  1. It is great that both Glasgow and Edinburgh have strong teams now..... their rivalry goes back a long long way !!!! The results is no certainty.... everything to play for. IS there a run off if it is all square after 30 races ?????????
  2. One race night week is an absolute non -starter in Britain. Sweden and Poland are in their own stadiums and can race when they want. Most British tracks are renting from someoneelse and can only ride on night's that they are allowed to. One match a week is feasible but these will still clash with SGP / SEC and other FIM events apart from Sweden and Poland !!!
  3. The problem is that the BSPA is run on a shoe string. Ideally , an independent person should run the Sport......but who is going to pay the bill ??????
  4. IF you thought the TV presentation was not great on the TV , spare a thought for the fans in the stadium who had to twiddle their thumbs whilst the other match was being shown. It can't be beyond the TV to let the matches run and let the presentation on the TV lag behind a little with both matches runnning their own paths. Great result for Belle Vue and a fitting end to the greyhound stadium by reaching the play off final. It's now all to play for !!
  5. By the looks of it the weather might be the determining factor as to the journey to the final.
  6. I have no problem in going to Redcar, Last meeting that I saw was Redcar v Sheffield. a godd entertaining match....
  7. Peterborough is an excellent race track and the fours is always worth a visit for that reason. It does not give a home track advantage for that very reason. If they run it at Leicester , then I will stay at home. I have been to Leicester 8 times.... Re entertainment on the track .......one was ok and the others were poor. If they go to a good track then I will go
  8. When a 125 / 250 cc bike is £4800 , it shows how restrictive coming in to the sport is at the lower level. John Davis is only reiterating what many world class riders from the past have already said. It can only happen in a controlled manner and needs the Riders Association to drive it forward. no point waiting for the FIM to do anything along these lines
  9. Bringing Speedway to a new venture is difficult. many councils are negative to Speedway Manchester City Council are pro sport and we must not forget that a big thank you also goes out to them as well. The council have been keen to help to maintain the history of Belle Vue and in particulat the new Speedway stadium. don't forget that this is Belle Vue Sports village which includes Speedway, a 2000 seater Basketball centre , a 3G pitch (which is already in use ) , a 3g rugby pitch inside the Speedway and an upgrade of the Belle Vue Leisure Centre. The rugby pitch is not full size but the school next door will be using it.
  10. Rob is absolutely right regards bringing on the younger riders at the bottom of the team. There are those that want build a team with strength at reserve to make sure they have a chance of winning the league.... and all this does is increase the wage bill for the promoters. It is time to live within our means....
  11. Guests are a necessary evil that Speedway supporters have to live with. Choosing R/R is an option but not always the best one. I cannot foresee British Speedway ever having squads.
  12. Until Speedway is run by an independent person who will sort the rulebook out and run the Sport for the sake of the Sport, Speedway will languish amongst the also rans in British Sport.
  13. What a marvelous chance to see Jason again and ask him questions. Undoubtedly Jason is by far the best rider in the modern era to wear the Ace of Clubs.
  14. The tie is not over until it is mathematically certain who the winner is. a 14 point lead is a great starting point for Belle Vue and they are slight favourites to go through. I only hope that the weather behaves so that both teams are allowed to race rather than the meeting be decided on poor track conditions due to the weather . Weather permitting , I will be there !!
  15. Message to Aces 51 ; Don't get wound up by inane comments by various members of this site. Replying to their comments achieves nothing other than giving them the feeling that they have won or wound you up.. Dignity and knowing that you are right is far more satisfying.
  16. If they paid weather forecasters on accuracy then they would all be paupers !!!!
  17. I have seen three meetings at Vetlanda and all three were great entertainment... admittedly a long time ago. Tonight's meeting had a sprinkling of good racing... but in the main it was difficult to pass .nothing like the meetings that I saw. You have to ask yourself the question...... when a rider of the ability of Niels K Iversen struggles to pass other riders where has the track preparation gone wrong ?
  18. Pleased to see Plymouth in the play offs .well done... Some hard miles for anyone following their team in the play offs....
  19. Enough said about the dates of the fixture.... time to do the business on the track
  20. Swedish and Polish tracks are in general better prepared than British tracks. As a consequence, the entertainment value of the racing is also better. British tracks are quite variable. Some are prepared well and the entertainment value is just as good as Swedish orPolish racks. however there are some British tracks that are poorly prepared and entertainment value is low to say the least. After over 50 years of watching Speedway , I pick and choose my British meetings carefully and refuse to go to some British tracks whilst regularly attending others. Distance no object but I only visit those tracks that are going to give me entertainment.
  21. Wildcards are a good idea to cover for riders like Hampel who were injured during the season. However, it is too cosy once you get in to the SGP and too difficult to get in. Only the top 5 should automatically come back the next year with 3 wild cards. That leaves 7 places for the SGP Qualifier and hopefully bring new blood in to the Finals each year.
  22. Hopefully , this will not be the last meeting and Rob runs in 2016. Fingers crossed..... we cannot afford to lose such a good track.
  23. There is a Promoters meeting on both the 22nd and 23rd. so the timing fits with not being able to announce until after the promoters meeting... so I think the announcement is likely to be positive rather than negative . IF it was bad news then they could just state it and get it over with.
  24. A good performance from Belle Vue who rode as a team. Worrall and Wright were having a good battle in Heat 12 and Steve just clipped Wright and was rightly excluded... nothing deliberate there just hard racing . With regards to the falls / exclusions , I thought the referee got it right. Really pleased with the lead.... makes us slight favourites but still all to play for, Aces should be going there wanting to win not defend a lead.
  25. The most important factor is that Berwick continue in 2016. once that is sorted then it is time to sort out the team. Good luck re guaranteeing Speedway at Berwick in 2016!!,
