Since ARC took over Perry Barr not seen anything much different other than evidence of some sections of Grandstand being closed down to Speedway and rumours of increased rent and less access time. It's more than likely that there will be more Dog Racing at Central Park in future as that increases revenue for Stadium via Betting levy and probably means Kent will soon find that Speedway is limited to one set day per week or like somewhere like Monmore (not ARC) a Dog meeting on an afternoon before Speedway on a night. The other issue is that Len is approaching 90, Cearns has always been mega supportive and there is the issue of the loss of Silver Ski in administration. Doesn't look great long term unless Len has a succession plan for his son or another Promoter to follow in his footsteps. The failure to secure Friday or Saturday night Speedway looks even less likely now. May be Kent can have one season in Championship and then revert back to standalone NDL with less costs and profit every season as Len has always claimed.

Not much change out of 30k for an air fence for track that size I'd have thought, hopefully floodlights could be configured to track with a few extra lights.. Starting gates aplenty probably lying round

Will be interesting to see final averages as other riders who have not ridden for a few years not given any reduction. Bridger 6.59 and Knight 8.83 last rode in 2017 as an example seem to be on same in respective Leagues for 2021. JPB and Compton both rode in 2017 ending 8.66 and 6.52 respectively, but can't fit under 35 on those averages?

Would seem to be an excellent opportunity for a new Promotion Team to go in there and make it pay on Gate Receipts and Sponsorship paying Rent to the Hancock family. Plenty of scope to run a successful Championship level business from there for someone or a group of people.

I think you're all missing the point a bit. Covid Passports are being tested for "large scale events" Crowds of 10-20,000 or more. They are an option being considered as an interim measure. Government have acknowledged that the technology is unlikely to be available before Autumn. I think they are aiming more at start of 2021/2022 soccer season in August. More likely for Villa / Albion / Blues / Wolves than Solihull Moors / Kidderminster Harriers and no League Clubs. Covid Passports may replace SOCIAL DISTANCING that is what will limit Crowds and make them all Ticket initially. Stadium Capacity will be calculated on Social Distancing and space available outside and inside until mid summer at least. All Sports Clubs will have to know how many are there and not over the limit. As for Pubs, many will end up letting in only regulars or via Track and Trace like we all used last summer.

Birmingham Brummies 2020
HGould replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Excellent choice and credit to Peter, David and Laurence for patience Potent spearhead with Bomber, whoever is at reserve with Jack ensures very strong No 6. If Ashley and James can get back to form just before injury we can be very strong. Fancy our chances in League and Cup now. Well done all at PB -
White City did so too in title winning season 1977. Totally legitimately at the time.

Hard to disagree. Whatever happens it's going to be hard to see more than 20,000 allowed inside a Stadium like Millenium with narrow streets and entrances and fact it has a roof and so very little air circulating even when roof is open, may go against it. Certainly not going to be many if any overseas people allowed to come in if rates remain high in Europe and how many fans would actually be there if UK fans only. Struggle to get `15,000 probably. May be easier to run behind closed doors and claim Event insurance Could argue Belle Vue or Glasgow might be better options to stage and cheaper.

Birmingham Brummies 2020
HGould replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
not had luck with injuries over past few completed seasons , Shanes and Morris both flying in to great form before getting injured. let down badly by a few riders, Garrity (no need to go there it's obvious) Johansson (however you spell it) pulled out after agreeing for 2020. shame we could not have secured Adam Ellis but attraction of initially Danish spot on a Wednesday and since 2019 swedish and polish leagues, not adams fault at all but timing again just did us. Couple of promising Danes didn't come off and probably released Newman and Hulme too soon. -
Birmingham Brummies 2020

