Kings Lynn V Poole 25/04/18
poole keith replied to therefused's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
two "good lads" -
team kevlars i think unlikely to be brought back at poole this season as purely a cost cutting decision, most clubs are anticipating a very tough financial yr in the speedway world not just poole, early season financial targets almost certainly already missed.I prefer team kevlars but can easily get by without them!

didnt you tell glyn the track" needed more water during the day"????

cue an explanation from a "shale expert"

starman please try and think just a little before you post, your making a complete fool of yourself, and unfortunately its on a poole thread and reflects badly on us all.

ps forgot to give swindon credit for their totally deserved victory, they gave us a hiding and a lesson in gating and very determined 1st bend riding, masters head and shoulders above any poole rider.last yrs team looked excellent on paper and this yrs looked even better, matt ford is superb at putting these teams together, however i wonder if some are perhaps" mercenaries" looking for extra paydays and not really craving trophys? last yrs team seemed to totally lack team spirit and leadership hope its not the same this yr.Anyway as they say, one "robin" doesnt make a summer! so onwards and upwards.(must say hello to our dear friend, who was home on holiday so she joined us last nite xx pps was the programme better when you wrote most of it??) -

i fully understand the thinking behind this yrs changes to the presentation but not convinced they are an improvement, does 1950s brass band music really work in 2018? The general consensus around us was that bringing the team around and doing post meeting interviews in front of the main grandstand was preferable to the" press" conference in the glass grandstand (is there much of a "press" representation ?) I did also feel a bit sorry for the meeting sponsors who were virtually on their own on the centre green waiting for their chosen rider of the night to walk across from the pits, the experience for sponsors after the meeting was imo excellent in previous yrs. Just some thoughts maybe other fans disagree. -

was speaking to the lads at the track on monday who were saying glyn (who everybody respects)was against ripping up the starts or the outside which has been the norm at poole for a few yrs, riders, manager and track staff need to get together and sort a plan.(no " track prep" lecture from starman reqd) -

totally agree, anybody with a reasonable understanding of the sport would have to predict poole to finish top of the league, and any home defeat this yr to be a major shock ,however will they be champions?now thats a different ball game, several teams are only one maybe two big changes away from being at lest equal, wolves the most likely me thinks ,have some big thrashings away, win at home by only a few points and pick up 3 league pts keeps them in striking distance of a play off place, averages crash, woofy in for a reserve, or two changes woofy and freddy back -
after passionately supporting them for so long they must be his second team

i think its more a reflection and an indicator of the severe financial pressures speedway promoters(including ours) are facing this season(lets be honest if its cancelled and rearranged people like you and i would be there either way) -

crippling effect on cash flow for poole and many other clubs up and down the country, will take till mid summer at the earliest to pull it around ! -

desperately looking forward to this one (lets get going) will be in the restaurant with the sponsors super people who just quietly support the club in many ways, big well done to them. In the superb speedway star edition this wk i see the official wolves reporter predicts poole to finish 6th in the league, that certainly is a guy you want to have round for an evening of cards providing he brings loads of dosh with him! -
im sure the sarcastic explantion will follow from he who knows "everything" but actually knows nothing
-
"a big man in a small place" starman a ludicrous statement and a touch insulting to somerset speedway, speak regularly to a guy who goes nearly all poole and somerset meetings and was his opinion that last yr of the two, somerset had the better crowds. Its very possible in fact probable that somerset have the better business model, they own their stadium so dont have to pay say 50/100 k yr in rent(pure guess)they keep all food and drink receipts and any car park receipts plus income from all other events at the stadium,of the two businesses to most businessmen i would think somerset would be the more attractive option
