  1. So he wins it by loads and the fields weak, he wins it by a tiny margin and he's not that much better and not one of the greats. He cannot win can he. How about he has won it by so much and made the others look so bad he must be great? Well Done Jason, it was brilliant to be there and see you achieve that much deserved second (of many!!) title. If only more had the will to win, that drive to succeed and hated to lose so badly, if oly other were as committed as Crumpy, the sport would be massive. Also, Well Done to Greg on being so sporting ALL season, I'll be cheering you onto second place!
  2. Can we start a "Prague 2007 - Who's going" thread please? Put my name down first! Praha nemluvne!!!
  3. Maybe Hans will do a Loram? Do well as a Wildcard one year, win the title the next?! I'd say it's certainly not impossible, tho the Crumpy fan in me hopes not BTW, someone has said if Hans finishes in the top 3, BSI have said they will give him a medal and as he has already qualified for the GP's anyway, I can't see whats so "Mickey Mouse".
  4. Brent Werner Shawn McConnell Eric Carrillo Buck Blair (CL only) Brad Oxley (?)
  5. Now I'd prefer a meeting along the lines of.... Winners of Team GB vs Sweden Vs the winners of Australia vs Denmark (1 vs 4 in the World and 2 vs 3) So you have say 10 heats of GB vs Sweden, 10 heats of Australia vs Denmark and then the last 10 heats are the two winning teams. Th first two meeting could be a heat of one and then the other. I just don't like the idea that in heat 24, "Jonsson / Lindback V Gollob / Protasiewicz", the Poles are now out of it, Pepe and Gollobs heads drop and they give up, where as Sweden need the 5-1 to overhaul one of the teams not in this heat. Exclty liek the last heat of the 2000 (or was it 1999?) WTC, Aus vs Sweden, Crump and Adams who had bene flying just gave up as they could not win it and the Swedes provided the shock of the tournament to get a 5-1 and force a run off with Team GB.
  6. But then you're the person who asked "Are there any other sports that nominate its world finalists?" and when proved wrong still continued to argue. Can you really not see that F1 drivers are nominated by the team mangers? Plus the teams you mentioned having two drivers from the same Nations were from year when I was 7, 9 and 11, not exactly a time I was too bother about who drive for which F1 team, tho I do conceed I was wrong with my semantics. It's certianly true these days however that teams avoiding signing two drivers form the same Nation on commercial grounds.
  7. Loram said, even if he had not forgot the minor techicality of signing his contract, he still may not have rode in the GP rounds!!! Lorams screwed things up for himself IMO.
  8. So whos better then? Surely has to be a current GP rider or someone who finished ahead of him in this meeting? So we have GP riders..... Hampel Zagar Lindback Iversen Richardson Protasaweicz Rider to fiish ahead of him tonight Karlsson So we have 7 rider+ Harris = 8 for 4 slots. Pepe has had so many chances it's ludicrous and he finished below Bomber tonight so we're down to 7 rider left. We've all said Richardsons time is up, so we're down to finding 1 rider to take out of the GP's and give his place to Bomber. Surely if Richardson on 34 goes, Iversen on 36 has to be seen as not good enough. Then of course there's Peter Karlsson, I can't see BSI nominating him either. So all in all, I'd say things must look good for Bomber?! Driver places in F1 comes down to sponsorship and commercial gain, Minardi (I think it was them) wanted 2 Brits about 3 years ago and told them they both had to find £x million in sponsorship or they'd be forced to pick between the 2 as they could only have 1 Brit or the other. I seem to remember sponsorship meant that neither got the drive in the end! No F1 team that I can think of has ever had two drivers of the same Nationality. It's gone nothing to with junior forumulae, it's down to the owner fo rht eteam picking the 2 best drivers for his team and that an amalgamation of talent and commercial gain. There's certainly no qualifying for the F1 championship, no "if you win this race/series you'll be an F1 driver next year", it just doesn't happen, certian formulae draw the F1 bosses to your attention but thats about it.
  9. Well Thank You to him Updates from foreign meeting are often either hard to come by or we dcan't understand them. Much apreciated. (as are all updates) Or how about, as they used to do, the top 9 from this meeting, meet the bottom 7 from the GP's (would be 10 from this meeting due to TRicks retirement) and the top 7 from that meeting join the top 8 from the GP series. Because there's nothing to say the bottom 7 in the GP series are not actually top 15 material. F1, Superbikes...... Surely you're not telling me Fernando Alonso is not considered World Champion because none of the F1 guys qualified and everyone of them was in effect nominated, generally for commercial reasons!
