  1. No idea what the team name is but Lee Dicken and Chris Neath used to ride for them. Wold have been about 2001. Seem to remember the reported crowds in the Speedway star were always double figures, low double figures at that!!! I remember once reading they had 12 paying spectators assuming it was £10 to get in, the rider would have been lucky to get paid £20 if they were paid a % of the gate receipts
  2. Thanks Teresa. I'll keep an eye out for the results of the WA Title
  3. If he is the leading British rider, as Britain is part of the World, by definition, he is the leading British rider in the World. Sorry, it make me chuckle! I seem to remember reading that Craig Watson plans to compete. Wold imagine he'll have to qualify though.
  4. I know Ozyace said he'd post the result when he got back but I'm impatient. Does anyone know how Frank Smart did?
  5. It's not that bad, it would cost me that much in petrol alone to get to every Coventry meeting from Newport and we're talking a 230 mile round trip. Throw in tax, MOT, insurance and genral wear and tare and I think 15,000 skr is a bargin, as Morten has to travel nearly twice that distance (unless petrol is a lot cheaper in Sweden/Denmark.
  6. You're not the only ones. It was worth reading once. Not the 2nd, 3rd or 20th time!!!
  7. You make a very good point! GP to London and Phil Morris as wildcard!!!
  8. Forget Loram and Stead, they're not Welsh/local. Phil Morris for Wildcard!
  9. Hang on, we're constantly told we're behind Denmark, Oz, Sweden etc etc so for onc,e lets let us get ahead!! If a CL rider is eligable for the 250 World Championship and he has an advantage, then bloody great!! I fail to see whay it matter what experience they have, the whole point is to further yourself and if the CL does that, then great. Your suggestion is to ban the best, older Brits form this competion, so then we won't get a winner and people can do the "oh the Swedes, Poles and Danes are betetr than us" routine! My view on things, for what it's worth. Would be for first timers in the U-16s to be encouraged to ride a 250, after time, someone like Peter Oakes (or a pro-rider, assigned by the BSPA) can suggest that the rider is looking good enough to ride a 500. Have no hard and fast rules but a bit of advice that suggests starting on a 250, pointing towards the World Junior Championship using 250's as the reason why. That way, the likes of Richard Franklin don't have to go out and get 250 (hs parents actually) as he has had his couple of years and is clearly capable of riding a 500.
  10. WOW. We though the lunatics had taken over the asylum in the UK. What odds on 3 46-44 results in the play-offs? Or even 3 45-45 draws!! Ok if local rivals ride against each other they may want to beat each other but other teams might agree to fiddle the result.
  11. AFAIK, no! You might get lucky on ebay if someone does it. I do however, remeber seeing SWC videos/DVDs on amazon. You cold just ask if anyone on the forum has copies of the Sky coverage.
  12. Don't mean to piss on your bonfire but I think you're both wrong. It's Brylcreem
  13. Might have another xmas present there. £23 too (with postage), thats not bad for the whole seasons GP (and SWC) highlights.
  14. mmmmmm. Are they mixed in with the mashed potato? I'm actually starting to think this might not be a bad idea. Though I do think somewhere a bit more up market would be better, sort of suit/posh clothes style. (especially if we're talking £40!!!!!!!!)
  15. Just looking at the pictures from the last meeting What a night, IMO it could not have ended better, Ivan, fireworks and then the lights failed to come back on. That Mike Patrick picture of the crowd is great and at leats proves my mind os not playing tricks, I remeber getting there at about 6.30 having floored it from Newport after work and there was almost nowhere to stand! In the end me and my dad ended up on the apex of the 3rd/4th bend, squashed against the ricketty old "2 metre" (year right, about 60 cms!!!) safety barrier. I remember every time the rider come past burrying my head in the programme to avoid the shale and going home with my pockets, ears, nose, belly button and eyes full of shale (I'm still finding it in my coat 12 month later and numerous washes!). Also remember when Ivan was doing his final 4 flying laps we all compeltly ignored the safety barrier and climbed under it and leaned over the steel "safety" fence and cheered him as he come past. What a night, infact, what a place, it'll never be replicated and I don't think any other speedway track will quite have the same wow factor despite having so little passing!
  16. Oh please, no. I generally have no problem with BSI but the double points rule (under whatever name) is all their fault, it's why I said I'd never go to a SWC round (but sadly had a moment of weakness last year). Sadly it seems not only have the BSPA been brain washed but PZM have now. Do they not know how unhappy British fans are with the rule?
  17. I could be wrong sub but that looks pretty much like the finishing order from the "World Championship Final" AKA the GP qualifier. So they are infact "qualifiers".
  18. I don't believe anyone named 7 riders who were better than him
  19. Loram was a permanent wildcard in 99 so not then either. I could be wrong but I don't believe a British rider has ever won a GP as a permanent GP rider. Yet we have had 2 wins as wildcards. edit> Mark Loram won the last GP of 1997 in Denmark.
  20. Thats harsh! Going by your, they should qualify theory (which I do agree with BTW) thenn the top 8 qualify and then the next 7 should be the riders from the qualifying round. Wasn't Bomber 5th? Meaning if it was done the way you wanted, bomber would be in the GP's fairly?
  21. Wonderful news!!! (I think he might have to learn to gate tho!)
  22. But Jonsson, Gollob and Adams have failed to be World Champion. So they're GP failures too.
