  1. Surely if Pl is holding it's won with the EL on Sky then the format next season is moot. The people just want speedway. I doubt if many people watcuing care where the teams are int he league, who they are, what riders it is as long as they see a good race. Most of the people wathcing Tuesday had probably not heard of Fricke, Neilsen and Tabaka but I bet they enjoyed the races they were in. It shouldn't be hard to work something out. Tais wnats to ride British League but he's too good, so give him the challenge of starting form 15 metres. The same could be done for any other EL rider with an average over 7.2. That way rider either ride on their PL average or they can ride on their EL average from 15 metres. So you could have Kennett on 10.5 from the tapes or 6.5 from 15 metres. Any rider with a fro the gate average of over 8 could be give the choice of starting 15 metres back on a reduced average. It also means that when Craig Cook is an 11 point man, rather than Edinburgh having to send him off to the EL, he can just ride for 15 metres for them on a 7 point average. Surely the biggest issue is Eastbourne and Lynn only wanting about 14 meetings a season while Sheffield want 20+ Then saying that, it may work out better as Coventry, Swindon and Wolves (any EL club actually) can take part in the Premier Trophy which rather than being a pre-season thing could run throughout the season (up to the mid of July, with semis by mid August and final by the end of September). The other issue is that riders could not double up and lower order riders are going to want to ride for the teams riding in the league and trophy and not just the league teams but I guess thats the incentive to ride both. The issues can be over come and some sort of merging would, should and would have to work for both of the leagues.
  2. It;'s not moaning. It's just pointing out some dont know their arse from their elbow. It was slick. It certainly wasn't grippy and didn't have laods of dirt. But it was still a good meeting, proving that people dont have a clue when they say you need grip and dirt for a good meeting. You need a decent, smooth and consistent track with various lines. It's some sort of myth you need grip for good racing, invariably grip = rubbish racing as the riders dont have the confidence due to not know what they or the other riders are going to be doing in two second time as the grip throws them around.
  3. Wouldn't argue with that. Showing Scunthorpe and Somerset all the time is akin to gping to Lynn every week. Why not show Ipswich, Glasgow and Rye House? 3 tracks that get a slating
  4. So Louis, Doyle and Davies says it slick. Starman says there was plenty of dirt. I'll let people decide who they wish to believe.
  5. Backed Edinburgh to win by between 1 and 4, so was happy with that one. Also had Fricke to win heat 2, Davies to win heat 9 and Fricke in heat 14. Sadly also had Cook to win 1 and Vissing to win heat 4. So a good night. Made up for Fridays disaster.
  6. Whst dirt? There isn't any! Everyone has described it as slick. Somerset is good because it has long sweeping bends and the straights are so far apart.
  7. TBF, the camers were there, so why not just show the first 4 heats and let the rest of Europe link in when the tennis was done? there no logical reason they couldn't have show us the 4 heats.
  8. TBF, they're not doing it in the PL for EL clubs to sign them. In Poland and Denmark riders can ride 100s of laps a week, in the UK they can ride 20-40 a week if they're lucky.
  9. Regarding commentators, I dont mind Kelv and Nige. They're not great but they're bearable but I preferred Scott and the other dude, they were there to give info if you wanted but quiet enough you could easily ignore them. I was impressed that Scott always seem to be quick to pick up on reserve changes and gate changes so clearly was able to recognise riders and thats the most important thing for a commentators, get the facts right and the people at home can form their own opinions on great racing and referees calls (of which there were none). I like Scott on tele, he comes across well.
  10. Do we really have anyone in waiting? Look at the U21 SWC meeting that GB were in. We had 3 or 4 NL riders and the Poles had 3 rider who have riding in a GP or at least been a reserve, plus Piotr Pawlicki! Our "good youngsters" are on another plane to those in Poland for a start. Lambert and Ellis seem to be our greatest hopes at present but they're still a few years off being anywhere like ready for the GPs I've defended him many times, even I can't do it any more. The guy had the right people around him in 2007, he then made changes to get better and got worse, since then he has continued to make more changes to his team and each time go backwards. FFS Bomber, just go back to those you had working with you in 2007 and ask them to come back.
  11. I dont know when albin and Koppe are getting new averages but they're going to drop from 5 each to 3 each very soon, thats 4 points. Added to Knights 3 then thats 7. Adam is a fraction over 7 so it will fit, just a matter of when.
