Sgb Championship Best Pairs 2017
diamond@heart replied to idh's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
You may be right with regard the Sheffield track but I usually find that for big events, the Sheffield track does not live up to expectation and this leads to a dire meeting. With regard to Sheffield fans turning out in greater numbers than the Belle Vue fans, you are probably correct on that one, but when it comes to speedway and meetings held and my local track, if it does not involve my team, I still turn up to watch as I like to watch speedway in general, am I a dying breed? I for one will be giving this one a miss but I would have attended had it been at the NSS. -
Sgb Championship Best Pairs 2017

I can't understand why this event has been given to Sheffield, the last few PLRC's have been piss poor at Sheffield and I can't see why this is going to be any different. The track at the last few PLRC's has been rubbishe with zero passing, until the last few heats, will the Pairs be the same, probs. We have a perfectly good National Stadium in Manchester, which is a good racers track, surely the event should have been staged at the NSS. -
Very true and hopefully he will get better, I felt like he was just going through the motions on Sunday as well, always a pleasure to watch around Brough. Hopefully Steve can get his bikes sorted and he enjoys the arrival of his new little one and Ruthless can get some rest and recover from a number of big crashes he has had in a few weeks.

Clip from last nights action, looked a fantastic race, Standard Ruthless race in my opinion, always value for money It takes two to make the race and hats off to Kyle, pushed Robert all the way and considering he was just back from a nasty crash and illness Well done to them, hope the race was as good as it looks on the clip? http://www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.32873

And I haven't read anywhere that he won't be turning out for The Stars tonight at Leicester, so I assume he has had no ill effects. Correction, just read he has pulled out of the meeting, hopefully fit for Wednesday for the Stars and Thursday for the Diamonds.

Good victory by the Comets last night but it was always going to be a tough task for the Diamonds. We failed to cover for Rose and Morris seemed well off his usual standard and Hopwood was a bit subdued, maybe all of those crashes of late have caught up with him. I also don't think it helped with Bowtell trying a novel dismount of his machine after his great Heat 2 5-1, never seemed the same rider after that and having to use others equipment is not ideal. Ludvig was much better this week and both him and Lambert were trying that outside run but it just seemed to far. Proctor had one of his better meetings at Brough for a long time and I lost count how many times the ref let Jorgensen jump the start. Cookie was Cookie, class act and always a pleasure to watch at Brough, never looked like getting beaten, Lambert gave it a good go in 15 and if not for that bit of unexpected drive coming out of turn 2 on the first lap may have just lowered Cookie's colours. All in all the result was as I expected, would have liked a draw and at one point thought we might just sneak a win, but Heat 14 did not go our way. Onwards and upwards and looking forward to the return of the prodigal son Robbo (subject to BSPA approval of course, as you never know). -
Thanks for that, Gutted for him and the Diamonds. Would feel his season is almost certainly over, unless he is gonna do a Tai and ride through the pain barrier, probs not and don't blame th guy. Robbo would be a good shout. How does this affect our 4 selection as he would have been one of our choices, can we use however we bring in or do they have to have rode a certain number of meetings? What about Timo Lahti, not sure of his average or commitments?

Any news on Lewis Rose?

Wasn't it Hans Nielsen, or maybe it was Tommy K and Nielsen stopped using his straight after the incident, I think

Good 2nd place for Connor Coles in the The Vincents's Motorcycles and Antiques Individual at Isle of Wight last night and a 3rd place by Alfie Bowtell

I don't think he could be any worse so should be interesting to see how he goes. Made an impressive first impression at Brough. Any news on Hopwood after his fall last night?

Is it not just a case of jumping on a flight with your favoured engine(s) and having it/them put into a frame in Poland? -
Greeenwood Out and Alfie Bowtell In. Makes his debut on Friday http://www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.32682

Interesting match last night, felt the match lacked any sort of atmosphere as Berwick I think knew they were on for a hammering and after the first few heats, the Diamonds tails were up and could sense a good pay night. I was impressed with all of the Diamonds and no doubt the meeting will hopefully have given Dan some more confidence. I find him a strange rider, when you watch him in Heat 2 compared to his remaining 3 rides, he is a completely different rider. In heat 2 he leaves the gate and seems to have loads of confidence and his riding style is a bit more relaxed, in his remaining rides, he tenses up and tries to over ride. I don't know if it a confidence thing, in that he believes he can beat the riders in Heat 2 but does not have the confidence when having to face the riders from the main body of the team!! I was impressed with Bowtell, looked good and one to watch either for this year or next, if he rides Lakeside, similar track to Brough. Always good to see Richie back at Brough and in a Diamonds race jacket where he belongs, just a shame I don't think we will see him back on a more permanent basis. He was a good replacement for Ruthless but not quite the same as the Ruthless one . Interesting to Ruthless in the pits, you would have thought he would have taken the time to relax and catch up on his reading at home In all honesty, great to see him at Brough and I think it shows how much he enjoys it at Newcastle to travel up on his day off to watch the team and interact with the fans. All in all a good confidence booster for the team and good pay day for the riders and great to hit 60!! Those Witches will be a far harder prospect next week but looking forward to it.