  10. Here's the arguement for nominating not qualifying, is Jagus really a better rider over a season than Karlsson? With qualifying one race ruins your chances, with nominating, BSI can take all that into account. BTW, playing devils advocate. I do actually prefer qualifying!
  11. He finished below them so has hardly beat them! 8) (14) Piotr Protasiewicz, Polen, 7p ( 2 3 2 0 0 ) 9) (11) Ryan Sullivan, Australien, 7p ( 2 1 1 2 1 ) 10) (16) Matej Ferjan, Slovenien, 6p ( 1 2 0 2 1 ) 11) (7) Simon Stead, Storbritannien, 5p ( 2 2 0 1 0 ) 12) (6) Renat Gafurov, Ryssland, 5p ( 1 0 2 0 2 ) 13) (13) Martin Smolinski, Tyskland, 4p ( S 0 2 1 1 ) 14) (8) Mikael Max, Sverige, 2p ( 0 0 1 0 1 ) 15) (10) Robert Kosciecha, Polen, 2p ( 0 1 1 0 0 ) 16) (3) David Howe, Storbritannien, 1p ( 0 0 0 1 0 )
  12. What? Surely who ever is 4th will get a slot of Hans' plus there if Hans qualifies tonight, why would BSi want to give him a wildcard? Harris might get a wildcards on tonights showing. He's second reserve at the very least. Surely between Richardson and Harris for the last token British spot and I think Harris has a greater claim to it! I'd love to go to Cardiff and support Bomber, lets hope BSI see sense after tonights meeting!!
  13. Present? Erm, he's beat no current Gp riders tonight, as theres only 2 riding and they're only reserves, Hans Andersen and Ryan Sullivan.
  14. and Jagus is the first contender to drop a point to a no-hopper (in the scheme of things)
  15. Not an option due to the 30 mile rule I'd imagine even right on the other side of Cardiff, driving not flying you're still only talking 20 miles Even if you built it by Cardiff airport (which is out of Cardiff, through Barry and nearly in St Athens) you're talking 28.31 mile according to the AA! Thing is, by then you're talking old folk not the masses of Cardiff. While Newport Speedway is alive and plodding along, I can't see it happening, even if you got permission form the council etc and built your stadium , Tim Stone would not say yes, he'd be very foolish to IMO as Newport cannot afford to do anything which might take away a single fan.
  16. Maybe th eSwedes are thinking, "If it rains it gets soaking wet and it's off, if we cover it up i'll sweat and get wet but maybe not so wet it's un ridable". The Swedes are so far ahead of us when it come to track prep it's scary!
  17. I work in a team at work, however, I certainly don't always work in tandem with someone and it's often a case of working on your own for the team. Doesn't make it any less of a team effort, we all have to put something into a said project just not side by side at the same time. TBH, I don't like the idea of a team even where tactics for teams are determined by the leader, the whole idea that 3rd place being 6 points beind the leaders and 2nd place being 5 behind the leaders yet the 3rd place team can use a joker? They get 2nd while the 2nd place teams gets the win BUT the team who were 3rd are now joint 2nd, if they've won a heat more they get 2nd all becasue the other team could not use a joker! If you want to sue jokers it has to be a head to head event, not some 4TT thing. BTW, you can still team ride in the SWC, Gollob and Povazhny vs Karlsson anyone?! Classic heat!
  18. I have £1 E/W on Gjedde and £5 E/W on Pepe and Bomber. If Hans don't win it I'll be very suprised. My only worry is he might settle for a second or 3rd in the final to guarnetee his place rather than risk a pass so I don't want to put money on him to win it and an E/W bet is pointless.
  19. I notice Shazzy was on the bottom tier the blue brothers year, guess what year I was on the bottom tier? Maybe that year was just crap for atmosphere,on the bottom tier at least. My ultimate tip is sit by the Poles, they're wonderful people!
  20. Lets be honest, racing at Cardiff is pants, we all love Cardiff for the build up and the day out, how many would go for the GP and then toddle off back home again? Plus part of the fun is it'd a one a year thing. "Too much of a good thing is a bad thing"
  21. How will that work with the year after having the 100th GP at Cardiff?! Surely it'll be 101 then
  22. Believe me, I am not worried in the slightest! It'll never happen. Ben Wilson will become a good Pl rider, maybe a decent EL reserve, not much more.
  23. If Ben Wilson ever qualifies* for the Gp series or wins a GP, I'll run 4 laps at ecvery track in the nude! *So wildcards don't count, however, wining a round as a wildcard does.
