Do You Think Speedway might do in London in Future??.
LesR replied to speed29's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
If there was someone with a pot of gold, and they have had to build up a successful buisness empire to achieve it, could you imagine them investing and being told by BSPL that they can only open on a Monday or Thursday, because the Poles only want the most productive days of Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I wonder how that would have worked with true Promoters of the 60's 70's and 80's? -
Bash the Bookie SEC finals Competition 2022

Huckenbeck £50 more. -
Nobody seems to have commented on Olly Allens interview in the pits on Discovery+, after the meeting, by Scott Nichols. Olly had a face like thunder and said that he was " Really annoyed and will take a couple of days to get over it!" I assume he was so annoyed at the result, and I didn't hear him praising the riders, unlike Steady a couple of minutes later. Certainly the riders didn't score the points in the final, but gates 2 & 4 would have been my prefered choice. Wonder who suggested the 1 & 3 chosen, especially after the riders performance off 2 & 4.

Discovery Entertainment + Sport £5.99 per month or £59.99 per year. if you have an Amazon Fire Stick you can download it to that, saves having to cast from a phone.

Very sad news, RIP Colin. Condolences to his family and close friends.

So sad that Rob has had to come to this decision, had he not been misled by the previous shower of s**t, and the subsequent vat bill, i think he may have made a go of it. lets hope talks with the interested parties have a good result.

Belle Vue -V- Sheffield (Eurosport) Monday 06/09
LesR replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Mikebv, re " To be fair to him, in Poland not many acknowledge each other." I have watched the vast majority of Polish Extralega and 1st division matches this season, on Polish tv N Sport and Eleven Sports, and in those leagues the majority of riders do congratulate each other. I have found it noticable how much Jack and his brother don't. Just my observation of course. One thing that I feel is very good in poland is that all riders have to watch the tv replays in the pits, directly after their race, to see the racing lines developing and where their opponents are gaining an advantage. Tai could be seen telling one of his under 21 team mates to do exactly that after the youngester had won a race. Shame we didn't have that years ago or today in most meetings. -

If you watch the Polish league, Jack Holder doesn't fist bump or hand shake when he looses. Only when he wins will he then offer his hand to an opponent. Never have liked his attitude. -
Is Emil Right In What He Says?
LesR replied to OveFundinFan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think that may work to a degree John, as in FIM events bikes have to weigh a minimum amount, many a long track rider has had to add weigth to his machine to conform to the regs. The riders would still spend out on tuning, because tuning is not just about saving weight, but also a lot of work goes into flowing the head and compression chamber, which is quite expensive. -

In 2 valve days, as a Jawa factory rider, Ivan Mauger would visit the factory and have tested many new engines on the dyno. He would then pick, for his allocation, the best engines for himself, this gave him a better starting point for tuning than having the less powerful engines. Mind you having Guy Allott as the tuner helped a lot. I can remember seeing the rockers on Ivan engines being on needle rollers, instead of the bronze bushes they used in the factory, much smoother operation. So even standard engines, straight from the factory, are not equal. -
I sincerely hope Rob can find someone to take over the promotion. I enjoyed my trips to Brough Park, and even became a Diamond for a night, guesting for them in an inter league meeting in the late 70's. The club has so much history and would be a terible shame to loose another venue. Here's hoping!

Maybe the Worrall's engines aren't quick enough for Belle Vue, even Scott Nichols admitted his engines weren't quick enough when he rode for Belle Vue.
