Poole v Swindon SGB Prem A. 18th April 2018
poole keith replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
was speaking to the lads at the track on monday who were saying glyn (who everybody respects)was against ripping up the starts or the outside which has been the norm at poole for a few yrs, riders, manager and track staff need to get together and sort a plan.(no " track prep" lecture from starman reqd) -

totally agree, anybody with a reasonable understanding of the sport would have to predict poole to finish top of the league, and any home defeat this yr to be a major shock ,however will they be champions?now thats a different ball game, several teams are only one maybe two big changes away from being at lest equal, wolves the most likely me thinks ,have some big thrashings away, win at home by only a few points and pick up 3 league pts keeps them in striking distance of a play off place, averages crash, woofy in for a reserve, or two changes woofy and freddy back -
after passionately supporting them for so long they must be his second team

King's Lynn v Wolves 11/04/18
poole keith replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
i think its more a reflection and an indicator of the severe financial pressures speedway promoters(including ours) are facing this season(lets be honest if its cancelled and rearranged people like you and i would be there either way) -

crippling effect on cash flow for poole and many other clubs up and down the country, will take till mid summer at the earliest to pull it around ! -

desperately looking forward to this one (lets get going) will be in the restaurant with the sponsors super people who just quietly support the club in many ways, big well done to them. In the superb speedway star edition this wk i see the official wolves reporter predicts poole to finish 6th in the league, that certainly is a guy you want to have round for an evening of cards providing he brings loads of dosh with him! -
im sure the sarcastic explantion will follow from he who knows "everything" but actually knows nothing

"a big man in a small place" starman a ludicrous statement and a touch insulting to somerset speedway, speak regularly to a guy who goes nearly all poole and somerset meetings and was his opinion that last yr of the two, somerset had the better crowds. Its very possible in fact probable that somerset have the better business model, they own their stadium so dont have to pay say 50/100 k yr in rent(pure guess)they keep all food and drink receipts and any car park receipts plus income from all other events at the stadium,of the two businesses to most businessmen i would think somerset would be the more attractive option

i will decline your invitation to speak to you on friday, however i have told you before where i sit (unless am in the restaurant)but to be honest its unlikely were going to get on
-
pinny not sure i agree with with your tone, but you are 100%correct starman is a total embarrassment to poole speedway and its supporters.he is a volunteer(for which matt like all promoters appreciates) and performs several menial tasks on racenight but is in no way connected to the promotion and certainly not track prep(he would know as much about track prep as me, basically nothing)he made a mistake re "rideable/raceable" just needed to say oops sorry not proceed with ludicrous posts

havnt seen tonites meeting advertised anywhere is it normal admission price?,just checked the poole website where it states the next event is press and practice!

havent read all the posts but is holder missing for family reasons? if so odd, known dozens of people get divorced cant remember any of them taking wks off work.cant see anyway kildermand weakens the pirates, would be happy if the swap was permanent

it amazes me that people on this forum know what the hancock family can and cannot afford, where do they get this information from please?

i know your having a bit of a dig blueboy but your reply to bolton probably has some accuracy,i dont think last yrs bad attendances were solely down to a losing team, but any team, in any sport suffers when theyre losing.Poole had a golden spell when firstly holder/ward then magic were such fantastic entertainment the atmosphere they generated among the fans was unreal, the last few yrs its been impossible to repeat that with the riders on show and for the casual fan maybe the appeal was lost a little.Pleasing indicator that season tkt sales are up though wont increase revenue because those people would have been there anyway, paying at the gate

plenty of surface water on the track this morning, hardly surprising!2nd bend very very wet,the exit under standing water

on the" greyhound star" website it appears builders barrets have wrote to the council with concerns re noise from the speedway,as the existing stadium is going to be refurbed and not relocated to the corner of the site the houses are now closer than originaly planned(.cant do the link)
