Ipswich V Edinburgh 25/7/13
SCB replied to Ipswich Jules's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Spin this properly and it's a great story. The sport can't buy this kind of publicity. It's not like anyones been harmed (other than Barker getting a whack to the head but he crashes into fence for a living) -
It's funny, they're characters here yet look at the Ips/Edi thread and they're terrible thugs who are dragging the sport down.

Don't you find it at least a tiny bit of a co-incidence that when ever people have a moan/ask questions on here about the stadium the club give us an update though? It does to their credit mean they're listening to the fans though, fair play. -

So alcohol is ok then? What about people who over do that? If weed is bad because people can over do it, so is alcohol and smoking. -

As are 16 year olds sleeping with 15 year olds a few days younger than then. Doesn't make them Jimmy Saville or Stuart Hall though does it? -

Riders EL average multiplied by 0.6 gives his PL average. -

Sad? It's brilliant! Everyone loves a bit of agro. I bet you're one of the people who bemoans the lack of characters left in the sport. The sport should be using this to sell itself not the usual sweep it under the carpet and a few people on the internet get all high and mighty about it! -

Grey area. Probably not as it could potentially lead to the bike being unsafe I guess. But then how is it any different to some amateur having a go? Or someone playing about with something they're not comfortable with? Or a rider being rushed in the pits by the 2 minutes to get his bike back together and forgetting to do something important (tighten some but/bolt to stop something falling apart) Drinking is legal and it would be wrong for a rider to have a few pints and do the same. I just don't see how a bag of weed = someones life falling apart. -

It's pretty simple. A guy is at home on a Friday evening after a hard week at work, he smokes some weed. How is that wrong? And "Because it's the law" is not a valid answer as the discussion now is, "is the law wrong". If they bring in a law that says, "TheReturn has to give everything he owns to SCB" is it right? While the law is in the majority of cases a very good guide, it's not perfect. What about the 15 years and 364 day old girl having sex with the 16 year and 1 day old boy? They've just broken the law, is it wrong? What about the laws that were broken in the past but the law has subsequently been changed/removed and that person is subsequnetly given a pardon? Was it right then? Or wrong now? Or did it change from being right to wrong just because some arbiatary people changed the law? -

The bit about not being like it and he's sorry. He told Barker on twitter that nobody liked him and was provicing him in the last 2 weeks. Should have said sorry to the fans and the club for costing them a chance in the cup and left it at that. TBF, if he thinks Barker deserved it then he shouldn't apologise to him. -

What a load of rubbish. Would have had more respect if he'd said, "He's a little rubbish who has been looking for a slap for a long time". That statement is just not true. -

Starting to make Middlos decision look right now. He dropped Kennett and brought in Barker. Knocking he could not have Barker and Cook in the team together Cook had to go too. -
Do you mean the disc at the bottom? If so, they dont actually mean anything, you can put whatever colour you like in them. I guess some riders may colour code them themselves but that same colour would mean nothing to anyone else.

As long as the work he was of a good quality then no, it didn't impact others. If it was impacting others then yes, it's bad but if it was that bad he'd lose cust wouldnt he? I still don't agree. We've had numerous law removed, changed and created. Are you saying that while the law was around it was ok but when it was removed it was bad? It's not that black and white. Yes he HAS to be punished, he has broken the law but certainly regarding the weed, it's a pretty silly law IMO. -

Being illegal doesn't make it wrong just as being legal doesn't make it right. What someone wants to get up to in their own time when it doesn't impact others is the business of nobody else. -

Heaven forbid he actually did something bad. I've never taken drugs in my life but of people want to smoke a bit of weed then let them FFS. -

So what exactly is the issue between the two then? -
Not sure thats true. I'm doing just fine thought it all. But then I've worked hard to make sure thats the case (he says posting on the BSF while at work ) rather than just sit back and moan about it, ironically!

Possibly, possibly not. But the easiest way to stop it is to give the real information. People will always fill gaps when they're not given information. -

This is just typical of speedway. No news is the fans fault. Well maybe if the club/managment actually updated us it would not be an issue and nobody would speculate. But no, we can't possibly let the fans know whats going on! -
Actually I do think a lot of speedway problems are down to marketing and branding. These things are important, they're multi-billion £/$ industries. Pschology plays a big part in how you perceive things. OK Gollob stopped a few Poles going (have the Poles watched much of Gollob at the Marketta?) but I doubt the average man on the Prague streets knows who the hell Sayfutdinov and the Lagutas are!

TBF, if the PL and EL limit are dropped, Ricky could be a decent enough EL signing.

Yet weirdly, someone of the most expensive houses in Coventry are on the road the stadium is on. As for the people moaing, I bet they also moan, "there is nothing to do around here" too.

I bet Hougaard would be great to watch at Somerset, he has a brilliant style anywhere but the OTA will make it look even better. Now Im working in Bristol I'm half tempted to make the trip down the M5 a couple of junctions for this one. -

So why were we promised a SWC in 2012? This is why we're all so cynical. Promised something, never got it and just about nothing has been said since other than the council had signed it off a few months back. Only to find out, well actually, they hadn't had they? One department had but we're still waiting for planning permission. Well I paid council tax in Coventry for 5 years so I think I have a share in the Rigoh Arena, what a great white elephant that is set to become!
