I'm going to Ibrox, under duress. Dark glasses and my crucifix close to my heart though. Anyway from what I hear club functions will be taking place in the Hydro going forward. To accomodate our rapidly increasing, international fan base. Good times.

LOL @Statman. I sincerely hope Poole continue their success as speedway needs all the support it can get, but don't kid yourself about Belle Vue. They will make sure they bring the crowds back over the next few years.

Lawson seems to have deleted his twitter not that he posted much.

An independent EXECUTIVE chairman of the BSPA who arbitrates and has business experience. Has never been anywhere near Wimbourne rd. Thing is even a part time post is going to cost at least 20K which is a lot for Speedway.

BUMP Did you know allied sponsor Chris Harris? New to me..... anyway lets keep this thread where it belongs, at the top.

Belle vue is very tempting - these are good friendlies before we meet each other the next week. Should make for a very hyped fan base at the first derby.

I am still hopeful this gets built, but they are a) incompetent or At it Jow on earth did thet ever believe the stadium would be built by the start of this season? Answer must be they didn't. So why did they lie? With the way this has rolled out, I hope it is incompetence and not something more sinister.

Glasgow and Edinburgh do it - but USUALLY there's a discount. For home fans a) it's cheaper and it avoids the queues at the big meetings. Have used it many times and found it useful. Although the fact bele vue are charging more is a bit duff. However I expect I'll buy tickets a week in advance (having checked the weather) when I come down to watch Belle Vue pump Poole.

Shurely shome mishtake. Were West Lothian Council unavailable?

I hope so. Surely we've had the years allowance already.

Lakeside Speedway - Smoke & Mirrors?

To be fair most official forums are closing / have closed over the past few years. I think it's more a case of ensuring they aren't responsible for peoples comments and the newer social media channels available. I doubt it's sinister, but given a choice - if I was running a team I'd be happy for the fans to have a forum, but wouldn't administer it. PS Proboards is very easy to set up if you want it. -
Dreamt last night the entire summer was cancelled due to constant rain.

Periscope. A Promoters Nightmare App.

Would be good, but as Morrissey says, it would probably be for me to watch replays as I go to the event for the sounds, live action, friends, food etc etc -
That wouldn't be fair either. Changing the rules just to punish one team.
-
Must say I agree. Any team has to sign who they think is the best option for themselves, within the rules. End of. Not that we will have to worry about Edinburgh this season anyway.

Just because one answer is 'right' doesn't mean another is wrong. Even if it's factually incorrect or made up. Fair play to Poole that looks good with the big screen etc. Hopefully Tigers Den will have this sometime soon.

I always wonder how this works.... it's definately much better to have Speedway in town, as if a car's needed you lose fans. Ashfield is right next to an estate but doesn't seem to be an issue. IMO if it's finished by half ten I'd like to have a speedway track nearby. It's the football crowd that used to annoy me at my last place as they were steaming and or parked their car in your drive!

All it needs is a few forward thinking promoters though, and tbh there seem to be a few at the moment. The point with boxing is that UFC (which I don't like) gave it a kick and people like Matchroom really picked up the baton, result being the promotion has been completely overhauled and boxing is having a resurgance. Then look at some of the old school promoters in boxing struggling to sell out 4k capacity venues, wheras Matchroom have been visionary and are selling 20k tickets no bother by putting on a great card and a great show.

They had a guy planting the confederate flag at Glasgow recently - then Roary decked him.

Speedway is mega cheap in comparison to other sports in the UK. At the end of the day there is no way ticket prices are going to drop to 10 or 12 quid. And the purists / diehards won't keep the sport going. I get annoyed when people complain about the Razzmattaz etc - if it brings young people in then go for it. Look at how Matchroom attract a new crowd to boxing - Stormzy rapping in the ring, DJs, massive entrances, singers - I'm not complaining because Glasgow are delivering the goods, but the kind of people who complain about the razzmattazz bemuse me.

The fact is Speedway could be much bigger than it is, ANY sport could be. Look at what Matchroom has done with the Darts and also the way Eddie Hearn promotes boxing. Matchroom could make Speedway big, fact. Everything is a minority sport other than football, and there is a massive audience for the minority sports out there. As I say, look at the job Matchroom have done with Darts at the PDC, and with Anthony Joshua in the boxing. I'd LOVE to see the Hearns involved in Speedway. Listen to the first few minutes of Hearn here, in fact the whole thing is good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3NSpGE8dTY
