What will 2026 UK speedway bring?

Disagree with this in general I suppose. Don't believe there is a sense of entitlement from certain Championship clubs none of which you have named incidentally. To state that they need to serve the Premiership because the Premiership is British Speedway sounds more entitled and just a bit condescending. I don't think Championship clubs are waiting for the Premiership to collapse, why would any true speedway fan want to see either league collapse?. How do you know one big league would be mostly full of journeymen and out of depth NDL riders, it is not that long ago since Tom Brennan, Dan Thompson and Jason Edwards rode in that particular league not to mention Dan Bewley. Speedway's band of Promoters have had plenty of opportunity to get to grips with rider pay structure but seem to have lacked the discipline required as a group to do so. Is that statement fair ? . Historically lots of riders only had one British team place but the number of teams in the leagues at that time meant they got circa twice as many league fixtures than the 16 of recent years in the Championship anyway. The Premiership with 7 teams was just sustainable but still loss making for a number of those. But 5 teams assuming no one else is joining at the moment with no announced major tv deal is another story. It was rumoured that Ipswich were reluctant to partake in a 5 team league and personally I can see why. Sometime you have to go back to move forward so if one league in the short term at least is beneficial for the sport then I for one embrace it. -
Was the racing generally closer do you know?
-
True. So Tenerife just a jolly then or maybe can't be justified this year under the current circumstances.
-
if they get team places
-
Nobody has to move up.
-
Biggest crisis in British Speedway for decades and it is one day in Rugby. Can't be nowt to bother about after all folks as it was 4 days in Tenerife last year.
-
said he fancies changing a few light bulbs though 😋
-
Maybe threatened to make him eat it if he didn't sign 🤣
-
You could design a race program in which GP riders didn't ride against 2 pointers.
-
There has been multiple zoom calls by all accounts with the 2 league/ 1 league scenario back on the table. I would imagine not all Premiership teams will be overly keen to compete in a 5 team league .
-
Personally can't see it making much if any difference, nothing to stop the 'same' clubs signing riders with averages just below 8. Could it be aimed at leverage in an attempt to coax targetted teams into the Premiership.?
-
Well I would think they would have to include the matches as the SCB rules state that the league and BSN series matches count towards the match averages.
-
Well they are still to publish the final green sheet declarations.
-
would think it more likely to lead to some average manipulation toward the end of the season depending on the Greensheets.
-
All teams build to same points total. If a team uses more points on its heat leaders then it may well be stronger in that department but potentially weaker lower down as a consequence.
-
No idea bearing in mind we haven't had the AGM .
-
Yeah but they will finish 2025 over 8 no. I have questions whether the reduction should come into this for reasons of fairness. I don't even see the logic behind why they would want to impose this 1 rider over 8 proposal anyway ?. Should be able to build a team within the team building points limit as you choose.
-
Well there were 12 riders exceeding an 8 point average. What happens to the other 3 if still 9 Championship teams and they all want a team place ?
-
Was supposed to be 40 points for next 3 seasons following last years agm.
-
Very much doubt it will be Glasgow
-
You sure about those averages ?

Felt the same about Zach in 14 also, couldn't understand why he didn't try to slow Jody down to try and get Paul Starke through for the 5-1. I thought there was no team riding generally throughout the meeting. Charles Wright never attempted to look after young Jody Scott in heat 11 which I found inexplicable for the captain. Fortunately Jody had enough to keep a disappointing Anders Rowe back in 3rd.
