Rain - Edinburgh (armadale)
speed ace replied to TheScotsman's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
That's not very nice, but it is well-known that East Lothian has a much drier climate. -
Think the title of this thread should really be, whos going to win the play offs. After the run of unbeaten matches Somerset have had this season I don't think anyone else will catch them now (barring disaster). So I'm going to say Somerset for the league and if finishing positions in the league table tie in wouldn't rule out an all Scottish play off final again.

Monarchs should never be underestimated. Just depends which ones "turn up" at which meetings. -

Are you going to be the one to tell him, and give him the reason? An allegation he may not agree with or take too well, when YOU tell him. -

Plymouth V Glasgow (pl) 12/08/16
speed ace replied to damosuzuki's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
If previous matches are anything to go on, Glasgow need to be well in front before that or they will cave in when the pressure is on. Rest of the Tiger need to be on their game, otherwise Bach will be a big miss oon the normally slick SBA. -

You sure you've got the date right? -
Really don't know what the problem is with either of these two being able to guest, as both were being used to replace riders with a similar>higher average. Irrespective of their previous averages, surely it's the current one that should count. And yes I do know it states in the rules about previous pl average over 4 and the amended rule about eligibility at start of season. Does the latter not contradict it only valid for team building at start of the year. (Haven't seen this rule or the one about riders being able to move into team if average allows).
-
Well the bottom line is it does need sorted and quickly!!!!!Hardly seems fair one team being able to use r/r for their #7 while another team isn't allowed a guest up to the average of the injured rider, who is still at #7, both of whom are injured.(if it was only meant for initial team building) Then again it's speedway, the self destruct button was pressed years ago!!!!!!! Let's see Busters new rule book next year.

If it was football, the team manager would be the one to get it in the neck. -

Please don't take my point as personal against the panthers, and I do understand how r/r works, but at that point they did not have an active nl eligible rider. I like yourself was under the impression that #7s would stay there for the entire season. Tom Perry just happens to be a good example to use to show how the system is flawed, as it can be doing his confidence (or earnings) absolutely no good going from free scoring reserve to struggling second string. Really think this #7 thing was introduced without proper provision being made for all the scenarios which have arisen this season. -

So, let's assume at some point somehow a guest is required for the original nl eligible #7 who is now in main body of team, who is eligible to guest for him, bearing in mind all teams must have a rider eligible to ride nl? -

So what about Peterborough, seems to make a mockery of protecting rides, forcing team managers on opposite side unable to make a change in heat 4 and lowering the riders confidence for the rest of the meeting. And who is eligible to guest at #7 for Holub? -

Always nice when impartial, neutral, supporters attend!Don't think you will be disappointed with the result.. -

The only beneficiaries of the doubling up/down arrangement are the riders, IMHO it either needs to stop, or each league needs to have a fixed race night, and we all know how unlikely that is to happen as long as speedway clubs don't own their own stadiums, but that's another issue. -

Their seems to be an implication here that Glasgow are to blame for Berwicks greed in accepting a financially lucrative fixture from Sky. As a previous poster pointed out hopefully Berwick will come out of it okay, with gains from one meeting offsetting the loss from the other financially. Unfortunately the real lossers here are the unable to make it traveling supporters. Incidentally, think Berwick will win this one as long as Dawid hits the ground running -
Got to agree, well almost, think Glasgow and Workington could swap places unless Glasgow pick up a few point away from home and manage to keep a clean sheet at home.

4+2 I'm neither an Edinburgh or Scunthorp fan, but I agree with the ruling as it appears correct, it's the way they are written that makes them seem contradictory. Seems to me you're contradicting yourself, as if you deduct the points scored by the rider in question, then it would have changed the result. Great race track and good return for Mitchell on his first pl match after a long time out, now let's all move on.
-
Hope they have to rerun the meeting with the inclusion of Bewley if the appeal is upheld much better to decide the winner on track rather than in an office. Seems to me a bit strange so many posters implying Davey was too good a guest, when the normal opinion is he's not good enough to compete at this level.

Seems a bit of blame being pointed towards excess traveling for Ayers dip in form. Is it not possible that he's finding it difficult to keep up to date with servicing engines and regular maintenance of his equipment with such a busy schedule, coupled with the fact he probably isn't being paid much more at NL level than he lays out on his equipment. Is Rene eligible? -
Seems to me the inclusion of Davey was a massive gamble for the Monarchs on more than one front. Was there no other eligible riders available on the day?, as after only two competitive NL matches in the last three years I don't think his inclusion was done to strengthen their team, obviously they were being loyal to one of their own assets, or am I being naive? Did they know something about Davey the rest of us have missed?
-
Rules don't allow riders back in a restart if they leave the track either, but it's peterborough after all, let's see how long it takes for Perry to come back from injury, and how long before he's back at reserve.
-
Is there something wrong with trying to restore a riders confidence by riding at a lower level for a while, and in turn letting his opponents see how much they need to raise their game to get to the next level, it would also give them a sense of achievement when they beat them.
-
That's rich coming from a follower of a team with an eastern European at number 7, or is that the dodgy your referring to?
-
At who's expense? He rode in a semi final and finished in the top eight. Bridger didn't compete, and Danny King got a pick which was justified due to the circumstances.
