.
  4. He could get his facts right. Barker DIDN'T fail. Bridger did and was replaced - like Cook now. Part of me thinks, "silly boy" but actually, I'd prefer him to be upset and annoyed than just go, "ah well", shows he actually cares.
  5. But why do they have crowds of 22,000? Probably because they dont try and take £2 of fans for a programme and ekk another few ££ for the car park when no alternative is available and generally try and squeeze every last penny out of the fans/customers. It's all the little things that add up to having a good experience and British Speedway seems intent on relying on the "oh, but they need our money so don't complain or there will be no speedway" approach. No other business works like this - well, no successful business!
  6. So Middlo couldn't even be arsed to get the proper paperwork to be manager? How does he still have the job starman?
  7. Phil Morris. Took over at Brum and dragged them from bottom of the league to play offs. This season has taken unfancied Birmingham to 2nd in the league and based on points per meeting would be top if the league. Middlo has taken bookies and speedwsy star favourites to 5th and has twice bottled the play offs and could do nothing in 2009. He has cost Poole loads despite Matt giving him good teams yet he's allowed to run the GB team. He's also allowed to pick the GB team despite admitting on twitter this week he had no say in who rides for Poole. He has constantly messed up tactics for Poole and GB. Picked riders badly and generally been a disaster for GB. How is it that Cook and Kennett mess up once do get sacked but Middlo has had how many chances now? For once I think he might have got the team right for the race off.
  8. LOL. Shadders like a bit of a moan but he justifies his comments. He's not a, "well its rubbish. The end" but fairly constructive. The guy also puts god knows how much time and money into attending speedways all over the UK each season. Your comment is totally unfair.
  9. King and Cook. Stupidly slick gaters paradise, will suit Cook more than tonight. That said, he's not been gating that well tonight. Most importantly, Middlo to quit now. All the idiots on the Internet were right about Kennett, he was wrong.
  10. Kennett has been pathetic, Harris is fast. A Harris, Harris,Woffy win in ten last 3 heats would have totally changed things. Ok hindsight says Harris and Woffy didn't win them but there was nothing at all to worry about. Pointless waiting for Kennetts next tide as we're now out of it. Hancock will be in Kennetts next ride too.
  11. Middlo has give up then? I guess he had to go with Kennett as a way to stick his fingers up at the "arm chair critics".
  12. You might make a few £££ tonight then!
  13. Need Bjerre to take the mother of all shoves on the first bend. Mess with his head. Shame his first ride is against Kennett :s
  14. How many pages in a programme? What % are adverts? You're basically paying to be advertised to. Bus as I've said before (and Parsloes won't accept it) but I can remember the result of 15 heats for a few hours, it's not hard. You know which riders are in each heat anyway so you just remember the order. Well you know the riders in a heat if you know the race format anyway. All this, "the promoters need your money". Boo Hoo! Provide a decent, VFM produce and I'm willing to pay good money for anything - Im not one of these, "cheapest is best" people but speedway programmes are a rip off generally.
  15. While all correct, you would have to imagine if a rider is being licensed by another country there has probably been a falling out. So while technically possible it's in reality, unlikely.
  16. Bigger joke is the final is on the joke of a track that is the Marketta Stadium rather than the Czechs are in the final! As post a while back, it's going to make the race-off one hell of a meeting though.
  17. The ones that pee me off are the ones who support the team likely to win. Poles one season, Danes the next. OK if you have some afinity to the rider you'll suport them/hir country, I get that - it's not for me, I'll support the Brits - but to change what counry you're going to support, utter madness.
  18. So as said, Woodward or North then? Or is Lemo going to ride himself
  19. Isnt' Wells a bit Rubbish at Lynn though? hopefully it'll be close anyway, to add some interest. Same with the "battle" for first, head says the Danes will walk it, heart wants to Brits to as a minimum give them a scare.
  20. http://speedway-stats.co.uk/Track/6 So the answer would be King, Worrall, Kennett, Barker, Bridger, Cook.
  21. So it's acceptable because everyone does it? Really? It's also poor business, you scam people, out of £3 today but next year only 90% of those buying a programme last week buy one, it only takes 11 weeks for you to be at a loss.
  22. Check out the papers rom July 1st/2nd 2007. Chris Harris got a LOT of coverage. Im not sure he made any back pages but I bought all the papers that day (possibly the only day I have ever bought a newspaper in fact) to see what was said after strolling into the bookies to pick up my winnings. I had a breif flick through after Tais win last month and guess what? Bugger all. So even in 6 years we've gone from half a page in most papers to a paragraph in a few of them. Maybe it being the British GP for Bomber adds some bias?
  23. And there you have hit a snag. Riders want safer but also want faster/quicker/easier to win on. The reality is, as with everything in life, is striking a balance.
  24. TBH, if my nan made the gate at Prague I'd back her to beat anyone over 4 laps. Cook can gate so should be ok.
