2026 Premiership is Go! - At least 5 teams
89buttons replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Riders coming past while stood on the back straight “hoorah we’re on a 5-1, then as you see them cross the line, hang on they’re on a 5-1??” 🙈😂😂👌👌 -
He’d be dialled in no time he’s the world no.3!! And he won’t be trying to beat Emil and doyle in their back garden as an away rider
-
This or I could see Ellis and Scotty Nicholls instead of rew/newcomer comes out at 36.82 👍
-
Doesn’t have to be Ipswich but I’d love to see a Grand Prix and tight technical track
-
Kin hell a non Ipswich fan speaking sense and not just persecuting Louis and or the club for fun on this thread! Bravo Mike 👍

The basis of people praising Chris for the professionalism of how the club is run stems from the riders - all of the riders in the last few years to ride for Ipswich have echoed this statement many calling it the best run uk club they’ve worked for, this is where the fans bring these claims from. Your attempt to remove any praise of Chris in terms of the clubs sponsors/backing is kind of amusing, at a speedway club who’s job do you think it might be to go out and get those sponsors to support the club…? Maybe someone titled promoter? People on this forum since day one bemoan promoters only having self interest at heart, not caring about speedway, not actually getting out and promoting it properly, Chris has poured his heart and soul into the witches and worked his arse off promoting the club gaining the support of multiple long term local sponsors, affiliated the witches with Ipswich Town to benefit each club promotionally and yet that’s not a well run club its luck 🤷♂️😂 you talk of 30-40% of the clubs expenditure is covered by sponsorship as a negative, but last time I checked every other sport utilises sponsorship doesn’t it? Premier league football clubs raking in £60-100m a year from adidas/nike etc, selling the sleeve and stomach sponsors for millions, premiership rugby wouldn’t exist without huge sponsorship investment, tennis heavily invested with Rolex over the years, golf literally has pga tour events called “The John Deere Classic” “RSM Classic” where do you think the money is coming from for the prize pools in those yep you’ve guessed it - sponsorship!! As a lifelong witches fan I’m beyond gutted with Louis announcement to sadly sell up and walk away but I’m for one grateful for everything he’s done for the club and know the circumstances behind the scenes must be pretty dire for him to make such a decision.

This is pretty devastating news ☹️

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?

Bewley would soon get dialled in at Foxhall as a home rider, he’s never been far off the pace or anything while not racking up big scores admittedly. Have to remember nearly all of his races in those 10 meetings you mention he’s come up against either Emil or Doyle or both, as a home rider a rider with his ability would soon be turning the table and flying round Foxhall lowering the colours of opposition 1&5’s that are only occasionally suiting rather than riding there every week

If michelsen got close to coming I wonder if he could be tempted by someone next season with no Grand Prix 🤔
-
I think Tom is already signed at Ipswich for next year tbh. Along with this witches post, Tom posted a pic in witches suit a few days ago with caption “👀⚡️all eyes on 2026 planning already…”
-
I think Tom is nailed on to be back tbh. 50/50 on Danny and the club, I think he/they will either want him to race for Ipswich the rest of his career or he/they will see this season as mission complete and pursue a change of scenery for Danny and make space for the next generation of long term witches riders to remain. doyle 7.86 King 6.50 rew 6.19 ellis 5.92 tom 7.05 thompson 5.87 edwards/rushen RS 39.39 as much as I’d love to see Emil ride here for years to come if the team building regs are as per this season I can see this being our most likely team lineup. We’ve got to shed points and this keeps team continuity from our rider base from the past few seasons. if Emil were to come back emil 8.21 thompson 5.87 tom 7.05 ellis 5.92 Doyle 7.86 5.09 left edwards/rushen RS best options for me would be blodorn 4.87 or jeppesen 4.34 if jeppesen then one of Ellis or Thompson could be rew or king
-
No idea if the 36 limit is legit or a rumour as many have suggested but I’d swap rew and Brennan for Danny and Tobi tbh their combined is 0.11 more so still fits under the 36 and you’ve got two younger riders with much more potential upside for average improvement throughout the season and in Tom in a weakened league he’d be a proper no.5 to back up Doyley - he’s not far off that the way he finished the season this year in a stronger league.

Hopefully we can keep together as many of the victorious 2025 squad as possible for next season

Grand Final 2nd leg Ipswich vs Leicester

The notion Ipswich aren’t a family club is just flagrant trolling - fwiw belle vue are a similarly run club imo showing loyalty over countless years. Really can’t understand your constant derisive rhetoric towards the witches. Now being run by a second generation of the Louis family, both of whom were succesful riders and promoters over many decades. Captained by a rider who first rode for us as a 16 year old 21 years ago. Managed by a former captain of many years. Led from the front by world class riders in Emil and Doyle - Doyley being quoted as saying he’d happily see out his British career at the club. Ellis a returning rider who first rode at reserve as a teenager, Dan Thompson career revived when at a crossroads being dumped by Leicester, rew returning to help us win the trophy with Hawkins describing him in the meeting preview as “his first choice as soon as Adam was out, he’s our rider” Ipswich our as much a family as any club Now more than ever the speedway community needs to pull together and cohesively push towards a sustainable future for British speedway where we’re retaining clubs and even hopefully seeing past clubs re open or even new ventures come to fruition like Workington have in the last couple of years. I took my aged 9 t shirt with me Thursday as a good luck charm, signed by all 6 riders of the 98 team of 27 years ago on the track in the wild celebrations that night we won it all, it was a great talking piece with other fans around me reminiscing of that night sharing stories and remembering dad having to hoist me up over the fence so Tony rickardsson could reach to sign it for me! It’s certainly felt like a family club to me over the 36 years I’ve been going and others far longer, I’m a third generation fan with my grandfather even helping dig it out when it was originally built.- 425 replies

Annoyingly I can’t find any photos in it as kid, I’m not a massive bloke (5’9” 74kg) but the fact it squeezed over my shoulders and gut makes me think it must’ve drowned me as a 9 year old 🤣🤣 -

Probably the best there’s ever been and almost certainly better than we’ll see in the future! 1, 3, 5 in the world, a solid international rider, an emerging future Grand Prix star and a talented but inconsistent young local reserve a 2025 equivalent: zmarzlik, Bewley, j. Holder, thorsell, parnitskyi, kemp some side that -

Dug out my aged 9-10 t-shirt from 27 years ago and jokingly held it up and said to the Mrs I reckon I can still squeeze that on you know 🤣🤣 must be a good omen the shirt is coming with me Thursday!! Uppa Witches 🧙 -
Really enjoyed my first visit to Leicester last night, good crack with the home fans near us and nice to see so many other witches fans make the trip made a great atmosphere! flicking through the races this morning to watch again with replays etc. have to say while there was no contact Dan T was harshly excluded - olly called this on commentary saying he was taking avoiding action when he lost control. All four rider made a good start fighting for the same bit of track, basically by excluding him and not calling that first bend bunching to me the ref is saying next time don’t lock the bike up to avoid Ryan Douglas on the outside Dan just ride your normal line and send him into the fence and I’ll put all 4 back in because you bunched up.

Captains job, pulled up his big boy pants, puffed his chest out and spoke to the cameras despite clearly wanting to scream and shout and break things out the back in frustration at getting so close and falling short. you’d think the team manager would/should want to stand up and be counted on camera praising the efforts of his lads and telling the fans in the stadium and at home how proud he is of his team - obviously not made of the same stuff as picko
