Thought you had to have a minimum of 4.5 champ average converting to 3 to be eligible to double up to prem!?
-
Curious tho, perhaps wright can earn more elsewhere than bomber is getting at Somerset....
-
Good looking team within a tighter points limit imo, Stefan will easily add points to his average picking off weaker reserves and second strings, Josh Bailey is a more accomplished rider than his last stint in the championship and he’ll likely be racing mostly NL opponents at reserve that he knows he can beat already. With 3 good heat leaders, If Jedd List turns out to the the real deal could be the team to beat!
-
Pleased to see drew go off for a season and gain experience on a big track and learn from someone like steady, look after and enjoy watching him! He’s an absolute gem!
-
Good move for drew, different type of home track, big and fast and will surely benefit from working with steady
-
This was my thoughts too, had we continued in a “similar standard to this year championship” I’d have maybe said no to bringing Nico back as just didn’t feel he was a consistent enough 3rd heat leader at that level - but like you said was great for Somerset and when at reserve on the nights where he does go off like a rocket can pick up extra rides! I liked the way Rasmus Jensen went at Foxhall last year and on converted average could come in at 4.39 - another potential trump card, or young josh Pickering on 4.07 always looks good at Foxhall. I would like to see a young Brit in one of the reserve berths though ideally depending on how the teams built and he all the numbers work out
-
Not sure I’d like to see both as think that would leave us a little exposed at reserve and if/when running r/r but would really like to see either one of Nathan greaves or James Shane’s in a witches jacket next season - thoughts anyone? With covatti on 4.7 and each of them on around 3.2 that’s less than 8 points for your reserves that gets my vote!
-
Like I said certainly ambiguous - maybe they could use drew on a 4.00 in prem, but Hawkins can be quoted as saying he’s currently ineligible until he has achieved a 4.5 champ average. one would assume this rule and the restrictive points limit in champ is an attempt to create a better distinction in level between the two leagues
-
Certainly seems ambiguous, from what Hawkins says though you gotta achieve 4.5 in championship and that can then be converted by 1.5 to a prem 3.00 - so potentially using drew as an example once he’s up to 4.5 he could then be brought in somewhere in top league, ironic we were all hoping drew would keep his 2.00 average for this season team building and now ineligible and wish he’d have ridden enough to get an achieves average!
-
I’d be amazed if king wasn’t nailed on, he has stated he and his surgeon are confident he’ll be ready for March.
-
Not sure of bomber - don’t think he’s as good around Foxhall as several riders on lower averages...I guess maybe hasn’t ridden there as mich as others while we’ve been in division below, to be honest with the suggestion of Zagar I still had him in my head head as second heat leader behind an out and out no.1 such as doyle
-
Wouldn’t be against it
-
To be fair I see your point on Jarek, still think it’s unlikely, I think we have a good shout at getting doyley if he wants to come, has always gone very well at Foxhall too! for me whatever the team ends up being I just hope it’s built with a view to being unbeatable at home we lost way too many home meetings last year
-
Yep have to kind of agree - although not sure there’s 4/5 relaistic riders we’ve had ride for us before I’d for sure wanna to see in a top flight team.......who do you have in mind!?
-
Can’t see why he’d want the extra expenditure of riding over here for minimal Financial gain - he was always quite open and honest with finding the travelling hard work back when he was coming over - hence often going missing towards the end of the season
-
I’m concerned with the wording regarding averages - riders must have achieved a 3.00 average to race in the premiership - don’t think we’ll be having Drew at Ipswich if that is the case which is a shame although like some have said maybe a full year in the championship before the move up would benefit...
-
Couldn’t agree more, don’t want to move off Thursdays and so many of the other clubs want Thursdays too
-
Fair enough, I was unaware of bad blood between them, I was just basing on the best team around Foxhall I could put together hypothetically
-
Jason doyle 9.57 craig cook 7.64 richard Lawson 6.81 scott nicholls 6.65 danny king 6.46 Nathan greaves 3.25 drew kemp 2.00 adds up to 42.38! note Adam Ellis would be my preference over Danny king but he’ll be in whatever league we’re in I’d imagine! Like others have said tho not a lot of point speculating until we know the league formats etc. Also concede it’s very unlikely we’d be able to prize cool from belle vue! dont think you could put together a much team that rides Foxhall any better than these lot tho - should win every week at home and be capable on the road! Having seen drew go toe to toe with bomber at Glasgow and some of his other rides last season I see no problem in him riding top league as well next year he’d take it in his stride and surprise many along the way imo - destined for the very top
-
Yep good to see that, he’s confident he’ll be ready for next year so I’d assume he will be nailed on to be back in Ipswich colours whatever league we end up in!
-
Both look a bit lightweight for a top league team to me Would prefer jason Doyle 8.96 adam Ellis 6.49 richard Lawson 6.50 scott nicholls 6.48 craig cook 7.69 Another drew Kemp 2.00 working on top flight averages to a limit of 42.5 leaves 4.38 for other reserve meaning you could fit in Coty Garcia/Nathan greaves/James sergeant/josh Pickering/Jake Allen to name a few options!! Assuming they all stayed fit - they would rip it up at Foxhall!! note Danny’s top flight average is 6.46 so could be subbed in for any of three middle order - I’m just worried about if he’d be fit or not.
-
Yup really not a lot more than a fag paper in it! Either way both a significantly closer than Somerset/Swindon his home teams of recent years! To be honest I don’t really the big benefit of this whole asset base thing anyway times have changed - winning trophies yes and having a talisman such as Doyle spearheading would certainly be a good start!!
-
Could be just rumours and people putting things together being hopeful - but the facts are Guy Nicholls is a sponsor of doyley in gp and he lives in Norwich so we’re his most local track which could be a positive in terms of travel for home meetings.
-
No thankyou to danyon, wells or covatti. I really hope Danny’s arm is healed and he’s fit to ride next year - but hope he’s sensible enough to consider the long term effects/risks if it’s not properly healed, nerve damage can be very complicated, life is long a speedway career is short and not worth lasting loss of use of an arm! I have no idea where he’s up to with recovery, anyone seen any further details?? to be honest hope we go to top league but would still want to have drew at reserve in the top league don’t think it would faze him in the slightest!
-
Well that’s this year over then the inevitable finally confirmed! need a big shake up with the team and track next year it’s not been consistent enough for this year personally would like to see us go into the top league - ipswich produces good racing with good riders racing on it - the track was woefully dry and dusty tonight and yet cook and Lawson had a great few races as we often have seen with Danny and rory in heats 13&15
