  1. what a ridiculous thing to write, delighted for speedway, doesnt alter turmoil greyhound racing is in
  2. of course its not a secret, why would it be?but whos interested?
  3. agree ray,big thank you to matt, but my interest now is in the new promoter and the future for poole speedway, not at all what matt ford does next, wish him well but not interested
  4. horse racing is having an upsurge in attendance etc and you could argue that at a flat meeting there could be 6 races of 2-3 mins each or less, they fill the dead time and provide other on course attractions, also provide comfort and usually excellent food
  5. blueboy you are confused, the figures you quote for 2014 is the statutory funding based on, i believe 0.6% of bookmaker turnover known as the bgrf, the big money that tracks are receiving now is from sis(ladbrokes corals with their offshore partners) for worldwide media rights not the government.Poole and swindon greyhounds have aligned themselves with the rival media group gmg(arc group) who many industry experts believe will lose out completely(though when sis become the sole media provider they will recruit a few ex gmg tracks) Small provincial tracks like henlow and harlow are now racing 5or6 times a wk paying trainers very well, thanks to their sis money,at the early morning meetings trainers are getting £100 for every runner they supply plus other contract bonuses.also bluey, bags as a company no longer exists it was dissolved by mutual agreement of the shareholders(mostly various betting operators) as they have now split into rival factions, the promoters then decided to keep the word"bags" as a brand name only as it was associated by customers with greyhound racing.......apologies to speedway fans for all that, its pouring with rain and ive nothing to do this morning sorry!!!
  6. its been well reported that some tracks have been offered 20 /25 million contracts to provide racing for the next 4/5yrs,its all global now, tracks in uk now racing at 8am in the morning to provide pictures for foreign lands, big players have recently bought into betting markets in africa and scandinavia, serious money blueboy.(bye the way towcester was widely regarded as a bad running track,no camber and too wide, aimed at 8 dog races which didnt take off, also the horse grandstand was to far away from the track, certainly wasnt like the white city!!)
  7. without going into all the details, which would take pages, the greyhound industry, particularly the betting side, is in some turmoil, some tracks are going to make many many millions and others nothing, looking like swindon and poole are both in the second group, there are other issues as well.Stadia uk make very good money out of the speedway but it is only 20 evenings per yr,not enough to make the stadium viable.
  8. news on greyhound forum this evening that swindon closes 31st dec obviously not confirmed, with all sorts of problems at poole maybe stadia uk are going to concentrate on poor torquay !!
  9. excuse me if im wrong, but all promoters agree at conference the principal for business reasons that teams have to win at home, hence, give the home team a strong guest
  10. pretty much spot on ghosty, heard some guys saying half jokingly, that they didnt think matt would be giving the same excellent arrangement to any new purchaser that he and mike got from mr stewksbury.
  11. there are some clever businessmen who are very sceptical of the wisdom in buying any speedway club, poole is actually one of the riskier purchases because the present owner will want too much for it,i was with two existing sponsors who were discussing the sale and they both came up with a figure of 100k tops, but knew matt would want more, the big stumbling block is just what value you put on the goodwill, nobody knows. In your offer price you have to factor in how much dosh you need in reserve to cover risk, cost of assembling a 2019 team,40k bspa bond, the risk of 5 rain offs in a row,the risk of having similar very poor crowds as march to july this yr,the big risk that many of the sponsors are "matts sponsors" and may not stay with you,and the killer risk "security of tenure" bearing all the rumour re the stadium in the last 3months.But after all that(i doubt you fall into this category ss) if you are a wealthy enthusiast then go for it
  12. not strictly true lisa, the original negotiations as i understand was that the future leaseholder had to make the stadium available for two of the three sports, greyhounds, speedway and football, but that the leaseholder would decide which two would operate(certain that ptc were thinking the football would be poole town, even though that prospect reared its head a couple of yrs ago it would appear to be dead in the water)though to comply with the lease any football team would probably do.
  13. very good question, with poole being for sale many people have asked the same,so far the list of assets is 1xclapped out tractor,2xwheelbarrows and 5 rakes! rider assets? thats a big gamble,a buyer can only base an offer on the profits shown on the accounts, then has to factor in risks such as will attendance remain the same, what happens if first 3 meetings are rained off? and dont forget bspa bond! i think any prospective buyer has to be a massive fan, slightly mad a real gambler and very wealthy, sorry
  14. just watched replay certainly a shocking decision to exclude mpt, that crash and exclusion had big impact on final scoreline me thinks, as did somersets loss of holder cost them a place in the final me thinks.the second half of this season has certainly gone our way,of course harris regarded as the key to our revival would not be at poole had rye sadly not folded, but thats sport and you have to grab your good fortune with both hands
  15. big advantage to poole now,all the good work done by kl through the season gone in the final hours of the season
  16. think the offer for 2019 is more likely to be buy one get one free!
  17. bit of a risk re fitness with adam, think he mainly targeting to be fully fit for nxt season
  18. need to bring extra coffee and a good book then, will be lots of hanging around
  19. i know im now going to get a bit of stick but ive reread the last half dozen pages and have to admit after a long and intensive visit to poole quay at lunchtime yesterday i was really wound up,im annoyed i let you get to me so much, but you do say some idiotic things,in real life its unlikely our paths would ever cross, leastways not for long, but that can be a problem with internet forums.I understand matt is dissapointed with this partial reconciliation as not being one to miss an opportunity hed already booked dale allitt for the undercard lol.The only positive i can hope for is that in future you pause and try and think a little.if the pay per view customers have paid by credit card they will be entitled to a full refund!! very sorry to disappoint what was a growing number of fans lol
  20. there are actually 4 southern prem teams relatively local weymouth, dorchester, wimborne and poole all of which would have many pirates fans amongst their followers
  21. dont you understand the non league structure,im sure you dont which certainly doesnt surprise me, your pretty much the complete idiot, youve gone way past the accolade of being the village idiot However you have now called me stupid which i can assure im not ,we need to meet on monday, iwill meet you as you walk past selling the mags or perhaps we could have a chat in the car park.
  22. god you are embarrassing and a total imbecile ,speak to me on monday and call me" half hearted" Grandstand front row one tier back from the firstbend, you got the photo
  23. went to southern premier league match this afternoon and the the the talk was as much about mondays speedway as footie, its all building up and building up,be there or be square!! think it could still be very tight, but its definitely going to be good
  24. unlike the team manager who didnt appear to punch up to his weight
