Same rubbish, different track! Years back Ipswich had someone complaining about the noise to the council from the speedway on a week where the meeting had been rained off and on a week where there was no speedway as it was a GP weekend.

2 years? He was 3rd in the EL averages in 2014! Yes he was rubbish in the play-offs but he was good the rest of the season.

Coventry vs Poole last year! Because nobody is defending it so the "usual suspects" have nobody to point out why it was so bad. Maybe a lesson to be learnt there by some BV fans?!

Thats actually an impressive achievement Bear in mind 2010 and how two clubs nearly closed down and only a few short years later you might have an EL without either soon

Currently my two closest tracks are Somerset and Swindon. Somerset is about 40 miles away with equates to a near 90 minute journey on a Friday evening but can be home in a little over 30 minutes. Swindon takes about an hour. Coventry for a home meeting is about a 120 mile one way trip and I try and allow 2.5 hours to get there. My shortest journey to a speedway track, apart from pre-Newport and then the last year I've always lived within about 5 miles of a track (Newport or Coventry) but the closest was Cardiff, ok it took me 6 hour and 15 minutes to walk from door to track but I was in the pub for 6 hours of that! Have to get a bus and a train this year though, oh the shame, slumming it with the riff-raff!

I would imagine Bjerre phone is red hot this week with 6 or 7 clubs looking to try and fit him in I would imagine Watts had a few cursory phone calls too

This is why Poole win, they make changes. It's perfectly reasonable and the stick they're getting is odd.

Starke has an EL average of over 5 so doesn't fit!

How do you work that out?

It could be hard to fiddle for the play-offs as 20 meetings is a lot, you'd need to start throwing meetings pretty soon!

Rolling averages are updated twice a month now for all EDRs who have done 2 home and 2 away and all other riders who have done 4 home and 4 away. Rolling averages now only take into account this season and last season - any meetings from before that are discarded - so KK for example has to start again this season.

As pointed out, it means Newman stays in reserve as the #7 has to be an EDR, Kurtz swaps with Kurtz while Bjarne and Buzz will ride as second strings. Once Kurtz completed 4 home and 4 away (currently 9th away) he'll get a new average 7 days later (so the 16th) which could see him over take Bjarne -and potentially by then Bjarne could have over taken Buzz and even Holder!

Newman moves into the 1-5 on Friday.Then Ellis moves into the 1-5 on Sunday. Both will be #1 in the averages so will have to ride at 1,3 or 5. Totally irrelevant for Newman as Poole don't have a meeting on Friday or Saturday.

In my scenario Poole would still have Newman and Ellis as EDRs but Ellis could be, quite legally, replaced by 9 point EL guests (ie, anyone apart from Doyle and Iversen)

When it's going to cost 100's of 1000's of other peoples money I'd say it's only right and fair that I have a "dose of paranoia"

OK, I'll do some slap-dash, piss-poor testing. Not really adequate, I'll not push the system to the limits because I'm sure on the day it'll fall into place. What can go wrong eh? Then when things do go wrong I'll go away and fix them, reporting back they're fine, I'll let them book out the studio, the presenter, the players etc only to tell them a couple of days later, "Only joking, Ive messed up again, going to be another week"

You joke but if Ellis was to break his leg on Wednesday (and please nobody think I'm in any way hope he does!) then Poole would be allowed 9 point guests for him for the rest of the season. But if his average was a point lower and he was in reserve but Newman was in the 1-5 then Ellis could only be replaced by 4.5 PL riders. That is an utter madness!

I'm off to record a TV show with work on the weekend. I'm not going to do ANY testing of the software, I'm just going to turn up and try it. If anyone asks me what I'm foing I'll say it worked for BV speedway, Aces 51 and Fred Flange are happy with not testing things too. Will make it really exciting too, "will we record a TV show or not?" One things or us, if it does fail it won't take me 6 weeks to fix it!