100% We've had no luck at all and just coming to tapes in 2021 will be a win! If we can stabilise and build a team for 2022 the future will look a lot brighter and Birmingham and Brummies are going to be right at the heart of all of the Commonwealth Games news and lots of positive press attention. We need to find a No 1 who is affordable and not a huge risk financially and hopefully not 40 plus. With their close links to the South East, I do wonder if Lewis Bridger will find his way to Perry Barr at some point. He has said in several articles he doesn't want to commit to CL yet, he seems to be keeping options open though and if he starts well at Kings Lynn, who knows. Peter and David deserve the 100% of all of us. -
Flemming Graversen and GM dispute
HGould replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Don't see the problem, in terms of engineering isn't this what Japanese, Chinese; Koreans and others have done for decades. Take a Car / Engine / Engineering over to their people, strip it down, re-component and re-build pretty much identically. GM seems to have become complacent. -
I went 3 x to see Brummies / Leicester and paid £16 as a concession I'm pretty sure so don't think it's changed from then based on their website details for 2021. Easy for them to be ahead of some others as I recall they had Stock Car meetings late in 2020 so will know minimum numbers permitted from that. Would think Scunthorpe, Leicester , Plymouth know numbers allowed too from 2020.

Connor Mountain would be a good shout. What about Zack Wajneckht would he fit in and midweek Home Team surely ideal for him? Luke Becker, as a Hancock protege will already be riding in Poland and Sweden surely and as he's at the dog-heads that will be his quota? -
Aren't you getting confused with the Championship Pairs...12 Pairs and 20+ great quality races, meeting in 2019 saw outstanding racing and huge crowd. The Premiership Pairs would sure be a second half, 12 riders , 6 Clubs, not much of a crowd puller, seems ideal for Scunthorpe, neutral venue as well.

Championship League Predictions
HGould replied to W9 Lion's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Just as much quality and far more quantity and competitiveness than the bland PL. Think Poole might be in for a rude awakening with that attitude, certainly when visiting up to Midlands and the North . Away wins will be very hard for any side to find such is the nature of the League. -
Championship League Predictions
HGould replied to W9 Lion's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Think it'll be a very interesting and tight league Top 4 between Leicester; Eastbourne; Glasgow; Poole Next 4 Berwick; Edinburgh; Redcar ; Kent Bottom 4 Brummies; Scunthorpe, Plymouth Newcastle Replacement Heat Leaders going to be in short supply and second strings. Injuries and possible replacements vital Will benefit Clubs with assets not currently in CL and who may be able to replace injured riders. -
Wonder if NL can start sooner as classed grass roots and not Elite?
-
Very good news Some events last Autumn were pilot events so we may see a bit of action before May 17.
-
With or without? With of course. By May / June crowds will be allowed Restricted at first.. 25 to 33% Be enough for most Clubs to start. Bought (reserved) some Test Cricket tickets already.
-
The most interesting one on the 2 Star List by far is Jack Parkinson-Blackburn.
-
There is a lot of evidence in non League Soccer, Cricket (ECB) and other outdoor Sports that restricted Crowds will be permitted from early May. It's pretty nailed on that major Events won't be allowed any more than 33-50% capacity but as we've discussed many times before most Speedway venues can open and break even at 25-33% capacity. Allowances will have to be made for internal areas like Bars and Toilets. Take your own flask and sausage rolls if you have to. The biggest danger I think would be to abandon the season or to reduce it so much that the majority of venues can't open. That would probably be the death knell for most of them and a large number of semi professional riders (the vast majority) who would have no income from speedway for a second season and quite likely flog all their gear and never return and focus on the day job. If Europe remains slow to vaccinate; UK may yet find itself a safe haven where some will want to come and race. If 50% of the population and those with 90% of the deaths and infections so far are vaccinated by March and increasing number after it, can't see any reason or excuse not to start by June. It's then completely down to the individual to risk it or not. Where would I be safer, surrounded by mask-less kids and covididiots running round in Sainsburys and the CoOp or socially distanced with my friends outdoor on the steps at Perry Barr once a week.

Presume there is a subsidiary "black hole" list full of dormant old rising stars
-
Palin a very good choice going far in the sport
-
Good choice especially at a trick track like Monmore
-
From what I've seen at Perry Barr and some away matches, Brennan is currently better than Palin and Palin is better than Bickley. Brennan could make decent European level, as could Palin, Brennan has more experience. Bickley I think has plateaued and never be more than a second string CL rider.
