Barker the obvious choice, has made a good start to the championship season and won’t be costing the earth above what heeps will have been compared to a continental 7pt rider. shame for heeps he’s a good kid, but I guess there comes a point where you’re not a kid no more and you’ve just simply got to be more professional and better prepared for the season, 2019 the season before covid him and Jake were a revelation at reserve and when riding in the team - no coincidence that that was the hardest he’d ever worked on his fitness and preparation in the off season.
-
Track was much better prepared for home riders in the kings lynn match, nowhere near as slick
-
Belle Vue is an unbelievable racetrack, but there’s little home advantage is there, every rider likes going there, got to get the set up right for sure but not got the same sort of home advantage of say monmore green or other smaller more technical tracks
-
You think Fricke is going to average higher than doyle this season??
-
Without a doubt, sheffield and ipswich much stronger than last season tho, kings Lynn not looking like front runners but they won’t be whipping boys next season, going to be a much more open season and imo wolves will be weaker this year than last
-
Wolves will be entertaining and competitive again but not league contenders imo, worrall and kemp replacing Schlein and Nicol makes them a bit weaker than last season where they eventually fell short come the play offs
-
Can add kings Lynns ploughed field of the past few seasons to that too if you’re gonna throw shade from your arm chair, tracks been absolutely dreadful every time I’ve visited in each of the past 3/4 seasons
-
They wouldn’t reduce crumps average after he’d been retired for 7 years so can’t imagine they’ll be arsed changing tai average the other way either
-
Where did I make any suggestion of king upping his average??
-
Remember several seasons ago bomber was interviewed after a race he’d just come second to Danny and said he was watching Danny trying pick up the lines as he’s so good round ipswich… not sure he learned a lot based on subsequent performances for/against us at Foxhall but for sure other riders take note of how Danny rides Foxhall no doubt, jake didn’t look like he had the confidence to go out in the dirt at any point last season tho did he
-
Tbh outside of Sheffield I don’t see any other team looking particularly any stronger, comfortably better side than kings lynn imo, pboro wasted a lot of points in ostergaard, can’t see him scoring anywhere near as well off the back of the injuries and let’s face it last season was the best year of his career it was the anomaly, wolves have replaced schlein and nicol with worrall and kemp 2 considerably weaker riders and who on earth are Belle Vue going to sign - who’s actually left and willing to ride in the uk to pad the remaining places out and be competitive, swapping max for bewley is like for like, so next years side hasn’t changed really at all on this years side accept they’ve now got to find replacements/improvements on the worrall and I can’t see who’s left to do so… we’ve got a strong reserve pairing, arguably the best 1&5 in the league and 3 riders with a point to prove on low averages, injury free and I’m quietly confident the witches are the dark horses, but please keep writing them off I’m sure it’ll only make them more determined to prove you wrong!
-
From what I heard I’m not sure he’s even planning on a full season in championship, will be over with Seth but most likely just ride in a few individuals and is planning a farewell meeting
-
Tbh given cook could’ve been fit in place of any of Heeps riss and batch it’s a pretty damning indictment of his up and down form and effort last year, cookie at his best a few years back undoubtedly a class rider - can he get his right again to be consistent at a higher level Louis obviously didn’t seem him worth another gamble
-
Well then he’s full of it then isn’t he…. Great start doh
-
Putting a lot of faith in the upside of low averages batch and riss are on, if they both hit the ground running it’s a good side if we get the 2021version of batch Louis gonna look pretty bad again, it’s a bit galling to think we could’ve fitted in a much stronger rider than say Heeps or starke erik mentioned as an away rider he’s never scored less than 8 at Foxhall if he does that all season as a home rider he’ll be a very dependable 3/4
-
Tbh while it’s a shame to be that far under the limit if they’re the final two, batch and riss both on falsely low averages coming off poor seasons, but riss rides Foxhall very well as has batch in the past, plus batch has had his best seasons when riding in a team with doyle so both could easily end up being trump cards, the only rider to score more points in the league than Danny king last season was bewley who’s now departed. I dare say doyle will comfortably be the highest scoring rider in the league next year, starke and Rowe will be one of the strongest reserve pairings for sure, always question marks over Heeps seems to have and upward season and then a bad one but hopefully the influence of doyle can help him Shame to give up so much of the team building limit but if you took all the numbers away and just showed me the names on paper against the other sides I’d be pretty happy tbh deffo think batch is a better option than buzz would’ve been, would of course take holder Snr in a heart beat but will believe the rumours when it’s confirmed, he’s supposedly been coming back to uk every off season for years now….
-
Could say the same about pboro and oystercard tbh, last season was an anomaly, rose above the level he’d previously achieved at any point in his career, bringing him back on a 7+ average after the horrific injuries makes zero sense other than sentiment
-
https://youtu.be/vLY2F8uze0A the better than lego quote is from an Aussie sportsman being interviewed back in the 90’s - became a bit of a cult phrase Aussies have used when interviewed after winning sporting events - along with drinking champagne from their shoes. Believe doyle made the quote when he won the world title haha
-
Obvs will reserve judgement on the side until the full 1-7 of all teams are complete and we’re able to compare but bringing buzz over rather than resigning cook seems a bizarre move for ipswich if true
-
Doyle confirmed, great start to team building, proper no.1
-
FYI heeps was included in my 1-7 draft based on me doing the maths on the other six and it leaving 5.26… with cam at 5.10 if I’ve got the other six right let’s face it cam will be that 7th rider, I’m not all for him or all against him, clearly this season he was massively hampered by the shoulder injury - tbh don’t think he ever had full fitness or strength back, but he did have a slow start before that, equally he can be a good rider at home and away at times if dropping to reserve
-
Time will tell won’t it
-
Doyle heeps riss cook king starke kemp r/s fits, would surely be the team to beat imo
-
King passed riss going over the start/finish line was clearly in front and can ride whatever line he wants, no contact riss got of the bike trying to con the ref
