Glasgow V Newcastle Championship 8th April 2017
GS550 replied to dantodan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
As mac101 explained, Tom Perry snapped the sprocket bolts clean off the rear hub in one of his races and had ignition problems in another, changed the complete ignition system and then waited till the NJL match finished to check everything was ok for the next match 'tomorrow' so all sorted now. I take the positive side of that (the cup is half full rather than half empty) and very professional going forward to the next match and I agree with mac101 that he could be a key rider for Glasgow today at reserve. -
A track that isn't a trick track with ten thousand percent home advantage

You spelt it wrong -
Not at all mate, no worries. You did a good job. Even at 3.5 miles, can't remember when I last walked that far. I wouldn't walk 100 yards in the dark. Quick and easy by taxi of course.

Haha. Yeah about the same number of people and the same kind of drinks, all pints of beer.... not counting the expensive cocktail chasers

There's one or two on here that will be more in the know with the Old Firm ticket side of things, incl The Scotsman.

Cat... pigeons... hope all goes well Speedball

I remember when a round of drinks cost only a tenner, I bought a round last week I got some change from forty quid. Speedway admission prices have been in the teens for what seems like forever, in this day and age that really is cheap as chips.

You have my sympathy Whippy, I've had similarly bad luck at Scunthorpe - I seem to turn up on its off days. Seems every track has its good and not so good days. Probably worth you having another visit to Ashfield sometime and me giving Scunny yet another try - knowing my luck it will be one of the EWR's off days right enough.

I didn't say it was walking distance, I said its "almost" walking distance and advised to use a taxi that would only be 2 mins. More accurately 5 minutes by taxi as "Premier Inn, Bathgate, EH48 1LL" to "Armadale Stadium, Bathgate Road, EH48 2PD" is, according to AA route planner, 4.8 miles. So yeah would be a long walk.

The whole lot of them are cheap as chips if you ask me. We are well into the 21st century, a quid is worth about 30p these days, so in real terms about a fiver. Great value.

Premier Inn at Bathgate is well placed for Armadale, think its the one that used to be a Holiday Inn Express. Its almost within walking distance of Armadale and on the side of Armadale that the track is. So a taxi would be 2 mins. Wouldn't trail back into Edinburgh personally when its only 2 mins by taxi to the Prem Inn Bathgate. Sounds like you've got the Glasgow travel and accommodation options sussed.

By all reports track prep affected by sustained rain through the week leading up to the meeting. As for the EWR its a track that's let me down on my visits with processional follow my leader non-racing and added to that the viewing has been poor being far too low down. In my opinion a vastly over-rated track that simply hasn't delivered when I've visited and why I've no great wish to return there.
