Scunthorpe Scorpions 2020

SIMON Lambert has been named Scunthorpe Scorpions captain for the upcoming season. It’s a huge honour for the Lincolnshire-based racer who re-joined the club for his second spell midway through the 2019 campaign. A string of solid performances from Lambert meant he secured a place in the Scorpion’s side for the following year before league racing was cancelled amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Following the departure of Jake Allen the experienced Brit will now take over as club captain for 2021, but he is no stranger to the role having been skipper at Boston and Peterborough in years gone by. A delighted Lambert said: “I am very honoured and proud to be named captain of Scunthorpe this year. It’s not only a proud moment for me but also my family. “It’s great news for my sponsors and fans who have supported me throughout my career. I will be doing my very best to keep the team spirit high within the team. I will be behind all the boys 100 per cent and who knows we might be able to lift a trophy by the end of the year. “It’s a massive boost for me before the start of the season and like I say, it is a big and proud moment for me having been captain at Peterborough and Boston before now. I can’t wait to get going and lead the team for the first time against Plymouth on May 21.” -

whilst i am aware of who said rider is, i dont think the team will be that bad at home.. yeah we're gonna take some absolute thrashings away (just not at plymouth, the oap's will be begging for their retirement home by then) but we should be ok at home -

Personally, even though Rob's honouring his commitments, I'd personally go for Batchelor for Allen Connor Mountain for Pijper Ryan Kinsley for Lambert but thats not gonna happen, sadly.... If the team isn't going to be competitive, I shall be going to support Sheffield in the premiership most weeks, as much as I have time and respect for rob, is it too much to ask as a loyal supporter of 15 years for a successful season -

I'd still personally make 3 changes, not that I can see Rob doing that.. personally, i just cant wait to be back on the terraces with me mates, and got a plymouth/poole away holiday in mind too, even though we're gunna get smashed -

You never know in speedway, if one or two of them get injured, that could be their chances gone, look at us a couple of yrs ago with Steve... I wouldn't hit the panic button yet, I'm sure our brilliant leader and chairman has a plan in mind to make us competitive come May or whenever we're starting -

Ryan Kinsley, shame he's not snapped up in the Championship this season, did a decent enough job for us in 2019 -