  12. I think people forget this. Us fans will watch anywhere as long as the tracks good but most people it's about a night out, it's the whole package. Racing, presentation, the car park, the toilets etc. The human mind is a weird thing, if you turn up to a field and are charged £1 to park in it and then have to avoid sheep rubbish and puddles already you're hating the experience and it's going to take something very good to make you change your mind, first impressions and all that. Ask my sister why she doesn't go to speedway and she'll tell you it's the toilets and I dont know what the ladies are like at most tracks but the gents are rarely anything near clean but as I bloke I'm not that bothered but I think women do care a bit more. It's all about first impressions, again. So you get there, park in a field full of rubbish, you've riped the exhaust off your car, you go for a piss in a toilet block that has a puddle of piss all over the floor and then get charged £5 for luke warm tea and a piece of polystyrene in a bun and you're already longing to go home. Then the cheesy announcer start talking crap in between the promoters latest purchase, "hits of the 70s". I really don't think the 15 heats of 4 riders doing 4 laps is the issue. I don't think rules make a blind bit of different to the floating supporter or the first timer, the Tr is not a joke, guests are not a farce and people don't know that the guy at number 1 was there last week riding for someone else, in fact they don't have a bloody clue who is at number 1 just that he's very good and winning his races and passing lots of people, "he's very good you know". Go for a meal in a restaurant, the food can be great but if the music in the background is grunge at a high volume and the waiter asks you, "what the f*&* you having today?" and then it takes an hour to bring out the starter are you going back? Ultimately you have gone out for a meal, the food was good but you're not going to go back are you?
  13. Are people seriously suggesting that grading in a different direction makes any difference? surely the whole will just be the other way in stead LOL This is as good as the time someone suggested the magic wheels sprays the dirt to the outside of the track so the tractor should go the other way, seemingly oblivious to the concept of wheels and how they work.
  14. On the stocks points. a couple of years ago after the Gears and Tears Tv show on the BBC when my parents were visiting me in the midlands we decided to go to Birmingham Wheels to watch some stock cars one night. The first thing we found was getting info online was akin to to stealing the crown jewels. But when we got there, we enjoyed what we saw and my mum didn't have a bad night out either but thanks to the Gears and Tears TV programme we had some affinity to some of the competitors. We went home and had a look on a few stock car forums and couldn't believe the moans, we'd had a good night out at a reasonable price. But weirdly, we've never been back! Yet these people moaning on the internet go every day/week/month (delete as applicable). I'm not sure what this proves other than people like to moan. Over the years I've managed to convince a few people I work with to watch speedway on the tele, and for all my moaning on here I'll always bang on about how great the sport is to non-fans (because for all my moaning the basics of the sport are brilliant) but I have never manged to convince anyone to attend a speedway meeting. They're just not interested, even if a few of them two take a passing interest on the speedway on the tele. In fact one friend was quite concerned there were no GPs on Sky this year and was quite pleased when I told him they were on Eurosport - no interest at all in attending though.
  15. Woffy will get a wildcard anyway but tbh, no Brit deserves it. Maybe Kennett I guess, he's still in it. If he fails give Cook a go at Poole.
  16. People still hoping that Eurosport broadcast EL speedway next year?
  17. I've just cancelled my order of the latest Ferrari. I'm just going to steal the one some other silly bugger has paid for. Who's joining me?
  18. I said in March that Somerset, Edinburgh and Redcar were the 3 favourites. Newcastle pulled Lewis Kerr out of the bang to put themselves i the frame too but IMO, its 1 of that 4. All have a weakness somewhere. Probably the closest title race for a long time, the same in the EL. We're into June and I'm still no more sure than I was in March.
  19. I didnt think Robert Lambert was in Kings Lynns team and just helping out. So cold he not just hep out Kent? Maybe thats why he's not signed for a team, this way he can help out any team he like as and when he wants without any commitment.
  20. Surely as long as the fence behind it stays the same every week and that is of a good enough standard the H&S people wont care that a few bags of air are stuck in front of it? i could understand if we were talking putting up and taking down and whole new fence but we're not.
  21. Tonight is when mickthemuppet could justifiably laugh and say "told you so"
  22. It's only 24 hours for speedway. For long track it's only the day of the meeting.
